BBC News - Sturgeon's husband arrested in SNP finance probe
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65187823

I am sorry to read this as I had faith in the SNP. I hope that a police investigation into this matter will bring out the truth of the matter.

I binge watched 6 4 and enjoyed it. It is an interesting storyline.

I have no idea why this is under Christmas but I will get it moved.

yes, so did we, very well produced and acted and a tense story line

Hi there,
We've moved this post off the Christmas board, and would like to remind everyone that contempt of court protections kick in in Scotland when an arrest is made. So keep the heid, everyone who doesn't want a mistrial.

Ailidh Wed 05-Apr-23 11:59:40

I'm just about to watch 6 4, sounds good. My old TV is smart but somehow not smart enough to get itvx, so I'll have to watch on the wee ipad.

grannydarkhair Wed 05-Apr-23 12:06:15

Thanks for the info about 6 4, it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I’ve always enjoyed watching Kevin McKidd on-screen, so I’ll definitely give it a go.

I don’t know much about this but am convinced that this is why Nicola Sturgeon resigned.

Thought so myself

Me too maddyone... and resigned in such a hurry.

It was rather odd, when only a month or so earlier, after Jacinda Ardern's resignation, she had declared she still had "plenty in the tank".

Shouldn’t that read plenty in the bank

karmalady Wed 05-Apr-23 12:14:31

There is a forensic tent outside their front door, no doubt to hide removal of lots of paperwork and computers and anything found hidden. Good search happening I should think

maddyone Wed 05-Apr-23 12:26:41

volver I’m not all over social media. I do Gransnet and Facebook. No TikTok or Snapchat or Twitter for me. I chat a bit with other people on Gransnet and follow a few pages of interest on Facebook and of course follow family members. All over social media I am not. I expressed an opinion about Nicola Sturgeon, that’s all. If I had been her, I would have done exactly the same. I feel rather sorry for her because the embarrassment of this must be immense.

Callistemon21 Wed 05-Apr-23 13:09:13

eazybee

Seriously, you think she didn't know what was going on?
It was all concealed from her?

We must be careful what we say, as HopeGN has pointed out, but I always thought Nicola Sturgeon was a woman of principle even if I didn't always agree with her.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 05-Apr-23 13:21:32

I thought so too Calli. But surely a woman of principle would, as soon as she realised that there were financial irregularities (the auditors resigned after not being allowed to see the books), have left her husband, reported him to the police and then resigned.

Callistemon21 Wed 05-Apr-23 13:49:00

Love does funny things, GSM

karmalady Wed 05-Apr-23 13:50:37

lol, yes especially love of money

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 05-Apr-23 13:52:05

Wasn’t she supposed to be living with Andy Murray’s mother or was that a scurrilous rumour?

volver3 Wed 05-Apr-23 13:54:49

God it was a rumour. 🤦🏼

Along with the new town love nest she bought off Andy's mother to live in with her lesbian French diplomat lover, and the whole travel iron in the Balmoral thing.

People's imaginations never fail to impress me.

scurrilous and irrelevant, whether true or not.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 05-Apr-23 13:58:27

I was merely responding to Callistemon’s comment about love HPQ. No need to jump on me.

Is it written somewhere on GN, or does anyone have a helpful link, as to what is allowed, and not allowed, to be said on here?

Personally I dont have a clue.
[And will also need to look up what heid means].

Joseanne Wed 05-Apr-23 14:02:12

I'm in France, (no diplomat lovers here), but the news has hit the French journos. The favourite word being used is that the SNP is now at an "impasse".

Callistemon21 Wed 05-Apr-23 14:03:19

Anything that could prejudice a trial if there is one.

Why was it on the Christmas board? 🤔 If that's not a leading question?

I wasn't jumping on you GSM, just giving my opinion on what is gossip. Undoubtedly there will be more as rightly or wrongly, the SNP polarise opinions, and female politicians get more than their fair share of gossip and innuendo.

Now, referring to the thread about favourite words innuendo is a favourite of mine grin. I always think of sniggering Carry on actors saying it grin

Me too. It’s odd that the police chief visited her shortly before she resigned then resigned himself.
I think there’s going to be something massive unearthed otherwise why the arrest and not just a visit to a police station?
Odd that NS left the house just before all this kicked off too.

To wrap it in mystery, or to spruce things up a bit?
