Attack in France

It been said that this person has claimed to be a Christian, although his actions hardly reflect the teachings of Christ. However it was said on the news yesterday that many asylum seekers claim to be Coptic Christians when claiming asylum, even though they are not Christian. This is because Coptic Christians are persecuted terribly in some areas, and it’s possible that many of you will remember the terrible beheadings of Coptic Christians by ISIS a few years ago. These people think they will get asylum if they make this claim. Nonetheless, whatever religion this person is seems totally irrelevant and certainly his actions are not in keeping with any religion at all, and in any case he had apparently already been awarded asylum status.

It seems to me that maybe there are people who are simply evil. I don’t believe in the idea of original sin, but something in that person’s make up predisposes them to behave in a wicked way, abhorrent to the rest of us. I don’t believe these people can be rehabilitated. They need to be managed. Most probably in a secure facility for the rest of their lives.

Just why? I don’t understand why. The country that gave him, I assume it was him, refuge.

I think he might have been or about to be refused citizenship and therefore not been given asylum

Refugee status does not automatically give you citizenship.

No, I had heard it reported that he had become a Swedish citizen but that was not correct.

I imagine a Syrian refugee will have MH issues of varying degrees, so I imagine that is why people have jumped to that conclusion. It doesn't take anything away from what has happened to these poor children. The news atm says they are all stable

There are million of refugees worldwide, there are millions of people who have gone through other traumas.

They don't all go round stabbing tiny children.

I saw a gbnews video today of Dan Wooton saying immigration and 'the boats' must be controlled to protect our children, all based on this one incident.
All the comments were in the same vein.
Yet this guy wasn't 'undocumented' was he, if he has refugee status in Sweden?
It's a huge overreaction, in my view.

Having seen him on film he was very deliberate and calm, it really looked like a premeditated revenge attack.. absolutely chilling..

I hate the way THIS site brings race into everything....well only the race of anyone who does something bad and isn't white nd "british".
This man clearly has mental health issues ,what he has done is horrific but I dont think his race.creed or colour should be brought into it .

his background comes into it,the culture in his country syria. The fact that there was no hesitation in using a murderous weapon with a blade.

I suppose the reason it is relevant is because of the recent history of his country, which many people seem to have forgotten as more tragic events take place.

It is because of events in Syria that he escaped, got to Sweden and then obtained refugee status, but why he then wanted to live in France I don't know.

Yes, his country of origin, his religion (presumably he was persecuted by Assad and escaped because of this) is part of who he is and could be relevant.

However, as I already said, millions of others do not act as he did despite their previous traumas.
It was a premeditated evil act.

Why the necessity to state the bleedin' obvious. Of ourse every country will have it's own nationals who carry out wicked, destructive acts. Posters are questioning the vetting procedures of authorities in allowing foreign nationals who are sometimes known to have issues relating to mh, or terrorist sympathies free movement. Of course the danger more often than not comes from within, as demonstrated almost weekly in the US, when some person with a grievance goes on the rampage with a gun.

We only know the police referred to him as a fou yes, but apparently, from what I understand, it was only after he was pinned down and arrested that he became like a maniac babbling incoherently. You cannot know what was in his mind. Saying ‘it looked like’ calmness cannot tell us his state of mind which equally could be an incoherent babble plus an obsessive determination set on one thing that morning.

It's only natural when someone perpetrates an atrocity like this to speculate on his mental state/potential terrorist etc etc..
I wonder if he deliberately set out to draw as much attention to himself as possible. He's been living rough. Is unwanted anywhere and has literally nothing left to lose. The worst that could happen is prison which at least would give him a roof over his head. Even if he's deported back to Syria he'd be back in a country that speaks his own language. He could easily have been an economic migrant playing the asylum seeker card so might have nothing much to fear from the Syrian regime. This is all just me speculating. It's all any of us can do after all.

He’ll certainly be unwanted everywhere now,*Aveline*, but he did have refugee status in Sweden. Only he wanted that in France instead, but it was refused.

I don't think it is an over reaction. There are plenty of cases documented, and one attack is one too many. We have enough of our own thugs, without importing more.

The Guardian (Friday the 9th of June) has an update on the atrocities committed by this Syrian.

He was married to a Swedish lady for one decade (10 years). His status is Asylum however, surely he has a "SWEDISH ASYLUM RESIDENCY CARD " ..

Obviously, the relationship between this psycho and the Swedish woman soured.

He is in POLICE CUSTODY.

They are investigating and we should hear more news within a few days.

There is definitive proof of his stabbings of the 4 children and 2 elder gentlemen aged 73 & 78 years old.
One of the children is Dutch and one of the children is British and 2 are French nationals.

Macron has stated the signs look positive for the injured victims, and the Dutch minister for foreign affairs said the little girl was out of danger. Has the UK government made any statements about the British child?
