Astonishing that he has announced this.
He has now put his wife, children and himself at serious risk not to mention all the other implications.

He is a silly immature and dangerous man.

Apparently he revealed his Taliban kills for his own healing.

Oh dear….

Groan

When will it end?

Now the news channel GBN have discovered discrepancies that can be proved, in his book concerning when the Queen Mother died.

Acknowledging it for 'his own healing' is one thing. Revealing it to all and sundry in his book is something else altogether and clearly puts himself, his family and others at risk.

Maybe he should ask a priest to listen to his confession. Safer all round, and confidential.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 10-Jan-23 15:35:13

Good grief.

Actually annoys isn't strong enough.SIL has served two tours and now ex military .Fortunately came back physically safe but no doubt has had some mental struggles adjusting to his new life.We know his army colleagues mean a huge amount to him and they share a bond of things they have seen and done. But he would never talk like Harry. And thinking of Lee Rigbys murder at times I've worried that extremists would get details of those who serve and have served. This was unnecessarily inflammatory.

Yes. I’d question the wisdom of the publishers first and foremost Pammie
It’s been a deciding factor in me not buying the book

FannyCornforth Tue 10-Jan-23 13:34:46

No, you weren’t being patronising at all Pammie! I know exactly what you mean
I’ve also heard service men both agreeing with and criticising the ‘chess piece’ remark.

Pammie yes, thank you.
I think I understand a bit more now.
I commented when his ‘confession’ was first leaked

Sorry - not meant to patronise 😇. It does make you wonder why he’s made this kind of disclosure though doesn’t it ? He’s served in the forces and one would think, be aware of the taboos.

Yes, he has endangered his kids. I don't know how he will have managed to evacuate his home safely with his kids and dogs and adequate security during the Montecito floods. He may have had to hunker down in a safe room with them.

I don't know if he will have planned for this type of natural disaster, but it may have been impossible for them to stay there at all.

Harry has, by his thoughtless boasting, put many at risk (including his own children) and lost the respect he once enjoyed.

So many experienced military personnel are appalled by this needless disclosure. Surely his ghost writer, editor, publishers or their legal advisors should have flagged this up as utterly foolhardy?

You can only conclude that foolhardiness doesn’t cut through the dollar signs.

I am very ignorant about such matters, but I thought that this was exactly how soldiers were encouraged to think.

I think the difference is that they are encouraged to think it, but not put the numbers out there. He’s been widely criticised by members of the armed forces for doing so. He’s also endangered himself and his family, and if he was even considered for an invitation to the coronation, I don’t see how that would now be possible given the security risk.

FannyCornforth Tue 10-Jan-23 13:11:17

Washerwoman I’ve heard that Invictus will be keeping a distance from Harry.
So he’s alienated his family; the forces; and now his own charity

Washerwoman Tue 10-Jan-23 13:03:14

I keep thinking for the Invictus games this surely increases security risks. So military personnel who have already suffered life changing injuries became a heightened terrorist risk because Harry has to have his publicity. Can't help thinking he's done it to say look what a hero I am.And force the tax payer to fund his security although he's said he doubts he will ever live here again. So what about all the others living on disabilty benefits and barely inadequate pensions?Of all the things he's said this one annoys me the most.

Wonder what's changed since the Daily Mail et al thought that talking about killing the enemy was a good thing?

OnwardandUpward Sun 08-Jan-23 00:52:58

True, foolish doesn't cut it but I don't know of a more specific word that covers it.

maddyone Sat 07-Jan-23 22:55:06

To speak about his ‘kills’ was a foolish and disrespectful thing to do. How selfish to put himself, his family, and other soldiers and indeed civilians in danger. Actually, foolish doesn’t cut it. I’m shocked that anyone could stoop to this level.

Hearing about Pen Farthing has made me worry about the Kabul Small Animal Rescue group which I have been donating to for ages. Their staff are mainly Afghans and they have been managing to keep a fairly good relationship with the Taliban so they can carry on with their work. I hope Harry hasn't messed things up for them.

merlotgran Sat 07-Jan-23 22:36:27

High profile people like the Obamas must be thanking their lucky stars they had the good sense to distance themselves before all this.

nanna8 Sat 07-Jan-23 22:27:06

Selfish, selfish man. I hope he feels ashamed of himself that he has caused this to happen. I doubt it,though.

You'd think so, varian but they must have had $$$ in front of their eyes.
I am surprised at any legal advisers he may have had, though.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 07-Jan-23 18:31:04

They were only thinking of the $$$$ and the publisher’s legal advisers would only have a duty to their client to ensure that defamation laws weren’t breached. It’s clear that if H took any advice, he didn’t follow it in his determination to get ‘his truth’ across and, evidently, cause damage to his brother’s reputation (where I suspect he has failed).

I believe they are mostly Afghans.
