The weak Prime Minister

Sunak’s immigration bill was he thought done and dusted, and one he was perfectly content with.

That was before the head bangers threatened him with disruption and division before the elections, if he didn’t cave into their demands.

He caved in. Power has been taken away from our judiciary and given to Braverman.

What a weak individual.

Daiane Abbott is headline news. Her twitter is interesting too

‘I wish to wholly and unreservedly withdraw my remarks and disassociate myself from them.’

Seriously?

I see Cleverly is following his predecessors and failing folk as they try to escape a wore torn country. In this case it is Sudan.

This needs to be on the correct thread as it is detracting from this threads conversation.

Or perhaps that is your intention?

Some news suggests that employers are organising coaches to Egypt for British employees. Embassy staff have been evacuated.

Ww2 my intention is that most politicians from all parties qualify for a place on the Ship of Fools. Or are you trying to prevent me from stating the obvious?

Good grief no, I was just trying to be helpful as your comment would have a better response on the Dianne Abbot dedicated thread.

It is a good job they can rely on their employees in some cases. They certainly can’t rely on Cleverly.

I think that Dunt’s illustration of how poorly ministers perform largely through ignorance, is highlighted very well when looking at the Foreign Office over the past few years.

Individual initiative will always trump reliance on the Uk government.

Tell that to the Afghan British interpreters.

ronib Mon 24-Apr-23 09:25:08

Exactly what real information is there on the Afghan interpreters?

How very Conservative.

ronib Mon 24-Apr-23 09:30:21

Well volver3 good luck with waiting for the Uk government to rescue you.
Personally I would rather take the initiative than hang around.
Your call of course

Do tell ronib, what is it you’re going to do exactly?

ronib Mon 24-Apr-23 09:32:28

Ps your faith in the Uk government is a bit surprising but your choice

volver3 Mon 24-Apr-23 09:34:30

I can still remember when we had governments that thought its main purpose was keeping its citizens safe.

Ah, the good old days, eh?

ronib Mon 24-Apr-23 09:35:17

Well coming from acfar sighted family background, my grandfather acted in a way he saw fit when the Nazis and Mussolini came to power. He used his initiative to protect his family to the best of his ability. Hard to understand now I suppose.

ronib Mon 24-Apr-23 09:36:23

Volver 3 that is a fairy story?

volver3 Mon 24-Apr-23 09:38:03

Yeah, of course.

My ancestors would just have sat there and complained that nobody had sent a limo for them.

(Well not the one who was wounded in the RAF or the one who went deaf on the ack-ack guns, but all the others certainly.)

ronib Mon 24-Apr-23 09:39:20

My ancestors also died in the wars

Whitewavemark2 Mon 24-Apr-23 09:49:43

ronib you are comparing apples and pears.

People fled from their government in Germany.

Zaghari-Radcliffe had no choice- Johnson let her down.

The Afghans had no choice -Raab let them down

Now we have Brits in Sudan. One would hope tha5 Cleverly had learnt something.

Katie59 Mon 24-Apr-23 09:53:54

It’s a war zone, chaos is the order of the day, negotiating safe access the the airport or other extraction zones is difficult and dangerous. You can be sure Cleverly has had no input other than “get it done”.
It’s up to diplomats at Khartoum who know the local leaders to make arrangements and the RAF who have plenty of capability to fly them out.

volver3 Mon 24-Apr-23 09:55:03

The diplomats they flew home yesterday, you mean?

ronib Mon 24-Apr-23 11:07:12

Volver 3. Maybe flight home has something to do with the long standing concept of diplomatic immunity?
