Camilla has reportedly indicated she wants her five grandchildren (three are pictured left); Lola and Eliza, both 15, Freddy, 13, and twins Louis and Gus, also 13, to hold the canopy over her as she is anointed with holy oil on May 6.

The BBC has reportedly delayed a documentary on Jimmy Saville due this year until 2024 because of 'sensitivities'.

One can't help but wonder what might be sensitive about publishing it this year...

Mollygo Wed 01-Mar-23 09:58:17

I can think of the insensitivity of publishing anything about Jimmy Savile at any time. Evidently you feel his behaviour needs resurrecting, especially if you can link it to your dislike of the RF.
A broadcast for you to look forward to Grany.
Another I would/wouldn’t watch it discussion for GN.

Charles could have married Camilla in church after Diana died but for one little problem. The C of E accepts second marriages after divorce but not usually if the relationship began before or contributed to the divorce. (So that was out!)
It's all a bit of a joke isn't it?
I mean in 1953 A young woman making her vows to God in a church she sincerely believed in was touching.
In 2023 an old man making vows and being anointed, along with the woman he had a long term affair with, watched by his children, her children, his grandchildren and her grandchildren, some of whom won't be speaking, is the stuff of soaps and Hollywood. I just wish Hollywood was paying for it.

Well-said Glorianny

Hollywood?
Nope, it’s the stuff of history, British history. Can’t have been many, or any kings that didn’t have mistresses.
It’s because they could never marry for love reasons.

Of course they did. And Edward VII had 3 of his at his coronation, but he didn't marry them and they weren't anointed and crowned.
That's why it's Hollywood and not history. Or maybe Charles read too many Mill&Boone romances

Some people seem to have very unforgiving natures. To err is human, to forgive is divine, no? Are all those who criticise Charles and Camilla, who have been very happy together, without sin?

Anniebach Wed 01-Mar-23 10:25:09

No documentary, a drama about Saville with Steve Coogan
playing Saville. So fiction.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Mar-23 10:27:08

Sounds very distasteful. Surely we know enough about what Saville did without it being dramatised?

Anniebach Wed 01-Mar-23 10:32:10

GSM the sainthood of Diana must be upheld .

Gosh did Camilla force 28 year old Diana to push her step mother down a flight of stairs ,

I don't really care what they do. I think they are happy. I do resent public money being used to crown one very rich man and his second wife.
I also think if you buy into the whole idea of God and Christianity you should at least look carefully and examine what you are doing, particularly if you are head of a church whose members don't all approve of it.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Mar-23 11:17:54

So you suggest he abdicates?

Glorianny Wed 01-Mar-23 11:20:56

I think they should all go.
But if they aren't going to I think he should examine his position carefully and perhps skip the anointing bit certaily for Camilla and possibly for him too.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Mar-23 11:28:01

Part of the coronation ceremony. You seem to have come over all religious Glorianny, so unlike you.

Chardy Wed 01-Mar-23 12:19:28

Kings may have had mistresses in the late 19th century and before, but we are talking about the late 20th century.

Anyone know which season of The Crown will feature the coronation?

Glorianny Wed 01-Mar-23 16:18:20

Actually Gsm I have pretty strong moral standards. I don't think you have to be religious to think that vows are serious things .
I was just thinking- it is just as well Diana is dead, imagine the huge problems if she'd been around.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Mar-23 16:23:41

The anointing with holy oil is a religious aspect of the ceremony. I have strong moral standards too but I also have sympathy and compassion.

Mollygo Wed 01-Mar-23 18:07:46

G was just thinking- it is just as well Diana is dead, imagine the huge problems if she'd been around.
They’d have been divorced. Would Glorianny or any GNs, whether in that position or not, advocate or insist on inviting the divorced partner to any future celebrations for either of the divorced partners, just because the divorced partner is the parent of children from pre divorce?
When my ex-sister in law remarried she didn’t invite my brother and when he remarried, his ex wife was not in the guest list.
If it was Willian’s coronation, yes, but that’s a celebration about William.

Galaxy Wed 01-Mar-23 18:11:13

She would have scheduled her wedding on the same day or something equally dramatic. It would have been very soap opera.

Glorianny Wed 01-Mar-23 19:10:05

They'd have been divorced. Of course there are amicable divorces -was this one?
Would he have invited her to the ceremony? Maybe she would have been barred from entry like Queen Caroline
I like the wedding idea Galaxy grin

Galaxy Wed 01-Mar-23 19:11:28

Or she would have sat on a bench outside with her head tilted to the side.

Mollygo Wed 01-Mar-23 19:27:50

🤣🤣🤣

Still waiting to hear if other GNs, divorced or not advocate inviting the ex partner to a celebration for the remarried spouse and partner.
If you were divorced Glorianny, and were having a celebration, would you invite your ex (and possible new spouse) to the affair?

Galaxy Wed 01-Mar-23 19:34:53

Affair being the operative word grin.
I loved her drama, I am not a great admirer of the doing what you are told, behave properly kind of thing.

Anniebach Wed 01-Mar-23 20:17:26

Attention seeking , she was soooo good at it.

Galaxy Wed 01-Mar-23 20:20:06

Often an undervalued quality in women.

Glorianny Wed 01-Mar-23 20:26:10

That stunning black dress she wore!

faye17 Thu 02-Mar-23 08:53:32

Jeer at Diana all you want
It says nothing about her and everything about you.
It won't validate or beautify the ugly reality about to unfold in May.

Mollygo Thu 02-Mar-23 09:53:15

Actually faye17 that’s a good point

Jeer at anything or anyone’s opinions all you want
It says nothing about them and everything about you.
