Perhaps they all had a chat and got their stories straight before being questioned🤔 Someone must know where the missing money went and to whom.
How ironic - some HMRC staff essentially committing fraud.
Instant coffee….advice needed.
Police have arrested Colin Beattie, treasurer of the SNP today. Peter Murrell is still under police investigation, the unknown provenance of a £110,000 campervan parked up at Nicola Sturgeon's mother in law's driveway and now the treasurer has been arrested. What on earth is going on within the SNP? Are they trying to emulate Boris?

There's a difference between called in for questioning and being arrested. If the police ask you to go to the police station to answer questions to assist them in their investigations, you attend voluntarily. You can be held for 24 hours before the police must either charge you or release you.
If you're arrested the police to take you into custody. Section 11 of the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2016 says you can be held in custody for a maximum of 24 hours before the police must either charge you or release you. The clock starts when a senior officer authorises for you to be held in custody. The police can arrest you more than once in relation to the same crime. So you could be arrested, questioned, released without charge and then arrested again if new evidence came to light.

Could someone please explain to me why people are arrested rather than called in for questioning? I would have expected the former to be used when a charge was imminent. Seems all very emotive and hyped up to me.
It does seem odd.
I feel sorry for Yousaf. He has to take over a mess of a party with lots of bad dealings. I hope he will not involve himself but he needs to come and say that he will sweep it all clean. But Rishi said that too and look!
Can't believe they haven't called Sturgeon in for a "chat" yet? It was on her watch.

No comments on the case, but any political party that allows a husband and wife, or 2 brothers, or sisters or just members of the same family occupy the two key top roles in the party, is a party that has really lost the plot and it indicates very poor judgment.
Look around the world, wherever you find families running political parties, you find corruption. It may not be so in this case, but the fact that Nichola Sturgeon, could not see the dangers is a sign of very poor judgement
I agree MOnica I can't understand why this was allowed to happen.
Pending further enquiry.
Not sure why it was such an early morning arrest. Doubt he's a flight risk.
He's been released without charge

Yes I do love a good scandal volver, such is human nature. However I am not rubbish my hands in glee. I have always admired Nicola Sturgeon and I am saddened that her premiership should have ended like this. There may be absolutely no irregularities but mud does tend to stick, even to those who don’t deserve it. I know nothing about any local gossip or shenanigans so I’ll await the outcome of the police investigation.
Me too.

I do remember some posters would always be ready with the 🍿 but they're not offering it around now .
Wonder why?
🍿🍿🍿 🍿🍿🍿 Please share.
We may need more.
Oh! what a tangled web we weave,
When once we practise to deceive.
Aye right!
I'm not commenting because it's a live police investigation.
Lucky me, eh?
So don't accuse me of accepting or not accepting anything. Maybe haud your wheest, all of you, until we actually know what's going on.
Channel 4 just said support for independence is still 48% and the SNP are on to win more than 50% of Westminster seats they stand in.

As a SNP member and therefore donator through subscription, I cannot for the life of me see how this motorhome can be a legit expense. Has the 'loan' used to purchase it been repaid to SNP's funds? When we purchased our motorhome we used our own savings, after tax, plus a small bank loan.
Surely any transport for a future Independence campaign should have been leased when needed, at moderate cost? Or is that a too simple solution for our politicians?
Yes,and not parked in mummy's back yard. You know a special lock up somewhere. Don't think Boris parked rhe big red bus in his father's back yard. Talk about hypocrites.

Is that it! rofl
2 arrests and 2 police investigations in as many weeks, making national and international news headlines, an exodus of party membership and you still can't accept that there's something awry within the SNP? Come on now!
I agree with you Blossoming, I too am disappointed that Sturgeon, having been so admired for her strong leadership and apparently unblemished political career, has ended it all under such a cloud.
I got told off last week for using that expression because it was thoughtless.
Doesn't matter if one is slagging off the unpopular girls, though...
Rubbing, not rubbish!
There is none so blind as he who will not see…….

Well obviously something is going on, otherwise the police wouldn't be wasting their time investigating and subsequently arresting public figures. Exactly what remains to be seen but it wouldn't take a giant leap of faith to consider that Nicola Sturgeon's surprise resignation has some connection with these events.
I agree, though if this was Westminster, some posters would be asking what these events were concealing.
You know nothing Jon Snow nannageorge
this will all go away Don't think it will for a very long time paddyann, judging from the exodus of SNP members in the past 3 weeks.
None of you know what's going on but you love a good scandal, eh?
It's a national and legal scandal volver not just one that's piqued our interest, but I appreciate that it must smart.
