Where were his agents in all this, his advisors, editor, friends, his wife? Even if they couldn’t care less about the effect on his extended family, how have they all looked at this car crash of a book and not given him a word of advice about keeping his dignity and not trashing his own public image?
Maybe they have all given him advice, but in the end it boils down to a stubborn, irascible individual who is none too bright who won't listen, won't admit he is sometimes inbthe wrong and who thinks he knows best.

OnwardandUpward Sat 07-Jan-23 11:59:39

Yes, what an absolute waste.

As my husband just said "So, the RF is dysfunctional. Most families are. It's not news"

tickingbird Sat 07-Jan-23 11:59:42

Where were his agents? Rubbing their hands in gleeful anticipation of their 10%!

Alioop Sat 07-Jan-23 12:06:10

They are on the phone with him chasing up his second book. Ching, ching $$$

I do know the "Ripple of Hope" is an actual award (and should be applauded) and that it came from Kennedy's idea that ripples build a current etc but every time I see it written down I can't help but feel it sounds very small/insignificant.

If only it was plural (even) as in "Ripples of Hope" it would sound so much better!

Am I the only one who thinks this? (Probably!) grin

Folie a deux?

If only the folie could be confined to 2. If seems to have spread to half the world’s population.

As role models for good mental health, it’s a disaster. Please don’t buy this book but consider a donation to a charity working with and for children.

I wonder what the working titles are for volumes 2 and 3? Vol 2 Despair Vol 3 Repair?

The Vatican used to run a list of prohibited books….. maybe Spare can be confined to the North American territory?

His father wrote a tell all book. Why is this any different?

How many families do you know who have connections to sex offenders? How many members of your family take money off dictators?

And I would say just the same about Charles if his book contained the same sort of revelations, but I have only read his book on paintings, so can't answer.

OnwardandUpward Sat 07-Jan-23 13:07:28

I am not personally acquainted with those, no.

That doesn't alter the fact that they do exist, somewhere.

Did he? I wasn’t aware of that and can’t find anything online about it. What’s it called please, WellsRose?

Was it as harmful to Charles’s reputation as Harry’s has been to his?

It was in 1994 written by Jonathan Dimbleby. He described his parents as distanthe. Then he did a television interview where he gave he was cheating with Diana. Ias all over the press. We didn't have social media so there wouldn't have been the bitchy pile on.

Yes, where is Meghan in all this and her mouthpiece, Omid Scobie…Not a peep!

Meghan has dropped friends like hot potatoes if anything they have said or done risks harming her image. Surely she knew the book’s content?

Yes I remember it and Diana did the same. However, Charles didn’t trash his family and tell all the sordid little details. He didn’t talk about the Queen and Prince Phillip and describe intimate details of their lives calculated to cause embarrassment in an act of revenge for not getting his own way.

Quite a difference.

ronib Sat 07-Jan-23 13:56:53

Princess Diana published in 1992, KC3 in 1994. And it ended so well?

Oh he has. He’s piped up and it’s being discussed on another thread.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 07-Jan-23 14:03:23

Meghan is winding him up and ensuring he’s irrevocably estranged from his family and dependent on her, merlotgran. The real cause of his problems.

Thank you. I’ll have a look. Hard to keep up with it all. 🤣

Not according to the tabloids at the time. According to them he was derogatory about the Queen saying she was cold and instant.

Have you read Harry's book? If not; how do you know there a lot more positive stuff about his family on top of what the newspapers are saying. Do you think we should ban autobiographys all together because I've had a pretty happy life and my parents were great but if I was telling my life story, I'd have to say stuff about their divorce because it's my life.

Harry was offered a huge of money to write his story, I'm never going to be in the same position but if I was offered 100 k to tell you that my mum hit me with a slipper over something my brother did, they'd both encourage me to do it. I bet some of you would accept the money grin

Smileless2012 Sat 07-Jan-23 14:19:03

tickingbird @ 13.56 I was thinking the same, not in the same league at all is it.

No I definitely wouldn’t if it meant I was causing dreadful upset to my late parents and siblings. It’s spiteful and calculating.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 07-Jan-23 14:37:19

Some people have principles, no matter how much we could do with the money. Judas and the 30 pieces of silver springs to mind. You must have a low opinion of some of us WellsRose.

That's a daft thing to say. Clearly I have no opinion of you as I've never met you.

Smileless2012 Sat 07-Jan-23 14:44:06

And it didn't end well for Judas did it GSM.

I don't think I could ever hate anyone enough to do to them what H's doing to his family WellsRose.
