Am so upset and outraged that a mother was arrested with her young son by Met Police as having not paid bus fare…Mother had paid bus fare .. am physically disgusted with MET police
They have traumatised this young boy and CANNOT understand these charges..

No, I am definitely not, there was a thread about it quite recently. There were those opposed to the training not believing themselves to need it and those who had already done it and found it positive and beneficial

Mollygo Mon 31-Jul-23 15:43:50

VioletSky

I always laugh when one of you says that

I only answer what is said to me

You are the ones who like to make threads about me, I'm just dragged along for this nonsense

I always laugh when you declare a discussion dead because it doesn’t go your way. Pretending you are perfect suits your pseudonym VS. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 15:48:15

See what I mean

It destroys discussion

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 15:48:55

As soon as it starts, I give up on the actual discussion because I know what's coming next

Sounds like it’s a regular thing then. I wonder why?!? shock

OK VioletSky as you have frequently posted that posters who do not agree with your point of view are showing privilege and bias.

It would be helpful and interesting if you could explain why you think that they/we are demonstrating privilege and unconscious bias in the context of this thread.

Thank you in advance.

So much Privilege

Black woman is responsible for all ramifications of not showing a ticket even if those ramifications are over the top

You guys, not responsible for your own comments on gransnet, my fault for disagreeing or "making threads about me"

Unconscious bias is rife

I'm a woman. I show my ticket or pass, on London Transport, when required. What bit did she find hard?

I didn't know the thread was about you.🤔

Oh, sorry, I should have clarified that I'm a white woman. I thought we all had to show proof of payment. 🙄

DiamondLily Mon 31-Jul-23 16:50:25

Oreo

VioletSky
It’s not about biting or biting back it’s about your comments insisting this case is all about conscious or unconscious bias.
It really isn’t.
If the woman had been white and kicked off in the same way the results would have been the same.
You have to show proof of paid for travel.Whatever race or colour you are.

Yes, I seriously don't know what the issue is. Is anyone seriously saying that, if someone is a certain race/colour, they don't have to produce proof like everyone else?

If they are.... I've done the training, and that would be seen as patronising..🙄

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 16:56:04

Again though

I have not disagreed at any point about everyone needing to show their ticket

What I have said is that the video shows an obviously confused woman, a crying child, and manhandling that continued for at least a few minutes after showing her ticket and a non threat who did not need handcuffs

There is no abuse by this woman in evidence we have seen so far

If you have a problem with my take on the evidence, that's fine but questioning me about things I haven't said is pointless

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 16:58:39

If new evidence comes to light I will take that into consideration and change my stance on what led up to the arrest, and whether handcuffs were indeed necessary

But if I make judgements before seeing all the evidence that is unconscious bias and I won't condemn her without proof

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 16:59:51

Neither should anyone... That's my whole argument about what unconscious bias is

Mollygo Mon 31-Jul-23 17:08:58

Yes it does VS. Why do you do it?

Today 15:48 VioletSky

As soon as it starts, I give up on the actual discussion . . . Yes you do VS.

. . . because I know what's coming next.

And so do we . . . every time.
And here you are doing exactly as predicted. VS 👏👏

Do you refuse to show your ticket when asked?
I don’t, and it’s not just because I’m not black.
Do you throw a tantrum and flounce off when things don’t go your way?
I don’t, but I do know someone who does.

If the lady this thread is supposed to be about, had shown her ticket when asked, this thread would not exist.

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 17:12:28

It isn't me though is it Molly

And asking me more questions as if I have questioned any part of those events

Stop being so personal, or you will push me to report, you are lucky I didn't report the ASC comment comparing me to a child

Maybe I should

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 17:13:29

We have guidelines for a reason you know, to stop people just deliberately antagonising others

I asked you two questions up thread, both pertaining to you accusing others of privilege and unconscious bias

I was polite and courteous, not rude or patronising.

Any chance you could answer them please?

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 17:46:44

I already answered. There are more examples I can quote

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Jul-23 18:05:25

So basically VioletSky you feel justified in saying that other posters on this thread including me are guilty of unconscious bias and privilege, just because they do not agree with your point of view.

I would call that prejudice on your behalf…

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 18:13:58

Prejudiced in what way?

I have explained how I work to not let unconscious bias guide my opinions

Unconscious bias is unconscious, that's the point

Like, assuming someone deserving of particular treatment when there is no evidence to suggest they did

The child, all of you would view as innocent at least, surely?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Jul-23 18:17:19

VioletSky I cannot believe that you cannot grasp that if the women had showed her ticket / travel pass when first asked none of what followed would have happened.

Cause and effect

She caused her child upset by not showing her ticket.

Allsorts Mon 31-Jul-23 18:23:45

Why was she so confrontational? Just show the flipping ticket, don’t cause a scene and upset your child. We shouldn’t have to put up with over aggressively people who seem to think rules don’t apply to them it’s as if they want trouble.

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 18:24:28

I don't know why she didn't how her ticket

Prejudiced how?

DiamondLily Mon 31-Jul-23 18:30:47

Concious or unconscious bias doesn't come into it. Everyone, if asked, has to produce proof of payment.

If you don't, they will take it further, regardless of colour/creed etc.

I do t get trying to turn a simple request into some sort of race issue.

London Transport rules apply to everyone that uses it.🙄

VioletSky Mon 31-Jul-23 18:43:04

In the versions of the video I have seen, she appears to have the ticket in her hand the whole time

So something has gone wrong somewhere along the line

I will wait to see what other evidence comes to light but it has been more than a week now
