Well the memes and the jokes are fast gaining momentum, according to social media posts the perceptions of many of those who were once supportive are changing. Because of his own words and his own actions. Reducing people he says he killed to objects, claiming not to know that an insult he used as an adult was racist, implying that it wasn’t his choice to wear the Nazi uniform. The drug taking. The over-sharing that’s a gift to any comedian or cartoonist (the frolics in the field, the time he wet himself, the frost-bitten penis, the broken necklace and the dog bowl). The bile he’s spewed out against his family, knowing that they won’t contest it. It’s all out there now, can’t be taken back, and will no doubt be following him and his children around for years to come.
Where were his agents in all this, his advisors, editor, friends, his wife? Even if they couldn’t care less about the effect on his extended family, how have they all looked at this car crash of a book and not given him a word of advice about keeping his dignity and not trashing his own public image?
He’s a very privileged man who could so easily have had it all. Could have settled in his amazing new home with his little family, got the best therapy money can buy, kept in touch on his own terms with the brother and father he claims to love, concentrated on his charities and causes and been a real force for good. What a waste.
