The headline in the Inependent.

Had he not released parts of the "in confidence" report and led an attack to undermine the Parliamentary Committee and those on it, it would have been less, but this brought it up to a recommendation of 90 days and removal of his pass.

Wyllow3 you realise that GB news has the highest audience over BBC and Sky News?
The opposition might just have landed an own goal - but let’s wait and see.

You’ve misinterpreted the information ronib, BBC News has 9.7m audience, it’s still by far the most viewed channel.

Can’t believe how much time, effort and publicity given to this. Many politicians lie, we know that. Someone has it in for him. Catch criminals, catch spies, sort out the health system for goodness sake. We are just as bad here, anything to distract from urgent health issues in the here and now.

Let's put this right once and for all nana8. All politicians do not lie. Yes, they may spin and put things in the best light but they do not necessarily lie and they certainly do not lie to Parluament and then refuse to retract that lie. Just because some people commit a murder does not justify you going out and committing one too. It is an argument lacking any normal logic.

This man, having been honoured with the highest position in the land, has lied against the rules of our dedemocracy. If he had lied in this way in court he would have spent some time in prison for perjury. The people who make our laws should be held to the same rigour as those who carry it through.

It is appalling that there are some who are so keen on personality politics that they think it's all one big joke. It seems they have lost their own sense of morality.

Those MPs who have choose to absent themselves for the day of the vote are simply cowards and are not defending our country. That they will vote against or abstain is unbelievable. They show themselves to belong to a party that does not believe in the Democratic rules of this country.

Gb news beats Sky news and Bbc Farage leaves competitors lacking
Gb news gone from strength to strength
And with BJ as guest host who knows?

Primrose53 Fri 16-Jun-23 09:16:07

We now have foul mouthed fishwife, Angela Rayner calling out BJ when she and Starmer were drinking and eating curry during covid at a works do but managed to wriggle out of that. Likewise the bright red trout pout Beth Rigsby who was banned from reporting on Sky news for attending Kay Burley’s birthday party who was herself removed from our screens for 6 months.

There you go ronib

From what I have seen you are talking about a five hour period on one day. That does not make GB News the most watched channel.

For goodness sake primrose do you have to stoop to such third rate media language.
It really doesn't go with your name.

What does this childish outburst of name calling have to do with a Prime Minister lying to parliament?

Some of us watch it just to see what rubbish is spoken.

Which awful rag have you been reading now?

westendgirl I am just thinking that Harriet Harman has gone into overdrive with her comments - that’s her perogative after all - but the great media spin machine has the ability to churn it up against her. Just a thought. Masters of deception all of them - sadly.

Your posts are not making sense?

It's *ronib's famous 'stream of consciousness' 😂

ronib Fri 16-Jun-23 09:54:11

Can’t help it if you choose unconsciousness. But wait awhile this still has legs.

Still not making sense, ronib!

Do you know what a 'stream of consciousness' is?

nanna8 Fri 16-Jun-23 10:09:57

Just wondering where I said ‘all’ politicians lie. ‘Many’is not the same as ‘all’ but perhaps for some it might be. Language changes and develops, especially English it seems. I suspect Boris will be back, same as his big brother Donald.

MaizieD do you know that we are returning to the 17th century in invoking lengthy suspensions from the Commons? Erskine-May

As far as Johnson is concerned it’s done ronib. The threats are just hot air, with no foundation - it was a Tory heavy panel for goodness sake, Harriet Harman’s role was only to chair it, the poor woman, it must rank as the worst job of the year. The current posturing are like the dying throes of an empire. I’d advise Tory voters to start putting their support and energies behind Sunak, who is the only chance left.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 16-Jun-23 10:24:16

If they are relying on Sunak, then I would give up.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 16-Jun-23 10:29:46

I see Johnson is going to write for the Daily Mail.

The right and proper place for him I would have thought😄😄😄

There is no other option though is there Whitewavemark2, another leadership election would not help, and he’s being undermined by all the in-fighting. I think he’s an honourable man in comparison to Johnson.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 16-Jun-23 10:47:37

That isn’t saying much though. Sunak’s ideology is no different to Johnson’s.

Sunak’s economic policies are straightforward free market, look at how the Freeport’s are shaping up, sleaze, tax avoidance, smuggling and the erosion of workers rights - all foretold but ignored. His instinct is to favour the wealthy, thus ensuring a continued widening equality gap.

He is pushing the NHS into oblivion and has nothing to say about social care.

Nothing will change except the lies won’t be so frequent, although he has been caught out a number of times.

His loyalty to this country will only last until he emigrates full time to the USA - almost certainly as soon as he loses the premiership.

Where are you getting this stuff from, ronib? This is another desperate attempt to cast doubts on the Privilege's Committee, isn't it?

You do realise that a huge amount of our constitutional practice derives from the 17thC?

Parliament is sovereign. Parliament can make whatever bloody 'rules' regarding its procedures that it likes and it can use them whether they are 300 years old or 3 years old.

Do you know that the Bill that just went through the Lords which allows a minister to make something law that has already been rejected in another bill by Parliament is allowing the minister to use powers that date back to Henry VIII?

You really should stop reading guido fawkes.

ronib Fri 16-Jun-23 10:54:03

MaizieD I didn’t get this information from Guido Fawkes! It’s Erskine May….. good grief!
So you are okay with a return to the 17th century? Fine

Not that you are biased and don't seem to understand what Johnson is accused of then.

ronib Fri 16-Jun-23 10:56:54

Actually I was looking for information to see what overwhelming crimes other mps had committed in order to be barred for 90 days. I think that justice needs to be proportionate don’t you?

I have to admit that I thought people were being a bit harsh on Sunak, saying he was weak. If he doesn't allow a proper vote on this on Monday, he is certainly weak.
