Is there anyone here on GN still prepared to stand and say that it is not- and give evidence to the effect?

You always cause trouble Fleurpepper no matter what you call yourself, and then pretend to be innocent. How many times have you been banned from this site?

Come on, don’t be shy, tell us?

Millions of people Do Not Agree with your views…….get over it!

U think you'll find that the majority are now opposed to Brexit.

Don’t think so …….

Don’t think so …….

The most recent poll suggests otherwise. You can check it out yourself.

DaisyAnneReturns Sun 11-Jun-23 23:25:42

It's always worth checking rather than guessing. In a recent poll (May 2023) 55% thout wexwere wrong to leave, with 33% thinking it was the right decision.

The short version is that I killed my computer
That made me laugh, wondering what the computer did to deserve that!

As well as kittylester's post!

It's done, no bewailing, gnashing of teeth, clutching of pearls will change that and we have to move on, not dwell in the past.
Nor any breastbeating!

Often events don't go the way we hope they will, both in our own lives and for countries too. We have to pick ourselves up, start again, perhaps in another direction, and work towards a positive outcome.

It had been giving up for some time Callistemon. I had nursed it carefully and, following the tradition set by some of our more senior politicians of blaming someone who is held in some esteem and didnt really have anything to do with it, I blame Microsoft for it's final demise grin

I killed one a while ago, DaisyAnneReturns and it was a mere youngster, luckily still under guarantee. However, I lost a lot of files and photos.

Ah well, I now have to make a further confession. As the old computer clicked its last, I trotted off and bought a new one. This had a computer equivalent of a breakdown soon after I got it up and running. I took it back. The nice people exchanged it. Guilt made me decide to book in to have the setup done by the tech people. This one also had a breakdown, but this time someone else's hand was on the tiĺler. They suggested it was a bad batch (I'm still blaming Microsoft). So I ended up with an Android tablet. I am currently getting back to doing the things I could do previously but being very careful not to let MS in - oh, and I am logging my passwords elsewheresmile

The subject matter might be interesting but the presentation is deliberately provocative, designed to raise hackles, so posters, whether they voted Leave or Remain, perhaps feel that they should respond.

The OP is not the only person to chat to casual acquaintances of other nations - or even be related to them in some cases - but I doubt many make such derogatory remarks as those Fleurpepper met.

It must have been so embarrassing, Fleurpepper, sitting amongst such rude people and having to admit you are British.

That wasn't what my post was about Whitewavemark. I agree that if there were another referendum and the majority voted for a reversal of Brexit that would be democratic, so why am I constantly seeing references to the undemocratic vote by a majority in favour of Brexit?

Oreosmile.

(a) it was a tiny majority as a proportion of he total population. It should never have been allowed.

(b) We were lied to by the Leavers and if you don't accept that, please do some research.

I think that the reason why so many of us are still angry is that we saw through the lies and couldn’t understand why, in the run up to the referendum, the lies weren’t called out. Or, if they were eg during the debate between Johnson and Ruth Davidson and several others, everyone ignored the truth that Davidson was stating because they were too busy giving Johnson rapturous applause every time he came out with one of his three word sound bites. Farage was given so much air time even though he didn’t have a political position and what he was saying was blatantly racist and xenophobic. And any mention of Ireland was ignored. I was brought up not to lie and I still struggle to witness people succeeding by doing so.

Perhaps someone/anyone could kindly explain why they come on a thread like this and then moan about it? I often look at some of the other threads, think that the subject is of no interest to me and so I pass on. I don't bother to read them and nor do I look and ask why the OP is bothering.

You say that the uk is officially your home. Does that mean that Switzerland isn’t.

One reason for Brexit and probably the most important for the likes of Mogg & Co.

Taxation. The EU had announced that they were bringing in laws to stop the use of off shore companies etc etc.
wef 1 January 2021. The transition period ended on 31 December 2020.

Brexit was and never will be a one day event. It’s ramifications are felt every day.

Indeed the changes we made are. But hammering on about a passed vote nicknamed Brexit rather than how we are governed today and tomorrow will not make anything any better.

What do you want to do? Live in the past or move forward to the future ?

There is plenty of comment about the current situtation elsewhere. Perhaps you've missed it?

The trouble is, Wyllow, she keeps bringing up Brexit with depressing regularity. The vain hope is always that the drum will stop being banged and she will move on.

Does it matter. You can ignore the thread!

Foxygloves Sun 11-Jun-23 21:58:48

yes, some are, again and again, by stating or intimating, that the UK is not my country. It is, and has been for 53 years, and officially for over 50. This is discriminatory, and illegal in British Law
Can you quote one post from the current thread which does this? .

I'd say you are causing trouble, in the most appalling personal attacks, poppyred.

''I don’t think anybody is discriminating against anybody on grounds of age, sex, nationality or anything.''

yes, some are, again and again, by stating or intimating, that the UK is not my country. It is, and has been for 53 years, and officially for over 50. This is discriminatory, and illegal in British Law.

Breastbeating did you mean to say? As said, Johnson's demise is a game changer, and Brexit has been proved, beyond a shadow of doubt. to have NOT been won democratically, and to have been a disaster. So yes, it will be mentionned again, and again some more, because of this. Not a single benefit so far, and people now do know, that project fear was project reality, and that it is an unmitigated disaster for this country, which is mine, as well as yours.

CheersMeDears Sun 11-Jun-23 21:20:54

I agree with you WhenIwasyourage, attacks are unpleasant aren't they. However, if one has a "magical life" with such an array of social events, with so many international young friends, why is one not finding a more convivial topic of conversation to have with them? Banging on about brexit must be as boring for them as it is for us. I'm sure they'd appreciate the change of topic as much as we would.

Galaxy Sun 11-Jun-23 21:15:03

I will feel quite discriminated against if anyone expects me to start breastfeeding again.

Reported as personal attack irrelevant to the thread. What was your previous name.

I am British and have been for 50 years. So not only is discriminating on grounds of nationality is illegal in British Law, discriminating on false grounds and assumptions, against another British citizen, even more so.

I’ve always been Poppyred I don’t cause trouble…..

I am annoyed about the nasty attacks on the OP and others who support her We are all entitled to our opinion about Brexit - mine is the same as those who regard it as a dreadful self-inflicted stupidity based on lies - but there is no excuse for some of the rude comments on this thread.
