Apparently she and Nicola are pals in RL.

It’s said that Theresa May had a friendly phone call with her to say there’s still life on the back benches.
It must feel strange tho to sit there when you’ve been leading things for quite a while.
Most never want to give up the power and the kudos while some are relieved to live a more normal life.

I read that Nicola Sturgeon might be wanting a life on the international stage - maybe the UN?

The core policy of the National party of Scotland from its inception was Independence.It was started by Robert Bontine Cunningham Graham who was also a co founder of the Labour party with Keir Hardie ...who had Home Rule for SCOTLAND as one of its core policies .
Its been around a long time had many leaders and no doubt will have many more.
Independence is grass roots led ,its not Nicola Sturgeon who ramps it up its people ,ordinary folk ,shop assistants ,teachers ,nurses ,doctors Lawyers army veterans and anyone I've missed The Independence movement is not just one person but we are sad to lose our very competent leader though she will still be in Holyrood and part of the fight for our freedom

We just want what other countries world wide want...control of our own country and finances .We are the 6th richest country in the world .We 'd rather make our own mistakes than have westminster ones foisted on us

Scotland certainly has a high number of billionaires.

I suspect that we may not yet have seen the full story as regards the reason for her resignation. Perhaps some effective






investigative journalism may clarify matters.

Aveline I know from your posts you’re in Scotland and no fan of NS, who would you prefer to be the next FM?
Is there somebody who would concentrate more on getting things right for Scottish people than going all out for another referendum, or is that impossible?
Seems to me that people everywhere in UK want quiet government and no grandstanding.

I agree Oreo. Things are bad and we need to work together more than ever for the benefit of everyone in UK. I'm impressed by Sarwar. He could be FM but only after another election.
Of the SNP potential contenders I really couldn't say. Nicola eclipsed them all and didn't risk giving anyone a chance to shine.

I heard Jim Sillars saying much the same on TV.

He is reported as saying:
Nicola is now history. My concern is what the party does. And I hope the lesson the party has learned from the Sturgeon years is the cult of personality is damaging to policymaking and always ends in tears.

And I hope whoever becomes the next leader of the party will not fall into the same trap as the Salmond/Sturgeon era did in creating the cult of personality, which means that you don't listen to critical voices. And if you don't listen to critical voices, you make strategic errors. And that's what's happened with Nicola.

Sillers said it all. I do miss the older generation of MSPs. Margo McDonald and Annabel Goldie to name but two. Both very approachable. From different parties but able to communicate constructively. It so confrontational and aggressive these days.

I think she should leave completely and not remain in parliament. She will haunt whoever gets her job , the nature of the beast. I could see a future for her as some sort of ambassador because she is strong minded and has a feisty mouth. Maybe Russia?
