As, I understand, had always been intended. Well deserved though.

It would be better if you would acknowledge the sources of your quotes, Grany

And me!

And I recall Edward and Sophie were involved in a scandal some years back when she made some remarks on record about Blair, Hague and others. The Palace tried to contain the story but it was reported in the Daily Express. She had to step back from her PR business.

Oh good. At least they're human.
I really dislike holier-than-thou perfect people.

I suspect the the title went to a Edward to further the cause of the DoE scheme, which Prince Edward is now the titular head of. Charlotte is too young as yet, but the title may yet be passed to her when Edward dies. It needs an adult figurehead I think.

The title was to be passed to Edward, hence he was given the title Earl of Essex not Duke when he and Sophie married.

I hope we see more of Edward and Sophie now they are Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. They seem quietly reliable and likeable and will just get on with the job without any fuss.

Aspen Sat 18-Mar-23 11:41:30

What is the job?

Calendargirl Sun 19-Mar-23 07:29:00

Aspen

What is the job?

Being Royal, and doing all the things associated with that.

Charity work, opening new hospitals, supporting the monarch.

As much of a job as many so-called celebrities, tv stars, game show hosts.

Calendargirl Sun 19-Mar-23 07:30:25

And promoting Great Britain, to the rest of the world, on behalf of us and the government.

henetha Sun 19-Mar-23 10:49:23

And running the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.

But all of us have proved we’re pretty good at doing things that not everyone agrees with Grany. Like posting on GN.
Evidently, according to the 100 things you should do to extend life, research is good for brains, so digging up info about the RF is beneficial to you. 😀

Alleged info ?

Alleged info ?

Sorry Anniebach. I didn’t like to say that the info Grany posts is alleged, but I’ll happily concur.
