All falsifying business records with intent to defraud or to cover other financial crimes. All during the period leading up to the election of him as president.

Usual stupid tweets on the way..

Orange as ever (thats not a crime but ...)

Fleurpepper Tue 04-Apr-23 22:10:52

But still many support him. Unbelievable sad

Wyllow3 Tue 04-Apr-23 22:10:55

Also coming up - possible Georgia election fraud, holding secret documents at Mar-o-laga, and the riots at the Capitol.

Whatever it takes to take him down. Though treason should be at the top of the list.

Remember they finally nailed Al Capone , I would think the most (in)famous gangster of modern times , for tax evasion
I hope Trump remembers that.

Grantanow Wed 05-Apr-23 12:55:33

Lots of dimwits ready to believe anything he says. Hope they choose a sensible jury! His accusations of bias against the judge may be grounds for further prosecution.

The man’s a dangerous lunatic and I hope he will eventually be imprisoned.

But he's getting support from so many people, that is the worrying thing. And seemingly level-headed Americans are saying that this is all about politics. I've also heard from some sources (can't recall from where but it was a scholarly article) that there may be no realistic way forwards in America other than civil war. People like Trump and Johnson (and Putin) totally narcissistic leaders who care for nothing but themselves are very very dangerous as a catalyst. Look at Hitler. We cannot be complacent.

Are we surprised ?🙄 what was more amazing were the people outside the court still saying he is the best President of America ever.
Plus did you see the comment he made about a female guard on the way in? He is a misogynist and a narcissist.

Yes they are describing it as a “cold” civil war at the moment.

You train dogs by using short and often repeated phrases. It obviously works on some people too.

Listening and reading about the 34 felony case, it seems that general opinion is that it will a difficult one to pin on Trump.

Apparently it is a question of “intent” which is difficult to prove.

DaisyAnne Thu 06-Apr-23 11:59:04

I think there are other cases to come Whitewave. You are right about intent which is why with Trump as with Capone they have gone for something that leave a trail.

Katie59 Thu 06-Apr-23 11:59:43

The difference between Trump and Al Capone is that Trump has millions of supporters that adore him and have grievances against Biden.

I’m concerned about the next court appearance being December that’s a ridiculous time to prepare a case. I’m sure he lied, he’s a politician they all lie, I hope they have a more substantial case than that or they won’t stop him

spabbygirl Thu 06-Apr-23 12:24:36

some people have the gift of making people believe whatever they say, its often given to the worst people. The sooner he's gone the better

No Katie59, NO- they don't all lie. I have many friends who are politicians, in many countries, and they don't all lie. This is a ridiculous statement. Just like the 'all politicians are the same' nonsense thrown about regularly by some.

Coco51 Thu 06-Apr-23 12:44:10

Scarily he can still run for President even if he is convicted [🫣]

Wyllow3 Thu 06-Apr-23 13:14:44

Katie59 if everyone believes that you might as well throw away democracy. I mean that! Its never ideal, but do we want to live in Putin or Trump or religious fanatic lands?

I also know some fab, dedicated and caring politicians and its hard work canvassing on the doorstep talking to people if the idea gets put about "they're all the same".

Philippa111 Thu 06-Apr-23 13:21:45

Only 38?
I would think there will significantly more still to surface or be really well hidden. Yes he is/was a despot but thankfully he was got rid of... unlike Putin and a few others on this planet.

I give thanks for today, that I live in a relatively safe democratic country...although I see that our democracy is being slowly and systematically eroded by the currents * in power.

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 06-Apr-23 13:25:33

I am glad that there is no question of me being on the jury, as I am completely convinced ( without hearing any evidence!) that he is guilty as h#ll of more or less everything for which he stands accused. He has shown nothing but contempt for any rules, truths, behaviours which do not suit him.
And the tan and the hair are are a crime somewhere? Surely?

Katie59 Thu 06-Apr-23 15:51:00

The last 5 yrs have given me no confidence at all that politicians are honest, they say anything that achieves the party agenda, if there are any with integrity they won’t get far.

Maybe the Labour lot will be different, we will see

Syracute Thu 06-Apr-23 16:25:33

Let’s not forget that Trump supporters are just obvious and loud wherever they are and they no longer go to all his events. The press only show the supporters without the reality that in NYC there were more photographers than Trump supporters . He is very unwelcome in his hometown as they know first hand what a crook he is !!

Saggi Thu 06-Apr-23 16:39:28

He’s everything you say…. but if you really believe this ‘person’ will end up in prison , you’re the deluded ones!

Cagsy Thu 06-Apr-23 16:44:35

Fleurpepper I totally agree, there are many politicians who work hard for their communities and try to make a positive difference in their lives. Of course in a democracy you have to appeal to voters - but if some of them took more trouble to understand the issues it might make a huge difference.

Silly condescending blanket statements like this deter good people from going into politics, particularly at local level. Very few people want to be world king. Most just want to help and get things done. Why besmirch them all?
