Harry, Meghan and the Invictus Games

Now the Invictus Games have finished, it was a triumph for M&H who showed what they were capable of, mixing and socialising with the competitors and their families with ease and enjoyment. They have been widely praised in other countries. Coverage here seemed to be patchy. Which seems a bit strange and not right for the competitors. But can anyone doubt that the couple could have been a great asset, and modernised the RF, or that Meghan looks so much happier and more relaxed than when she was subjected to royal protocol?

😂😂😂 that accurate book!

LondonMzFitz Tue 19-Sept-23 11:40:40

Not my impression from reading "Spare".

Callistemon21 Tue 19-Sept-23 11:34:31

Oh, but they did and bent over backwards to please them, give them roles to suit them!!

Every effort was made to introduce Meghan to what was required of her in her new working life.

You can't "utilise" people if they don't want to be "utilised".

LondonMzFitz Tue 19-Sept-23 11:31:58

I think Meghan is terrific, it's a shame the RF didn't utilise her and Harry when they had the chance.

Anniebach Tue 19-Sept-23 10:18:22

Unpleasant people do tend to invite criticism

Ilovecheese Tue 19-Sept-23 09:53:23

Well no, she can't win, not with the people who enjoy being unpleasant about her.

Glorianny Tue 19-Sept-23 09:47:44

Funny isn't it. If Meghan isn't there her marriage is on the rocks, Harry is happier without her being disrespectful etc
If Meghan is there She's hogging the limelight, imitating her late MIL, being fake.
Can't win can she.

But it’s true, a photograph of her mother in law when giving birth, who does that ?

eazybee Mon 18-Sept-23 19:29:00

Oh, Anniebach, you do make me laugh!
grin

Anniebach Mon 18-Sept-23 16:33:18

Other women dress like their mother in law, I haven’t noticed

Glorianny Mon 18-Sept-23 16:29:52

Anniebach

Explains why Megan chose to be late, she wore white shorts and black vest as did Diana, she wore a white dress with wide black bands as did Diana

So do thousands of other women.

I remember Diana turning up late for the Remembrance ceremony at the Albert Hall because she had to put William (?) to bed.
Rather disrespectful; Meghan's doing the same.

Anniebach Mon 18-Sept-23 14:07:16

If they were photographed the camera would be on them not their mother !

The school run and she had to buy milkshakes

Children old enough for school ? Thought just had 2nd and 4th birthday… us start school later

Archie started full days at pre-school when he was 3. Lillibet is probably doing half days as he did before. Of course they haven't been subjected to the posed press photos as they would have been in the UK.

Anniebach Mon 18-Sept-23 13:50:17

I don’t know school age there, she said she was late for the games because she did the school run !

I don’t think the lack of mainstream TV coverage reflects on Harry and Meghan. There are numerous charitable sporting events being held worldwide throughout the year, including some for veterans. If they were all broadcast, there would be little else on.

eazybee Mon 18-Sept-23 12:24:24

I don't consider lack of coverage of the Invictus Games to be due to fear of harming the royal family.

It is the behaviour of H & M that colours how I feel about them, notably through their involvement in the Winfrey interview, the Netflix series and their books.

All were calculated to cause harm and distress to their close relations, whilst making money from exploitation of a relationship with a family they affect to despise.

Their untruths are exposed again and again, and are regularly challenged by those who believe in facts, but they will continue to provide suspect material for the media through their relentless desire for publicity.

The interesting information about the creation and funding of the Invictus Games was a case in point; not direct lies but promotion of a belief that it was entirely Harry's project.

Anniebach Mon 18-Sept-23 11:44:04

A positive light ?

Mollygo Mon 18-Sept-23 11:37:23

I think the presence of H&M was much appreciated and enjoyed by the athletes and their families.
I think the reason it was not shown much in the UK is because it shows H&M in a positive light and that is threatening to the RF.
Both these are speculation on your part Glorianny. Perhaps you’re letting your prejudices show.

Callistemon21 Mon 18-Sept-23 11:31:13

I don't think BBCi player, the on-line platform or the RBL can be considered as mainstream media. There was little coverage on any mainstream news channel
I agree with that.

However, there has been World Athletics, Women's World Cup Football, Rugby etc all being broadcast and many people are complaining about the surfeit of sport on mainstream TV.

Instead of outrageous comedy and niche programmes attracting few viewers, ITV and BBC could use their 'alternative channels' for a lot more sport.
They might attract a lot more viewers.

I’take as little notice of what Harry and Meghan are doing as possible. I was vaguely aware that the Invictus Games was going on, and I think it’s a very worthwhile project, but as for Harry and Meghan being there, I couldn’t give a toss.
Harry doesn’t do all the work of organising them, he just puts his name to them, and then turns up. Meghan just uses them as a catwalk as far as I’m able to see during my limited exposure to them.
I try to avoid watching or reading anything about these two. I’ve got no time for them at all.

Anniebach Mon 18-Sept-23 11:27:36

Not everyone is taken in by them, too many lies and too much
mememe,
