Good grief. He was even made deputy leader of the house when he was under investigation.

Will there be any Tories left who aren’t sexual predators!!?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 17-Oct-23 16:34:46

Yes it is definitely something to do with the help to buy scheme fiddling.

pascal30 Tue 17-Oct-23 16:54:54

He sounds, from the report, like a deeply unpleasant man..,, a bully and a cheat

Grantanow Thu 19-Oct-23 11:57:29

Another backwoodsman down. Hurrah!

Jaxie Thu 19-Oct-23 12:02:02

Men at the mercy of their sexuality mixed with power and a sense of entitlement. Sickening.

MayBee70 Thu 19-Oct-23 12:13:07

I’ve always got him mixed up with Cash and Chope and felt he must be aggrieved that he, unlike them, has never been made a ‘sir’.

glammagran Thu 19-Oct-23 12:21:09

I really don’t think that this kind of predation is in any way linked to which colour your politics are. Labour MP’s do this kind of thing too. Thinking of Alec Dyer-Atkins, Keith Vaz, Mike Hill, Geraint Davies and Eric Joyce to name a few. Doesn’t matter who they are - their behaviour was vile.

Ilovecheese

Ah yes, didn't he vote against making "upskirting" a crime.

As the saying goes, ‘If someone shows you who they are, believe them!’

He’s the one who used to endlessly quote the wisdom of his wife ‘Mrs Bone’, but sadly they split up (I assume it was sad for one of them!) He was tolerated as a mild eccentric by the last Speaker.

I don’t know what it is that MPs think makes them immune from normal sanctions if they behave inappropriately. I can’t bring myself to gloat about it though, as this could just as easily be a politician from any of the other parties -= so many MPs seem to be equally vile in this respect.

I agree, no point in gloating as next week it could easily be a Labour MP.It happens with many of them with a worrying regularity doesn't it.☹️

Tories were beating Labour 10-4 in the sexual misconduct stakes last year

It’s not a competition though, and next year it could easily be the other way round. I’m a Labour supporter, but I’m also realistic, there’s nothing inherent in being a Tory MP that makes them more likely to be sleazeballs, it’s a trait that’s indiscriminate.

When has any politician or public figure said "Fair cop Gov, I did it"? All of them not guilty ever, all allegations fabricated nonsense. There's so many ...Johnathon Aiken, Jeffrey Archer, Cecil Parkinson, John Stonehouse, Neil Hamilton ...this is just off the top of my head, the list goes on and on. It'd be so refreshing if they just admitted it.

MayBee70 Thu 19-Oct-23 20:04:26

In 1922 he was Deputy Leader of the House of Commons because of his unwavering support of Johnson.

Milliedog Thu 19-Oct-23 20:06:09

It's not just confined to the Conservative party.....I can remember reading about Keith Vaz. And if you Google 'Labour disgraced MPs,' there's quite a long list. There are many good and moral MPs, but in every party there will be some who you would ban from taking your daughter out!

It’s the same with sex offenders outside Westminster. Deny, deflect, blame the victim - deny

Galaxy Thu 19-Oct-23 20:11:52

The idea that it is based on party politics is bizarre and dangerous. If anyone wants me to list the incidents within the lib dems I am happy to do that. Oh and as a labour party member the sexism I have witnessed within the party is breathtaking .

DrWatson Thu 19-Oct-23 20:53:36

For ILoveCheese -- Bone may have voted against 'upskirting', but the one that deffo did was Sir (SIR??? -- spelt cur?!) Christopher CHOPE, MP for Christchurch for ages. Apparently everyone down there is quite happy for that filth to represent them? He managed to claim over £130K in Commons expenses in one year, including £880 for a sofa. And he got a gong in 2018 for 'political services'. You couldn't, as they say, make it up.

MayBee70 Thu 19-Oct-23 22:06:19

That’s why I get Bone, Chope and Cash mixed up.

Casdon Thu 19-Oct-23 22:10:41

Seeing those names together brought a very inappropriate thought to my mind - they sound like a game of Happy Families - Mr Bone the butcher, Mr Chope the hairdresser, and Mr Cash the bank manager!

MayBee70 Thu 19-Oct-23 22:35:30

They remind me of characters out of Gormenghast or the old guys in Sesame Street. Which is unfair to both Gormenghast and Sesame Street…

Oreo Thu 19-Oct-23 23:21:21

Sounds more like a firm of dodgy solicitors 😂

MayBee70 Tue 24-Oct-23 22:57:44

I thought he was one of the Johnson followers congregating outside Downing Street when Johnson resigned. There he is behind my MP ( who was in tears…)

Ms Harrison is not his wife, she is his partner

Ms Harrison has previously stood as a candidate in Derbyshire.

Siope Sun 07-Jan-24 17:57:14

It’s not, as I understand the t, his wife. It’s his girlfriend, for whom, I think, he left his wife.

The Tories are basically trolling the electorate.

MayBee70 Sun 07-Jan-24 17:58:50

I know. Poor Bolsover ended up with Lee Anderson. The Party sure knows how to pick’em. You’d think his ‘partner’ would be too ashamed to stand.

Chocolatelovinggran Sun 07-Jan-24 18:51:48

Good grief - do I hear the sound of a barrel being scraped?
