If it is the case, Nannashirlz, that Braverman is saying "what everyone else is saying but the do goodies", then I am proud to be what you would call a do goody! Come to think of it, so are all my friends and family, I am happy to say. Your definition of "everyone" may need a bit of work before it becomes accurate.

We all know that anyone who disagrees with the left Grans here will be blasted. I cannot be bothered to get involved. We are divided. I keep wondering how many of you care about Muslim women. Do not tell me you are feminists when my dealings in London tell me many Muslim women are not allowed to mix outside their family grouping. We even stopped allowing any man from being the official tenant of Council property. This was to protect women from being thrown out. Then we have the attitude towards gay people. I happen to have gay men in my family and one of my closest friends is gay, so I am angry about Muslim attitudes towards gay people. Some of you sound completely naive. You do not question the arrival of so many small boats nor do you note the vast majority are young men. None of you on the left appear to be able to think of the future. You cannot build enough accommodation for these people, our schools and hospitals cannot cope and my worry is that our own culture is being eroded. Christianity is dying and life in London has changed immeasurably because the population has altered. Now you may not mind all this change although I am not sure how many of you live in the middle of our large cities. However, cheer up because Sir Keir and Labour will soon be in power. I wish him well but if he takes a hard line on the problems of immigration many of you will not be happy. I know immigrants do contribute to our society but now we cannot allow the current disorganisation to continue.

This is a very pertinent point and it is not clear how the UN answers it.
I think it’s time to take stock and move forward to a better understanding of who is in great need and what conditions apply for asylum to be granted regardless of the political party in power at the moment.

It’s just a theoretical figure of people who COULD claim asylum but most of whom have no inclination to do so. It’s Braverman desperately using scare tactics.

There are 35 million refugees world wide. The vast majority have settled in a country of their own choosing.

The figures given by Braverman are nonsense.

One grooming gang does not constitute a 'majority'.

In fact, a Home Office report in 2020 found that grooming gangs are more likely to be white British.
