The King has reportedly evicted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage, their residence in Windsor. Buckingham Palace let the Duke and www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1740755/royal-family-meghan-markle-prince-harry-frogmore-cottage-king-charles of Susses know about the plan to take away the property from them just days after Harry's tell-all memoir, Spare, was published worldwide, it has been claimed.

Has to keep in the public eye and keep the $$$$ rolling in, J.

I read that he is considering adding another chapter to his book about how the book and the tv interviews and Netflix series were received. Just publishing a single chapter? Or more likely making people buy the book afresh?

Well that's original, NOT! A bit like calling a meeting to discuss when to have the next meeting!

Before the Oprah interview, Netflix trilogy and 'The Spare' there were plenty of comments about how worried the Palace were, about what may be said.

Maybe this is Charles' way of saying he wont be held to ransom by his ungrateful and treacherous son; good for him.

Another tv interview?

My mother used to say you reap what you sow and Harry is now reaping what he has sown.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 02-Mar-23 13:13:52

It does imply that, though you can be evicted by having your belongings removed in your absence. Their lease has been terminated, or not renewed, doesn’t have nearly such a good ring though does it?😁

maddyone Thu 02-Mar-23 13:12:29

Harry banished himself, he hasn’t needed help from Charles.

Yes, he did indeed. It was totally his own decision and his own work.

Joseanne Thu 02-Mar-23 13:11:06

GSM do you have to be actually residing in a property to be evicted? I thought the word implied a kind of physical removal of the tenant, like out on your ears.

Much of the UK media will portray this eviction as a righteous act by a strong king.

It’s anything but.

Instead of building bridges the head of state is torching them.

The banishment of his son is cruel, unnecessary and diminishes Charles.

KingCharles the cruel is trending on Twitter.

Most parents would react in this way for what is a gross betrayal of personal details.

Harry banished himself, he hasn’t needed help from Charles. Do you want better, more efficient use to be made of CE property or do you not?

Oh dear, poor Harry & Meghan!
What do they truly expect, apparently they were furious about being kicked out of Frogmore cottage, were they anymore furious than what they recently done to treat his own father King Charles & royal family. I think H&M got what they deserved… the bullies.

Joseanne Thu 02-Mar-23 13:02:14

I've just read that the property leased to Sophie and Edward, Bagshot Park, has 120 rooms! But at least they are working for the firm.

Omid Scobie has said that two other members of the RF are appalledhmm. Not named of course so maybe it's Archie and Lillibet, can't think of anyone else it could be.

Eugenie? And Jack? If he counts?
Harry and Eugenie still seem to be friends.

I used to quite like Eugenie! 😥

The QM didn’t leave Royal Lodge to Andrew. It’s a Crown Estate property where she used to live. He leased it after she died.

I think this is the explanation I was looking for, but thank you to all who tried to explain.
I might be wrong but I assume the term of Andrew’s lease must have come to an end if he’s to be moved on. Likewise the lease on Frogmore Cottage leased by Harry and Meghan. Maybe these leases had quite a short lease which under the Queen would have simply been renewed, or maybe the terms are different than those for usual leases.

grandtanteJE65 Thu 02-Mar-23 12:35:47

If this is true, my reaction is "And why not?"

Harry and Megan have spent an awful lot of time and energy telling the world they want nothing to do with the Royal Family or to have any responsibilities to the UK, so why on earth should they have a home at the expense of other citizens of the UK?

And if Prince Andrew is to be the new occupant of Frogmore Cottage it is to be hoped that a condition of his residence there is that he at least tries to behave decently from now on.

Jaberwok Thu 02-Mar-23 12:32:01

Crown property belongs to the reigning monarch for the duration of their reign, but its not the private property of the monarch, therefore it cannot be sold, it can however be leased by the Monarch at his discretion, hence P.A has a lease on Royal Lodge gifted by his mother. The late Queen did the same for H & M with Frogwell Cottage. Any revenue from the properties go to the state. This arrangement was apparently instigated in 1760 when George 111rd took the throne.

I thought I read that Michael and Zeta Douglas were living in St James Palace.

That must be a blow for HM.

A one-bedroom flat in St James's Palace is currently on the rental market for just under £4,000 a month

Anyone can rent there if they have the money and presumably if they pass all the security criteria.

I've applied. 👸
We need a little London bolthole.

Joseanne Thu 02-Mar-23 12:17:00

I think Jaberwork might be getting close saying this is probably not be a lease as we understand it. It is probably completely different for Crown properties and no doubt comes with all sorts of caveats attached. For example, private schools with large estates do not offer leases to the workers to live in. They give a Licence to Occupy which is subject to reviews. Maybe Mr. Scobie is using the wrong term here on purpose to wind things up a bit? Don't they get that M & H no longer work for the firm?
I'm beginning to change my opinion of Charles being weak and wussy if he can really do something to cut back on the farce of all these unnecessary residences.

Perhaps H&M could stay with The Appalled's if and when they visit UK?😄

Love it!! grin grin

maddyone Thu 02-Mar-23 11:22:27

Can anyone answer my question? How does it work if the Queen Mother left Andrew the Royal Lodge, but it’s crown property and it didn’t belong to her? How could she leave it to him? It wasn’t hers to leave to anyone the way I look at it? Can anyone explain?
