I came across this article posted on MN.
It strikes me as very perceptive as Harry yet again drags up his mother’s death at the Invictus Games.
It’s so inappropriate and disrespectful to those thousands of injured servicemen and their relatives that an over-privileged, extremely wealthy individual constantly turns the subject to himself.

I feel so sorry for Charles, the number of people he knows through his charity work and people he met because he was prince of Wales,

I had a friendship with a man for several years, my young daughters attended a youth club he ran , a lovely person and good friend. I was so upset when I learned a few years after he left the town where I was living and where he once lived he was charged with offences involving illegal sexual acts.

I assume Annie that you did not pursue the friendship once the accusations emerged? You did not visit him (like Andrew and Epstein) or write letters to him saying you hoped the accuser would disappear (like Charles did to Peter Ball).
It isn't a question of meeting people and being deceived by them, it's a question of continuing to support the wrong people and being part of a group of people who believe their rights surpass any other person's, and so using and abusing others is OK.
When you think about it is absolutely obvious that someone like Meghan raised in a completely different culture, writing about bias against women in adverts as a teenager, isn't going to fit into that world. I don't suppose she ever imagined the reality, having been fed beforehand the myth of family presented to the public. No wonder she wanted out.

Yes, he didn’t speak of his mothers death or the alleged neglect of his family, a speech which wasn’t ‘all about Harry’

He talked about his mum in 2017 in a show called Diana.

You must be obsessed with him, recalling this show from 2017 and always leaping in to defend him on GN.

Anniebach Sun 10-Sept-23 10:32:43

If in a show called Diana would one talk about Daphne

WellsRose Sun 10-Sept-23 10:35:36

Good point Glorianny. Also after Savile's death, it came out that lots of people. John Lydon was interviewed in the late 1970s. He knew it was happening but the interview was never released. You would think that if a lowly Sex Pistol was aware that the Palace would be aware and advise Charles. It's so strange that so many powerful men got away with serious sex crimes and it only after they died.

WellsRose Sun 10-Sept-23 10:42:41

Providing facts does not make you obsessed. I remember watching the Diana programme with William and Harry presenting although I did have to look up the date.

Anniebach Sun 10-Sept-23 10:43:22

Glorianny. She was 37 and an intelligent woman , you may believe her tale about dating Harry - ‘I didn’t know anything about him, I asked my friend ‘is he nice’.

To her mother - I’ve got a date with Prince Harry

Who's Daphne?

I'm not sure Meghan came to the family with any preconceived images of life within the institution because by her own admission she says she knew nothing about them. Like, "Harry, who is he?" 🤣
Pull the other one.

I didn't say she didn't know anything I said she probably believed the hype which is put out (and which a lot of GNers seem to believe as well). That the royal family is just a happy ordinary loving family, and then reality struck.

Oops X post with Anniebach
Sorry, catching up here from across the channel.

Got to be honest i could meet someone from another Royal Family and not know who they were. Ive been to the Dutch and Danish Royal Residences.

This thread has become completely ridiculous and just going round in circles. I've got cooking apples to freeze and lunch to cook, so as they say, I'm out of here! Annie, I hope all is well with you, and that where you are living is comfortable. flowers

Joseann Sun 10-Sept-23 10:58:13

Even I would know that joining the RF isn't all about wearing Alexander McQueen pieces and eating caviar every day. If that's what Meghan thought from the media hype, then she is thicker than I thought. ( I think she is actually rather clever!)

Joseann Sun 10-Sept-23 11:05:24

Ironically, I'm lunching in a minute at a hotel called George V, so royalty follows you everywhere.
Eating like a king for a day, inclyding oysters! Bon appétit!

Joseann Sun 10-Sept-23 11:06:14

That was in reply to * Jaberwok* who is peeling the apples!

Jaberwok Sun 10-Sept-23 11:16:03

Yes Josseann, I'm afraid that's my lot in life!!! All that garden produce cannot be allowed to go to waste! Oysters eh? Bon Ape`tit indeed ! Sorry about the accent, can't get it to work properly!

I must admit I didn't know you would have to courtesy to more senior royals and I didn't know that the Prince's spouse had to walk behind them. I also didn-t realise that she would get threats from far right groups because Harry had tainted the Royal Blood. I bet she didn't know her precious baby would be compared to a chimp. I bet she didn't know Harry's Uncle was friends with a convicted sex offender even after his arrest.

Of course she is clever (isn't that typically British to regard it as some sort of criticism)
But clever doesn't mean you don't take people at their surface value. And I am absolutely sure that all the RF have perfect manners when you meet them and say "please" and "thank you" all the time.
It would take time to realise it is actually just a sham, and they support the insupportable, not necessarily openly but in the way they live their private lives, the way they behave to others and the people they mix with.

Anniebach Sun 10-Sept-23 11:41:12

Jaberwok thank you, very comfortable and happy x

Catherine and Sophie walk with their husbands unless in a greeting line up, then like Anne’s husband they come second ,
Megan pushes Harry aside

Meghan did have months of training for the job before she married Harry, knew that it wouldn't just mean marrying the man, it would mean entering into The Firm and all it entailed.

Harry claims he wasn't happy beforehand either so why didn't they have a quiet private wedding (perhaps in a lovely garden) then both go off to start married life quietly away from the glare of publicity? The perfect opportunity to leave it all behind.
Instead, there was The Wedding, The Refurbishment of The Cottage, the Royal Tours.

Meghan wasn't an innocent young girl, she was an older woman used to the limelight and confident enough in her campaigns for women's rights.

She only had to look to her Grandmother-in-law as an example of a woman whose life was suddenly turned upside down at a young age, and not through her own choice, gaining in experience and confidence.

There are no far right groups in America?

I didn't realise.

Meghan left the Royal family and all the daft protocols behind.

But you’re still commenting on her; supporting her craving for the attention that being in the RF didn’t give her.
Keep going.

WellsRose Sun 10-Sept-23 12:10:24

Did her grandmother in law have to put up with racism? Was he under the same level of media attention? She didn't have to appear on the steps after giving birth? Meghan seems pretty confident to me considering how much online hate she gets. She just doesn't want come back to the UK.

Jaberwok Sun 10-Sept-23 12:12:15

Annie, Excellent 👍. Back to my apples!
