GN hasn't had much to say in the last few days, perhaps like me you have been holding your breath and hoping to see hostages being released and aid flowing into Gaza. I am not religious so I can't pray but I am hoping that this release of hostages continues and this breathing space gives an opportunity for a long term peace plan to evolve.

Let's hope he has more strength of character than that, but I am not a great fan of Biden either. The influence of religion is an interesting thing as is what people turn to when its influence declines but that another thread.

Hatred is such a corrosive if allowed to take hold, and any hopes of peace virtually impossible. Those of us whose parents were particularly affected by WW2 can understand how they felt after what they saw, and suffered. In the end though, peace and reconciliation had to be the way forward which my parents fully embraced, although my stepfather as a former P.O.W with the Japanese was less easily persuaded. How to reach that point at this particular time is very hard to say, hatred on both sides is breeding hatred with no end in sight. A shocking situation for the ALL the civilian population

Thankfully another 14 Israeli hostages have been released together with 3 non Israelis. Let us hope that this can be kept going until all of the hostages are free.

Oh thank goodness, and thanks for that update foxie.
We’ve been travelling all day and just arrived at our destination and hadn’t heard any news.
Hope you’re feeling better now, I know you’ve been unwell.

Lost! and Kidnapped don't mean the same thing Maybe someone could convey that to Leo Veradker, he wad under the impression that young Emily was lost, as if she'd wandered off

Silly man, is he trying to appease Hamas and their supporters?

Through her young eyes she has witnessed unimaginable horror, both of her parents killed in front of her.

Quote from ITV News: 10.30 pm 26/11/23

She was illegally abducted from her home having seen both her parents murdered in front of her. She turned four whilst she was in captivity. She is an American/Israeli.

I wonder who knew it was her birthday.
I wonder who cuddled her when she cried.
I wonder who calmed her when she dreamed.

Thank God she is released, but this is only the start of a long journey of recovery for her.
Such cruelty is hard to fathom.

Callistemon21 Sun 26-Nov-23 22:22:00

The released hostages, especially the children, look traumatised and bewildered and have apparently lost a lot of weight.

The coachload of released Palesyptinian prisoners looked happy, healthy and jubilant.

The contrast was quite remarkable.

Callistemon21 Sun 26-Nov-23 22:23:34

Typo, sorry. Autocorrect works when it shouldn't and doesn't when it should.

Palestinian.

Casdon Sun 26-Nov-23 22:25:19

Poor little girl, what a terrible thing to happen to her. I read she ran to their neighbours on the kibbutz, who had young children too. They were also held as hostages so she wasn’t entirely alone. Her older brother and sister apparently hid and evaded capture, so at least she isn’t now entirely alone in the world. There are so many awful stories emerging.

Callistemon21 Sun 26-Nov-23 22:33:10

Avigail was with her family in the Kfar Aza kibbutz on 7 October. Her parents were killed during the attack, while her two siblings hid and were later rescued. Her mother's cousin told Sky News that Avigail's father had been holding her when he was shot

Thousands of Palestinians are in military prisons children taken from family in the middle of the night, abused by IDF

Lots of Israeli gunfire on 7th killed their own people.

Today, the Tate Modern was taken over by art workers and their allies protesting against the mass slaughter of Palestinians by the Israeli state.

I can’t remember a time since the Iraq War when Western politicians have been so out of touch with their citizens -

Please listen to this. A more accurate assessment of Netanyahu you will not find.

An Israeli protestor outside Netanyahu’s home:

“These people will do anything to keep power in their hands and they don’t care if everything else crumbles.”

Thanks for posting this Grany, he sums up my opinion of Netanyahu very accurately.

silverlining48 Mon 27-Nov-23 09:29:49

A brave man and I completely agree.

ronib Mon 27-Nov-23 09:31:13

I don’t doubt the emotional distress the Israeli protester is experiencing Grany and it is brave of him to be so public about his feelings. I hope he won’t get hurt.

maddyone Mon 27-Nov-23 09:42:03

Thank you for that update Casdon. I’m pleased to hear that she wasn’t entirely alone and that her brother and sister have survived.
She has such a long healing process in front of her.
I used to teach in infant schools, and I can barely process the horrors that these children, even the most tiny, have been exposed to during their abduction and captivity. Most of us have children and grandchildren, probably like me you find it difficult to comprehend what the children have suffered, on both sides.

How long is this YouTube interview?

To know everything could take hours and hours

foxie48 Mon 27-Nov-23 11:28:43

There is another Norma Percy series of documentaries on I player. Israel and the Arabs, Elusive Peace. I haven't watched any of the 3 episodes yet but the series was made in 2005.

Grany Mon 27-Nov-23 11:37:22

In 2006 Hamas won the election and were to go in coalition with other Palestinian side to for a two state solution. But Israel and America, Tony Blaitpr changed his mind.

Thank you Lord Tony Blair that is why we have the situation now continued occupation expansion apartheid
