Hardly. A half hearted request for a pause is not a call for a ceasefire. The government clearly did not support the UN request.🙄🙄🙄.
Do you hand on heart believe Hamas will honour a ceasefire?
Just that really

Hamas have a well oiled publicity campaign.
Yes there are deaths, there is also a video doing the rounds of bodies in shrouds, unfortunately some of the bodies are moving.
The one thing that can definitely be said on this war is believe nothing, check everything.
growstuff exactly, check, check and check again.
OMG when I posted stuff I was accused of justifying the slaughter by Hamas of Israelis. But now apparently people re claiming everything is OK in Gaza and people are just strolling around and driving cars so there can't be quite so many dead.
How many have to die before it concerns you?
Do you really not understand that apart from the bombing there is no water, little food and no fuel, and the most vulnerable will die first from the lack of those. And Israel controls all of them.

Are you saying that the live feed from Khan Younis (sp) shown in the BBC is fake?

I'm saying that the idea that people are all right and things can't be so bad because people are walking around is just trying to justify the unjustifiable. What do you do if you need food and water? You go out to look for them. It doesn't mean people are not dying. It means the living are trying to survive.

I saw on the news that people broken into a UN storage unit, found tons of food and were seizing it.
It was reported by the UN that this was a sign of civil order breaking down.
What are they supposed to do if the aid is not being distributed and they are desperate because they have no food?

I saw that too, and wondered why the food hadn’t been distributed and was locked away in a storage unit when people clearly need it. Why isn’t the aid being distributed?
More children have now been killed in Gaza in the last three weeks than the total killed in conflicts around the world in every year since 2019, the nongovernmental organisation Save the Children has reported.
Their figures show that at least 3,324 children have been killed in Gaza since October 7, while 36 have died in the West Bank.
UNRWA has said its ability to help people in Gaza has been completely stretched by air raids that have killed more than 50 of its staff and restricted the movement of supplies.
More than 613,000 of 1.4 million internally displaced people in Gaza are sheltering in 150 UNRWA facilities across the blockaded territory
The spokesman said “The current system of convoys is geared to fail. Very few trucks, slow processes, strict inspections, supplies that do not match the requirements of UNRWA and the other aid organisations, and mostly the ongoing ban on fuel, are all a recipe for a failed system”.
I have every sympathy with Palestinian civilians caught up in this war, but it was they that elected Hamas and now they are suffering that decision. Hamas has directed much of the overseas aid it has received over the years into arms stockpile. The UN and other aid agencies operating in Gaza must have known what was happening and turned a bill eye.
I detest any kind of religious extremism, the end of the war is in the hands of Hamas, how much suffering are they going to inflict on Palestinians pursuing their aim of destroying Israel.
In coming weeks and months civilians are going to have to be moved to safe areas as Israel regains control of Southern Gaza. If Hamas does not surrender safe areas are going to be needed outside Gaza, however I fear conditions are going to get much worse before that happens.
I think some comments on this thread show an inability to appreciate how difficult it is to distribute food in war conditions and just how much food is needed for a population of 2.2 million. UNRWA is a respectable experienced organisation they will be trying to manage stocks of food so they don't run out completely. It's shameful that some of you will post fake information and seek out anything that proves that Palestinian people are either sympathetic to Hamas or actually quite ok and then accuse others of being anti semitic. I wonder why that is?

Civil disorder has already begun which will make it much harder.
Katie59 I agree with your post of 07.27 today
A bit of encouraging news this morning as Israel has stated they have killed dozens of Hamas terrorists, who had barricaded themselves in buildings and tunnels.
I too agree with you Katie59
The conflict is spilling over as expected.
Has anyone else seen the reports from Dagestan Airport (Russia) when a plane from Tel Aviv landed?
A lawless mob attacking police and hunting out Jews who may or may not have been onboard…
FYI Dagestan is predominantly made up of Muslim Russians.
Yes I saw it.
Just done a quick Google regarding numbers of population following faiths, estimated world population is 7.9-8billion
14.8 million follow Judaism 0.2% of the worldwide population
1.8 billion follow Islam 24% of the worldwide population
2.36 billion follow Christianity 31.5% of the worldwide population
We have to ask ourselves why 0.2% of the world are still being persecuted today, why Jewish schools and places of worship need protection and are removing visible signs like the Star of David, why men are not wearing their skull caps (if they are wearing them in U.K. they have been advised to cover them) ?
I've never understood why Jews seem to be so unpopular throughout history and the world.

Looting of the food was shown on the BBC News, not fake information.
People were obviously still living around that depot, desperate and hungry and who can blame them for breaking in? How long would it have remained locked away? Until Hamas came and took charge of it?
And yes, I do understand because people I knew and supported were setting up bakeries in the streets of Syria with flour taken over the border from Turkey.

Yes I think we do have to ask ourselves this question. We have to ask why so little sympathy/empathy was/is shown towards the Israeli population following the depraved progrom perpetrated on the inhabitants of the kibbutz and the music festival (ironically the peace festival) attended by so many young Jewish people three weeks ago. We have to ask how were the Israelis supposed to respond? How did Hamas think they would respond?
