This, in the news is breaking my heart.
I hope she comes home safe soon - but every passing day is such a worry.

I haven’t seen the press conference but the radio news says Police described Nicola as a vulnerable missing person

I've just heard this. They said Nicola was deemed high risk due to a number of specific vulnerabilities, but they refused to enlarge .

I didn't think it the most helpful of comments.

It's a tragic case.

Are the police too focussed on CCTV coverage these days and forgetting to do the procedures that they used to do?

Anniebach Wed 15-Feb-23 08:31:29

The police are holding a conference this morning.

lemsip Wed 15-Feb-23 08:30:59

Lancashire Police will hold their first press conference in eight days on Wednesday at 11.30am. It is expected to be led by Assistant Chief Constable Peter Lawson and senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith.

doesn't say the glove was nicola's at this stage.

COPS searching for Nicola Bulley were handed a mystery “stained” glove found in the field where the mother of two was last seen, it emerged tonight.

Despite insisting they are keeping an open mind, the police do seem obsessed with their theory that the river holds the answer.
It must be incredibly frustrating for the poor family.

Her partner is apparently not happy with the Police response. They would not hold a press conference, and are only now looking for any anglers which were on the river that day.

BlueBelle Tue 14-Feb-23 22:54:26

You don’t have to keep saying it Fleurpepper

The news has just come through that they have found one of her gloves in the field

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 14-Feb-23 22:23:26

If one has made one’s point once, is that not sufficient?

Fleurpepper Tue 14-Feb-23 21:27:03

Honestly at this stage I truly think we should stop speculating. It is serving no purpose. We should all wait imho, and hope.

Zipped is quicker than repeat.

BlueBelle Tue 14-Feb-23 20:53:07

Ahh that’s it then, missed that thought Iam 😳

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 14-Feb-23 20:42:21

Ah yes …

Iam64 Tue 14-Feb-23 20:20:09

Well, I suppose if you don’t keep reminding everyone you are zipped, you won’t be the centre of attention.

BlueBelle Tue 14-Feb-23 20:08:03

What’s you’re problem fleurpepper your posts are pointless

Callistemon21 Tue 14-Feb-23 20:01:17

Goodness knows, GSM.
But the other thread about a murdered child is just so dreadful, it is so shockingly awful I could weep.
Perhaps some on there should practice what they preach on here.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 14-Feb-23 19:43:38

Why don’t people refrain from posting rather than keep saying ‘Zipped’?

Fleurpepper Tue 14-Feb-23 18:50:48

zipped

I thought of the two little girls yesterday at the start of their half term holiday. So sad.

BlueBelle Tue 14-Feb-23 17:33:23

…..And no one is any nearer knowing what has happened to this lady

veejay Tue 14-Feb-23 16:32:31

Joseanne of course you are entitled to your own valid opinion, which will be based on your own experiences and observations. I don't believe we ever have the unvarnished truth from the media, who seem to want controversy to be stirred up. As a family with two serving police officers, both of whom have dealt with the worst of human nature for many years, and truly do their best to protect the public, my views are coloured by concern for them, and for their morale.

My father served 33 years. I worked closely with police on domestic and child abuse. Generalising, in over 40 years, the vast majority of officers at all ranks were hard working, genuine and focussed on the task in hand. In my personal life, the same view holds.
The police have information that isn’t and shouldn’t be in the public domaine.
This is a complex unusual situation

It's a difficult balance isn't it?

In such cases the Police often rely on information from the public so have to supply certain details about a case. And that's where the difficulty arises because they cannot lay bare all of the knowledge they already have but at the same time need to supply enough precise information to the public to possibly get the help they need.

So it probably looks to the lay person like they are not "doing enough" - then out come all the armchair detectives and conspiracy theorists speculating on why they haven't done this, that, or the other when in fact, they don't know anything at all about what the police have done - simply because they don't understand that the police are not compelled to publicly document their every move or line of enquiry.

The fevered imagination of some posters on social media sites (especially FB) really is not helpful and I'm not sure some of the comments shouldn't be more closely monitored and possibly removed.
