How offended are you? Am speechless that Charles/Palace has decided we should all muck in...as a community so that we can enjoy the coronation...thought this was supposed to be a scaled back event but now read/see that its going to be another big jubilee...how out of touch are these people..

The RF never disclose private donations

Not likely. I have better things to volunteer for. Waste of money and a diversion from the mess created by this rotten Tory government.

Assuming to Hy mean in that London? Majority of citizens live outside that be London and probably don't give a grit!

I looked it up and apparently it's from Manchester area originally but I have heard it in London..

Well OK, mostly Eastenders when I sued to watch it

"You can do one mate"

I'm south London not east though

Manchester....we do say that and have for decades. Although I first heard it from a Scouser! Chinese whispers anyone?

Lots to read here and I’ve not read all the posts. RE Volunteering… a noble endeavor for whatever cause you believe in and support.

As a career person who managed big volunteer staffs, teams, events throughout my life, here’s what I can promise you - those who volunteer will often times get to be “in the mix” “in the thick of it” “in the know” “get perks from the event” more so than a spectator on the sidelines - Go For It! It is rewarding. And you make friends.

There are glamorous events to volunteer for and charitable events to contribute your valuable time for. Expect long hours and wear good shoes at all times.

For those that don’t care for the Coronation, so many other agencies need your involvement. Everyone is important here. You’ll feel good that you were of help and service and go home satisfied.
Cheers!

Well said USA Grundy. If you want to do it, do it. If you don’t want to do it, for whatever reason, then don’t. Nobody is forcing anyone to do it.

I agree with those who think the idea is patronising. It's not as if everyone will be able to have the day off to volunteer, even if they wanted to.

I'm waiting for a Tory Minister to suggest the poor could celebrate with Spam fritters.

Spam fritters are definitely a thing of the past.
Let them eat bread
(I know it was brioche but who can afford that now?)
