You do all understand that YOUGOV polls aren't exclusive to Scotland ,they are taken UK wide ? That'll change the numbers I'm sure as many still think Scotland is a REGION of England ..that includes some on here !

YouGov polls are in fairness more selective than you are implying in who is asked to participate in different surveys paddyann54. If it is a survey specific to Scottish voting intentions for example, they only include people who are eligible to vote in Scotland.

Subjective most commonly means based on the personal perspective or preferences of a person—the subject who’s observing something. In contrast, objective most commonly means not influenced by or based on a personal viewpoint—based on the analysis of an object of observation only.

My Scottish friends may appear not to be objective to me, they have very strong views; I'm sure they would say, as Scots, their views are subjective. Not one in favour of independence btw.

Nobody is making fun of you or insulting you, and you seem super sensitive about anything that goes on in Scotland.
Good that most posters who are English can take criticism of politicians here and of this country. Tolerance needed.
Maybe you’re upset about NS resigning and all the questions being asked around missing money but snippy comments won’t help.
The SNP may come out of this ok or be diminished by it, nobody really knows yet, and it sets back the Indie cause I bet.
We’re all proud of our own country but need to speak out when things are wrong about it too.

They just see things from a different point of view, perhaps an objective point of view.

Ok, I'll explain it in words of one syllable.

Well I'll try, that's actually quite hard.

A very short extract of Neil's article was quoted this morning, I'm going to guess that was in order to suggest how badly the SNP were doing and how Yousaf wasn't going to last long. It was written by a known right winger. I don't think it was posted to give a balanced view of the current situation but to show the SNP in a bad light.

However, even this known right winger acknowledges that the SNP are down but not out, and are likely to be the largest Scottish party in Holyrood and Westminster for the foreseeable. So by quoting that part of the article, I am trying to remind the anti-SNP league that any hopes they have that this is the end of their bête noire, are misplaced.

I'm going to have to be more careful in future. Some people need everything explained to them, I forget that.

Most of what you write here is ok but Why spoil it by being so insulting in the first and last sentence?being rude to posters on this thread ruins any normal discussion on the SNP, why be so thin skinned, it’s politics and there are real questions about how NS her husband and others have acted.

No, it cannot. Truth is an absolute defence to libel claims, because one of the elements which has to be proven in a libel suit is falsity of the statement. If a statement is true, it cannot be false. However, in Scotland, we do not discriminate between libel and slander - we only have defamation.

As for the ferries, I do not need to read about them in the press, DH is a naval architect and has good contacts in the industry and his knowledge of what has been happening over the ferries, would be libellous were I to reproduce it here.

My personal bete noir is an incompetent government. Any government that is genuinely willing to work for the good of the whole country and to focus their efforts more broadly than just on independence for a part of the UK would be fine by me. It would be a refreshing change.
