I was aware of your tragic loss, Anniebach but not of those dreadful undeserved comments on Facebook. x

This, in the news is breaking my heart.
I hope she comes home safe soon - but every passing day is such a worry.

Annie, thank you for posting on this thread. This is the first time I’ve seen you mention those disgusting comments on Facebook. I’m so sorry you had to endure that along with your shocking, tragic loss x

Thank you. I spoke of it because the parents will experience the same, explains why they chose to have her health problems
spoken of before the judging starts.
Nicola had a health problem and self medicated.
which really isn't unusual and hasn't been for a very, very long time. All these perfect people that do the judging must be very pleased with themselves. I'm so sorry about your daughter Annie and all the others who have spoken of their own grief on this thread.
I don't judge Nicola or her family. Don't we all have our own battles in life, even in the mundane day to day. Everything isn't meant to be okay
There’s much kindness and understanding to be found on GN.
I agree Joseanne. I am sorry for your terrible experience.
It might seem like 18 pages of unnecessary speculation to some, but when posters come along and express kindness for Anniebach and Kate1949 and myself, it just goes to prove how much people care about the grief of those they don’t even know in real life.

Annie and Kate, the sadness you have both endured is bad enough but having to cope with unbelievably awful comments from strangers is completely unacceptable.

. I know your story. The comments made regarding your daughter were horrendous. If people struggle with mental health problems there is, still to this day, an underlying feeling that they are weak. I believe it is the opposite. I have struggled with my mental health and I have hung on even though I haven't always wanted to. My brother took his own life as a young man. He wasn't weak. Just broken.

Several newspapers today contain appeals from the family directly to Nicola herself, telling her how much she is loved and missed.
In light of the recent information given, and all the time the river searches reveal nothing, they must feel there is still a chance that she has maybe, taken herself off and is somewhere safe, slim though that chance might be.
I do so hope that’s the case.
Social media is always going to be OTT in cases similar to this, sad fact. So many people go missing every day and only a few catch the public’s imagination.
When I watched the interview on tv neither the partner or friends suggested that anything had been wrong, when it clearly had.The partner said that he thought that somebody in the village knew something, thought that comment was rather strange tbh.

Some individuals don't bother to hide behind ignorant, spiteful, thoughtless comments. They are quite happy to put their name to them. Women are on a hiding to nothing.
Women are on a hiding to nothing.
... ain't that the truth!
The gears of the evolution of the mind grind so slowly.

Why ignore the fact the family wanted the health problem made public because someone unnamed was going to.
My daughter jumped from a bridge into the river, Facebook-
‘expect she was pissed’, ‘she was a nutter’ ‘bitch leaving her children’.
Fact - she suffered with bipolar, a serious mental illness which hit her when she was about 40, she took her life .
Some expert has now said ‘the police have destroyed Nicola’s
reputation’.
I remember. I'm so very sorry your precious daughter was sick with such a horrific illness. And sorry for what you've endured. Prayers.
People really should carefully watch their words, me as well.

and yes! to "explains why they chose to have her health problems

... but isn't it awful that a family has to protect themselves from the judgement of those who feel they have some right to pontificate and speculate?
Some of the comments on social media are appalling. I wish there was a way the people who make them could be held accountable for the things they say.
It's quite depressing to realise that there are so many ignorant - and it is ignorance - individuals around, ever-ready with a spiteful, thoughtless comment... protected by their anonymity on the 'net. Utterly cowardly and despicable.
As if the families of those who go missing don't have enough to cope with - they have to suffer the malicious gossip of the ill-informed. A curse on such people.

😢
From what I have heard the police reacted very quickly on a large scale, in the absence of any evidence of a 3rd party involved despite extensive investigations. After 3 weeks there are still no clues at all, if the most likely event is falling into the river you don’t wait to do a risk assessment you search in case a life can be saved.
I don’t think “menopause” is a taboo word these days all women of that age have to cope with it, it is even a valid reason to have employment leave. In Nicolas case that or other things were causing mental health issues, leading to drink problems as well.
There was a weir downstream, below that the river is tidal and being swept quickly out to sea seems the most likely scenario. There is always hope, but with a police hunt of this scale it doesn’t seem likely

Well done speaking out, Anniebach.

Annie, I’ve known your story for a long time, but time doesn’t take your hurt. Speculation doesn’t help the police find Nicola and the hurt her family are enduring must be huge. I just wish she would be found.
absolutely disgusting comments Anniebach..People can be so ignorant.. I'm so sorry that you had to suffer even more..
