Is this the best outcome?

VioletSky Fri 14-Apr-23 13:32:51

Hmm

Probably difficult when it's a massive royal event but I would have avoided that day, especially given the relationship issues

I doubt very much that it was chosen by Charles. No doubt it was completely governed by pre-existing other arrangements nationally, and security availability.

From a business point of view, 3 Bank Holiday Monday's in May is a P in the A. Would have been better to tag on a Friday before the Monday Bank Holiday to make a long weekend.

It would have been quite something to see both sets of Charles's grandchildren on the day, but I doubt if the little ones are invited. I don't know if there's a balcony appearance planned, or a flypast - can't see anything in the plans that have been announced thus far. C&C are doing a "short" carriage ride to and from the Palace to Westminster and the same route, which seems short-sighted, unless the powers that be aren't expecting big crowds.

Do we have to have appearance bashing?

The reason they say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder is because of the person looking, not what they are looking at

volver3 Fri 14-Apr-23 16:28:22

Its like a sickness, isn't it?

If she has had work done, so what? Lots of women do, if she wants to, then good for her.

Not only are you spitting vile criticism of her appearance RVK1CR, you are spreading the unfounded pregnancy rumours.

You're a disgrace.

Forsythia

For those who think she is beautiful, have you all seen photos of her growing up and before the obvious plastic surgery? They’re all online.

Forsythia, I agree with you, old Megsie has had a massive amount of 'work' done, teeth, face lifts, eye lifts, , hair straightening and extensions. Loads of women would look better if they had the same money and time. They can't sort her broomstick legs and ugly feet though. All that cosmetic work cannot alter her narcissistic personality and sense of entitlement. The blatant lies finished her - poor Archbishop had to tell the queen that he had not married them in a garden. I don't think she was ever pregnant, saw lots of film where the moonbump shifted - left, right, up and down. She was not suited to a job involving long hours in sometimes mundane places.

what nonsense

volver3 Fri 14-Apr-23 16:37:01

I've just realised - I had my teeth done.

Am I damned forever? 🫢

Completely agree. Vile post(er).

Cant comment about her face ...... but at least Meghan hasnt had a boob job.

Galaxy Fri 14-Apr-23 17:24:33

Well that was my fault saying for saying she is beautiful. I should have thought what would happen.

volver3 Fri 14-Apr-23 17:30:37

You shouldn't have to avoid giving someone a compliment because of what other people think of her.

Not your fault at all Galaxy.

RVK1CR's post is vile and well below what we expect to be allowed on Gransnet.

I don't think Charles and Camilla are worthy to be King and Queen
In the past Harry seemed happy enough to be a spare, I remember pictures of him with Catherine and William smiling and apparently enjoying their company.
Or was he being better at acting than his now wife ,was ?
Diana certainly was treated badly, but there was no need to make a TV programme to highlight the situation
And of course years later her youngest son does exactly the same..
I have to remind myself that, these people, the Royal Family are nothing like me. Their lives are completely out of touch with mine, and vice versa
That is why, I just don't and never will understand their values on behaviour and standards
Maybe it is because I am judging them against the late Queen ?
And who am I to do so !

varian Fri 14-Apr-23 18:20:35

None of them can ever hope to enjoy the respect and affection that so many of our country folk had for the late Queen.

They can only do their best.

I would not change places with any of them.

Anniebach Fri 14-Apr-23 18:45:29

The Queen certainly had her share of criticism and gossip throughout her reign

Devorgilla Fri 14-Apr-23 20:16:58

Yes, Anniebach, she did have her fair share but her longevity and the fact so many of us on here 'grew up' with her gave her a public pardon in her later years. Unlikely the rest of the Royals will have that.
For those of you asking if there is a flypast I am pretty sure there is. My main reason for being in London for the event. I love the flypasts, especially if they bring out that old lady, the Lancaster. I watch it on the Strand or Fleet Street where they come in right over your head. Costs a fortune I know, but the sheer expertise and precision is to be marvelled at.
Of course the main bonus is I get to see at least one daughter and possibly all three.
I'll go nowhere near the Mall and couldn't care less who is on the Balcony. I am glad though Harry is coming. I'd have liked them all to come as I think it is a bit sad a family can't at least show civility for a main event like this.

And women savaging other women over their appearance, detailing their perceived flaws... my goodness, it's an ugly trait.

As for the not-being-pregnant slur - some posters (not on here) made the same accusations about George Clooney's wife, Amal - and even suggested 'she' was in fact a 'he'... goodness only knows why some people are so full of - well, I don't even know what to call it, bile, spite?

Criticising people for what they do is one thing, but laying into them because of their looks or because they've had cosmetic procedures is really hitting below the belt.

nanna8 Sat 15-Apr-23 03:33:05

I can see why she wouldn’t want to attend the coronation. I don’t like the sound of her or how she interacts with the press at all but to discuss her personal appearance in those terms is not on.

Iam64 Sat 15-Apr-23 07:48:23

Dickens 15.04.23 at 00.53 - well said

maddyone Sat 15-Apr-23 09:30:35

I think Meghan is very attractive physically. I’m not keen on her apparent personality. I say apparent because I don’t know her, I only know what’s been reported she’s said or actually said herself in interviews.
I don’t know why she’s not coming to the coronation, none of us do. I do think it’s poor form of her to not support her husband though. I wouldn’t have ever left my husband to attend an important family event alone, and I would expect his support for me also at any of my family events.

icanhandthemback Sat 15-Apr-23 09:55:10

^ I wouldn’t have ever left my husband to attend an important family event alone, and I would expect his support for me also at any of my family events.^

If there was a choice of my husband facing things on his own or the children being left behind, especially on a Birthday, I know what my husband would expect. He'd say he was an adult and a child's needs come first. Neither would my husband expect me to run the gauntlet of a hostile family or press.
