‘Grandad’s Pride’. Really?

More like ‘smut under the radar’ hoping to make this acceptable (inclusive?) behaviour. Yuk.

A PRIDE children’s book featuring men in bondage gear was shown to four-year-olds in pre-school, it has emerged.

Parents had raised concerns with staff at Genesis Pre School, in Hull, East Yorkshire, after it was brought to their attention that children were being exposed to the images.

A staff member had checked with parents of the nursery pupils if they were happy with the contents of the book Grandad’s Pride by Harry Woodgate to be shown to their children, but one flagged images of “partially naked” men in “leather bondage gear” as concerning.

A member of staff then defended the images, arguing that children wouldn’t understand the erotic and sexualised depictions.

What are your thoughts on this book?

I had a couple of horse fly bites this year that took over my whole leg

So much bitey stuff around this year

I’m doing my bit for the bees, planted a rosebush in a pot in my backyard in Spring, it’s blooming lovely now.Bent over it for a sniff of the heavenly scent and an angry bee zoomed straight for me!
Ungrateful or what? I legged it indoors and slammed the door.

Bees are ungrateful creatures. I had one indoors today, through the window, and it was endless work trying to return it to the garden.

I'd never harm a bee, so was trying to capture it, in a glass, with a card over it, to let it loose.

This bee was one of the awkward squad - jeez, what a palaver getting it out, without getting stung.🙄

Managed it in the end.👍

We did see many diverse dogs which were cute

Do you mean proper mongrels aka bitzers, or posh ones like cavapoos, labradoodles etc who think they're a cut above the usual mixed breed dogs?

I hate picnics now, if I sat down on a rainbow blanket I would have to roll over to get up again and still need a hand.
Also wasps attack my jam donut and any wine or cider gets knocked over.We are inclusive of my DD’s dog tho and very grateful he is eating the leftovers.

I have to have a chair now Oreo, and preferably a table too!
No more blanket on the ground for me these days 😃

No more Billy Jo Spears song inspiration for you then....😉

wink

Ooh, you are awful but then I should have known that 😁
I got taken to Diamond Lil's once years ago!

You would always be welcome, but please note I don't wear bondage gear now....not only would I frighten the horses, I'd bloody terrify the neighbours.,lol 😉

It was all fur coats and no knickers back then.

God I thought that Liebfraumilch and hock died a thankful death in the 70's..🥴🥴

DH won a bottle of Liebfraumilch in a raffle the other week.
I did check the date with my specs on and it says 2022 so it's still trodden by worthy peasants in lederhosen!!

Is it wine o'clock yet?
Just going to pour a cheeky little NZ SV 😃

My worst memory of Lockdown is Sainsbury’s substituting four bottles of Sauvignon blanc with Blue Nun…or Bleugh Nun as we called it.

My father-in-law requested "Blanket on the Ground" as one of his funeral music pieces 😁
There were a few suppressed giggles 🤭

VioletSky Fri 25-Aug-23 18:32:38

Oreo typical eh

Obviously you are doing a wonderful thing for the bees in general and they are just daft

I am allergic to bees, discovered it as a child when I tried to rescue one from drowning. So ungrateful it tried to kill me!

IClaudius Fri 25-Aug-23 18:35:22

You're all being very mean to Liebfraumilch and Blue Nun! They have just as much right to their place on the wine aisle as your Beaujolais and Pinot Grigio you know! You're a winophobic!

Is the definition of a winophobic someone who isn't inclusive because they exclude some wines from their wine cellar IClaudius?

I've heard a few interesting song choices for funerals in the last few weeks.

Made me think I must choose.
Not Blanket on the Ground!

Iam64 Fri 25-Aug-23 21:35:36

I confess to rather enjoying Blanket on the Ground and other country and western type songs. Dolly Parton. Kris Kristofferson, Johnnie Cash and co. Dead common and over emotional I know.
Picnics - in recent years, I’ve only put them together for long car journeys so I can avoid Motor way service stations, other than Tebay or those in `France are to be avoided.

I do like Country and Western music (and the song) but not sure I'm up to blankets on the ground any more.
It's the getting up again which is the problem 😁

Galaxy Fri 25-Aug-23 22:05:43

My dad brought me up on a diet of country and western as a child so I am hooked. There is a funny one entitled ' You can keep him Jolene' grin

Smileless2012 Fri 25-Aug-23 23:21:58

I like the sound of that one Galaxygrin.

IClaudius Fri 25-Aug-23 23:31:21

Maybe we could all sit on this blanket on the ground. We can personalise it with a message too. Now what could we put? hmm

Rosie51 Fri 25-Aug-23 23:40:49

There are only 2 biologies and 3 sexualities....... male and female.........straight, homosexual or bi-sexual...... everything else is personalities.

Rosie51 Fri 25-Aug-23 23:42:06

Meant to quote IClaudius but quote function failed, or maybe I made a mistake.

IClaudius Fri 25-Aug-23 23:44:56

Could be tiny writing Rosie51 but we can give it a go?

Rosie51 Fri 25-Aug-23 23:48:19

IClaudius

Could be tiny writing Rosie51 but we can give it a go?

We can condense it down to

Two sexes and 8 billion personalities

then the writing can be bigger. Still the factual truth grin

You could do...just don't expect a rush to buy the raffle tickets lol🥴

Year ago, when I lived at home with my parents, wine wasn't kept in the home and drunk daily, as it is now.

Every Christmas, my Dad used to proudly bring out a bottle or two of Blue Nun, Black Tower, Liebfraumilch or Piat Dor, and think it was the height of sophistication lol 🥴

If he felt really posh, out came the Babycham, in the proper glasses, with the reindeer on, complete with a morello cherry in it..🙂

He was obviously all inclusive...he didn't care what he made us drink as long as it felt posh..lol

They are great for a sing-a-long. Mainly the same subjects...crops dying, poverty, dog dying, wife leaving, hearts broken and people getting shot/killed/maimed.🙂

Good old songs though. 👍

Smileless2012 Sat 26-Aug-23 09:15:29

I have six of the proper Babycham glasses DL complete with the little reindeer and will treat myself to a couple of small bottles at Christmas. Problem is the glasses are the wrong shape so the Babycham very quickly loses its fizzangry.
