Click on the picture to hear his words. I am confused. Johnson is saying that Membership of the EU will be good for Ukraine. James O'brien is discussing this on LBC just now so perhaps someone will phone in to explain Johnson's thinking.

He is still a Brexit fan then.

Thank you for the clip, riverwalk. The prospect of Turkey joining the EU was one of the Farage arguments for supporting the Leave campaign and yet here is Johnson making a convincing argument for its membership. Sunak needs to reel him in.

A man to be watched. I always think about how his brother Joe got out of the Government when he came to be P.M. may be afraid of being accused of nepotism or maybe knows something the wider public doesn't.

Was happy to accept a peerage from his brother though.

I did say maybe he knew something the wider public didn't, maybe he was in line then. What a family.

Oh yes, definitely the Minister for Stating the Bleeding Obvious. He is telling the USA that defeating Putin sooner rather than later is a good thing and will save tax dollars. What a visionary he is! Not a shred of self awareness in sight.

Sunak needs to reign Johnson in and remind him that he is only paid to represent his constituents. If I was Foreign or Defence Secretary I would be most alarmed by this self serving grifter with KGB friends strutting about the world stage. Just who signed off his expenses for these trips?

Johnson, is of course right in saying the EU membership would be good for Ukraine.

EU membership was very good for the UK until Johnson and his fellow Leave liars dragged us out after the fraudulent referendum of 2016.

Ukraine would not be able to join the EU until it sorted out a few domestic issues, to put it mildly. We should not let the atrocity of the Russian invasion blind us to the reality of pre-invasion Ukraine. Likewise, despite what Johnson and other liars said, Turkey is a long way from being able to join the EU due to human rights abuses, treatment of women, minorities etc.,

Johnson has jumped on the Ukraine bandwagon to further his own cause, whatever that may be, probably writing a book or giving an overpriced lecture to daft Americans about his so called statemanship.

“The risk of a nuclear escalation on Russia’s borders with NATO countries continues to rise. With its army worn down by the offensive in Ukraine, Moscow has withdrawn troops from the area and replaced them with tactical nuclear weapons on its Northern Fleet ships for the first time since the collapse of the Soviet Union, according to Norwegian military intelligence.”

Brexit, the war, climate change, etc... are all simply props for Johnson's personal ambition. They are the means to an end.

I doubt he really gives a fig about his loyal Brexit fans, Ukraine or climate change.

IMO he was the very last person who should have been in charge of Brexit - not that I think it was the right decision to leave, but the main protagonist should, at least, have been someone who was totally dedicated to the 'cause' for its own sake. And someone, who might have had a notion of the lives of the ordinary voting public,

He appears to be bound by no code other than that of self-promotion. Laws, regulations, Parliamentary ethics, don't apply to him. If anyone opposes him, they are wrong - wrong because they have opposed him.

IMO he has damaged the country beyond repair and we will all, Leavers and Remainers, pay the price that his self-entitled, narcissistic personality has inflicted on us. And I don't think he will ever have a moment of reflection, or doubt... he will just continue on his cavalier, vainglorious rampage.

The Gods forbid he ever gets anywhere near the levers of power again.

One wonders why Johnson didn’t encourage Ukraine to join the Commonwealth.

Oldbat1 Thu 16-Feb-23 17:11:35

Why oh why is Johnson spouting forth. He is an utter shambolic disgrace and a failure!
