Good grief. He was even made deputy leader of the house when he was under investigation.

Will there be any Tories left who aren’t sexual predators!!?

Urmstongran

From the Guardian just now:

“The Conservative MP Peter Bone repeatedly hit and verbally abused a member of his staff, often asked him for massages and on one occasion put his bare genitals in the other man’s face, according to a report by a Commons regulator.”

What a weirdo.

Sorry, but this made me chuckle. It looks as though the "what a weirdo" comment was made by the Guardian.

On a more serious note, the Conservatives have always had the monopoly on sleaze and corruption. It's their forte. Running the country, not so much.

I do think that the Tory party membership are a weird lot, I would love to be a fly on the wall at their meetings - a source of much merriment I bet!

Well my fly is buzzing to hear about Jeremy Corbyn and his plans to form a new left Labour Party? More information in a few weeks. Not happy about Starmer’s policies on Israel. Can this be true?

Iam64 Mon 08-Jan-24 08:57:41

What has that to do with Peter Bone?

MaizieD Mon 08-Jan-24 09:03:18

I doubt if Corbyn is happy about any of Starmer's policies.

It's been suggested for a long time that he might try to lead a new, socialist party. If he did, I doubt if it would be anything like as successful as his supporters think it would be. No 'new' party in my lifetime has ever been successful, it might gain a few seats in a couple of parliaments but that's all.

What it would do, of course, is split the left of centre vote. This might let the tories back in, though they have their own problems to contend with in the shape of the Reform party, or it could lead to a greatly reduced Labour majority, or even a hung parliament. Which would be interesting...

Sorry, I shouldn't have responded to ronib.

But, OTOH, Bone is old news and, on current polling, I doubt if his 'partner' will win his old seat.

I just thought Corbyn was a lot more interesting than Bone. Maybe a new thread further down the line? Corbyn has the ability to effect some change in the political landscape.

I absolutely agree with Urmstongran "Peter Bone what a weirdo" where do they find these people, or maybe having certain sexual peccadillos are a little known pre requisite to enter into certain sections of the political milieu shock

However, it did occur to me when reading how the upper strata of of the Lib Dems both present and past have been mired in the scandalous Post Office debacle, that party has had more miscreants pro rata! With apologies to my late mother she more often than not voted for them, but then her MP was one of their good guys.

Grantanow Mon 08-Jan-24 11:51:48

Are his constituency Tories mad or stupid?

ronib Mon 08-Jan-24 13:04:28

Didn’t Bone say he would stand as an independent if his partner isn’t selected?
So probably constituency Tories not good at bluffing it out?

Iam64 Mon 08-Jan-24 21:03:59

What kind of message are the tories sending in selecting this man’s partner as their candidate
Is the suggestion that he’s an innocent abroad - it’s weird
