Even more revelations about the SNP today

Police have arrested Colin Beattie, treasurer of the SNP today. Peter Murrell is still under police investigation, the unknown provenance of a £110,000 campervan parked up at Nicola Sturgeon's mother in law's driveway and now the treasurer has been arrested. What on earth is going on within the SNP? Are they trying to emulate Boris?

This slanging match is unedifying and excludes so many particpants who might have something sensible and useful on the topic the OP brought up for discussion.

It is doing nothing for the reputations of any of the participants.

Just goes to show my opinion of ALL (well 90%) politicians are corrupt, selfish, money grabbing liars. There's none left that care about the ordinary working hard public. No-one to represent the ordinary people. I'm not just talking UK here either. Almost ever civilised country in the World, and a few who aren't so civilised.

I suppose if somebody asks that question every day, one day someone might be right.

Have you got a rota going?

Wonder if NS will be arrested and questioned next being the last signatory to the SNP accounts. The other two have. For NS transparency in dealings is not applied by any other government, only the SNP with the Greens give a clear, honest account of all dealings, apparently. Wonder what the ferry fiasco will produce!

^Can't wait to see the size of tent they put outside Johnson's abode.^

There's a paucity of blue tents down in England because Scotland is using them all! grin

🤣🤣🤣

I'm sure they could find a spare Circus tent big enough in Oxfordshire. Would that be more appropriate?

Liljan Thu 20-Apr-23 16:38:59

Well said Mcbab!

Innocent until proven guilty. Only investigations at this point in time.

That's very true Nannageorge but the old saying "No smoke without fire" keeps popping up in my mind.

It's "Presumed innocent until proven guilty". It doesn't mean there hasn't been any wrong-doings. I suspected more would be revealed as soon as Ms. Sturgeon handed in her resignation

That blue 'forensic' tent was pure theatre. Kept waiting for Taggart to appear, 'There's been a murdur'. And so very alert of the Media to get there so quickly. How did they know? Same way they knew about the raid on Cliff Richard's mansion? How did that end? Oh yes, he sued both the Police and the BBC. Can't wait to see the size of tent they put outside Johnson's abode.

Nothing at all has been "laid bare"

You are sailing close to the wind and need to rein it in.

Mollygo Thu 20-Apr-23 15:24:55

Early morning arrests, investigations, resignations-all facts.
Are these events to cover up something more heinous?
As for what people do with the facts, they do same as posters on GN do. Discuss them from their own viewpoint.

Mcbab Thu 20-Apr-23 15:12:40

While you were all ranting about cake this was going on under the nose of the media but they didn’t bother to investigate because they loved Nicola for the way she didn’t bother to hide her contempt for Boris and the uk government .
Well here it is now all laid bare. Shame on her and her deceitful reason given for her resignation

volver3 Thu 20-Apr-23 14:58:40

I think you'll find that everything I posted was an actual fact. What people do with those facts is their own business.

Within the constraints of contempt of court, of course.

Well, I'm still saying nothing. Because it's a live case

Interesting though that the Treasurer got arrested and released without charge on the day that Yousaf was launching his program for government. Interesting that the police thought that an arrest at 8am was reasonable for someone who wasn't a flight risk. Interesting that the well known Unionist Rhinestone Cowboy BBC reporter thought it was appropriate to ask Yousaf if the SNP government was a criminal operation. Interesting that there have been no revelations at all but so many people are tossing about words like "theft" and "fraud".

So many co-incidences. hmm

So many conspiracy theories.

stewaris Thu 20-Apr-23 14:26:41

paddyanne54 the accounts haven't been audited yet. The auditors resigned about 6 months ago and haven't been replaced. The accounts are still to be submitted to the Electoral Commission and new auditors have yet to be appointed. I believe they are meant to be submitted by June otherwise they have a huge fine coming there way.

Amalegra Thu 20-Apr-23 12:55:13

Lots of ‘what about ism’ here! Happens whenever and wherever a new piece of what could be could be called ‘scandal’ is involved. All it does is detract from the main issue, which is why it’s mostly done, of course!

volver3 Thu 20-Apr-23 12:53:53

Frost is a liability.

Siope Thu 20-Apr-23 12:18:24

Governance issues within the SNP should be a matter for the SNP. Any alleged fraudulent activity is a matter for Police Scotland to investigate.

Whether the SNP remains the dominant party in general and Holyrood elections is a matter for the Scottish electorate.

So it’s extremely annoying to see David Frost - who did his best to trash Brexit for Northern Ireland - using this matter to poke his nose in to Scottish devolution. I can’t link to the original Telegraph article, as it’s paywalled www.scotsman.com/news/politics/scottish-tories-and-snp-condemn-lord-frost-after-peer-calls-for-devolution-to-be-put-into-reverse-4111369

Aveline Thu 20-Apr-23 12:15:22

I love Cameron Miekelson! He's just the person to get involved in investigating this. (For non Scottish readers he's a character in Scot Squad a spoof documentary about the police in Scotland. Very funny and well done)

What REVELATIONS? Taken in for questioning about accounts that were audited and passed by not o ly the Scottish auditors but Westminster ones too. Released WITHOUT charge ,
Shame you're not all chasing the Baroness MONE or any of the other tory thieves about whom there is a ton of REAL evidence .
This is just WM showing its teeth ,like they did over the gender bill and the refusal of a referendum !

Yes, I agree, in particular there was a lot of corruption involved in PPE supply and purchasing during Covid.
And a lot of Baronesses supposedly controlling costs and running projets that went wrong over the years, such as the cost of the Olympics (especially the Dome).
If anyone on the TV mentions the word "Baroness" my husband really does go off on one....
