I live in Hull, as a City we are housing many asylum seekers, local hotels and a large University Hall of residence have been requisitioned by the council.

In the University Halls 34 young men absconded within the first fortnight.
We don’t know who they are or where they are.
A large hotel and wedding venue in a village on the outskirts is now also full of young men in an area with no facilities for them.

Hull is a poor City with many good and kind people, we have supported a lot of Ukrainian refugees, there is a large Kurdish community that have been well accepted and are now very established in the City.

Patience is now running out here, there are just too many, we have massive drug wars , a growing Albanian population, more knife crime and a City Council that is finding ways to accept more and more refugees.

They are all young men, we haven’t seen many families since the first Syrian refugees came over.

There are so many reports in the local paper of these young men having committed crimes, many of them have used cultural differences as an excuse.

I am glad the Sunak has finally done something.

Nothing personal from me to you but I’ve been doubted/ questioned on several of my posts on this thread.

The problem is that the present system encourages the placement of refugees in depressed areas, because depressed area have the facilities to house them. Hull has many under occupied hotels which lend themselves to housing refugees, because otherwise they would simply be closed and left empty.
If the system changed and asylum seekers were permitted to work whilst their application is being processed they would be unlikely to remain in those areas. They would move to where there is temporary employment.
So you may be right about what is happening. You are wrong in thinking the policy will change anything for Hull. Apart from of course removing the investment the company running the hotels is currently making and cutting the money the refugees currently bring into the council. Which will leave Hull poorer and with many more problems.

I would include Border Force and the NCA in the cuts. Few people are really aware what they do because they're not often "in your face", but they've experienced savage cuts since 2010 and can't do their job properly.

Sago, overseas students going 'missing' in their first term at university has always been a thing fwiw

I do think people get 'dumped' in places that are cheaper but this has also been happening for years, especially in the areas surrounding London. Look at places like Rochdale that has very high proportion of children's homes compared to the rest of the population. It does c ause problems when people/children with complex problems are disproportionate in volume to the general local population, especially because of lack of funding from central government. It is ok to acknowledge that.

I know Meryl’s and Sago’s areas and entirely believe what they say. It’s true that some on GN won’t have a word said against immigrants. Presumably they don’t live in areas that are adversely affected by immigrants. There are some areas of Norfolk and Suffolk that I wouldn’t consider going to, such are the problems with gangs of immigrants.

Totally agree regarding Meryl’s area, my GC are not allowed into the town or main seafront on their own (they are teenagers)

I haven’t shopped in the town centre for over 15 years, and no longer take any of the GC to the amusements or rides. Only walk along the pier off season

(I shall drive through it in about 15minutes, always check doors are locked and windows up when going through the shared space )

Perhaps people should think about the political choices they have made over the years which have contributed to these problems by cutting funding to the police and the courts and making it much more difficult for law enforcement agencies to control the behaviour they deprecate.

Working with the French, and doing anything else that will put off small boatloads crossing the Channel is the right thing to do.It’s gone on too long already.

Touting for votes from people like me, really, who do you think you are some superior being. I'm a concerned mother and grandmother of 5 as are many other people who are concerned by this policy of dumping young men who have mostly no documentation, who we know nothing about into our towns and cities. I'm worried about my granddaughters walking past these groups of men who come from countries who do not value woman.

Nope, I don't think I'm superior. Do you have a chip on your shoulder about being inferior - or something?

I'm interested in voter behaviour and how that interacts with policy.

I can substantiate all of these points.

I believe we have a big problem looming.

Just googled details of Albanian passports, ease of getting one etc. and what countries they give automatic access to.

Makes you wonder why they make the perilous journey across the channel in what are little more than rubber dinghies, after travelling across continental Europe from their country which by some standards may be poor, but not dangerous?
