The EU has become more secure as a result, as people are watching the U.K. flounder and becoming poorer and say “not for us”

The NY Times is this morning reporting that the EU economy will avoid a recession (unlike the U.K.) and is expected to grow this year. Some countries like Germany will not do so well as expected, but the on the whole the picture is positive.

Meanwhile the U.K. is the only major economy expected to go into recession in 2023, performing even worse than the heavily blacklisted Russia.

I have recently written to my MP regarding changes to rules for immigration to EU countries. Those of you who travel to and from Europe will be aware of the need to have passports stamped on entry and exit. EES is due to be introduced in May, 2023 (just over three months away) but I find no mention of this new regulation when I visit the UK government site, advising on travel to France. EES entails the fingerprinting and photographing of British travellers with these records being stored for future times when they might visit. Delays at ports and airports are expected when this is implemented. This will be followed by ETIAS being implemented in November of this year.

We can’t change things, but surely theEU was better as a trading group than trying to be the United States of Europe?

Actually Brexit is costing more like £100 billion per year so all that talk of saving is rubbish Any amount of “talking down” wouldn’t change the facts . Brexit lovers “talk down”the EU all the time - it’s still the biggest and strongest trading bloc on the planet, so all the rhetoric of how it was all going to collapse without the U.K. and how “they need us more than we need them” was so much piffle. Can anyone name any one genuine benefit we have had by leaving that matches the whole list of negatives? Answer: No.

Because of the political antipathy of the rest of Europe, but their need for our money, Brexit was necessary. We were going to be made topay, both financially and politically whatever the poll result. Verhogstadt and Barnier are toxic politicians.
We have now left, with punitive clauses. TM didn’t do us any favour with her wobbling. Whatever his faults, BoJo got us out, then was catapulted into the pandemic.
We need a strong and committed Brexit government of whatever hue, with help from all the media. No more negative, woke, snowflake scandals. Head down, bum up, and work towards a fair trading agreement.

Well we can’t be helping out poorer countries can we? Actually Brexit is costing us far more than we’ve saved. There have been no benefits to anyone apart from the super rich. The U.K. is the projected to be the worst performing country in the G7 with negative growth. We now have freedoms to do what exactly? Pour sewage in our waterways springs to mind .That’s good.

Most of the people I know who voted to Leave are hugely disappointed that the most hasn’t been made of this opportunity. Brexit hasn’t had a chance yet.
