I have a theory that the government are deliberately housing migrants/ refugees in hotels and hostels in height profile places that aggravate the local population so that people in those areas will back their Rwanda proposal. As for not being able to access public services, that’s down to years and years of Tory cut backs. These people are just being used as scapegoats. I’m so ashamed of how the rest of the world views us now.
All the millions the Government is spending on sticking plasters should be directed towards processing applications as speedily as possible so that people can start work here instead of loving in limbo, or, if found not to pass the entry requirements, returned home again.
If the reason is that there are not enough trained staff to do this why are they not spending some of the millions on training more?
I think both of these posts reflect how I feel on this subject. There of course needs to be a process to check eligibility to enter the UK, this process needs to be fair and easily accessible.

This is a very interesting read from the University of Oxford, for those who want to consider themselves informed on the subject, rather than those who read the Government skewed headlines - includes:
* In 2014 87% of asylum applications were processed within 6 months.
* In 2021 6% of asylum applications were processed within 6 months. 19% within 12 months. 53% within 18 months.
Of course there have been far more applications since 2014; there has been an increase in staff to process the applications but a Report in 2021 (as from the above link) shows that asylum caseworker staff have been "inadequately trained"; there is low moral and a subsequent high turnover of caseworkers.
And yes, it is mainly young men seeking a better, brighter future - wasn't it always thus?
The Mayflower launched in 1620 with 102 passengers, 74 male and 28 female, with a crew of 50 men. "seeking to establish a colony in the New World where they could preserve their identities but practice their religion without interference from the English government or church"
Point at the Government if there are no appointments at GP's, Dentists, if there is limited affordable housing, school places, waiting lists at Hospitals.
