Replacement for Rishi Sunak!!!!

Heard on the news that Sir Simon Clark is encouraging Tories to oust Rishi Sunak or face a defeat at the General Election. He is saying that a new leader who will lower taxes and be tough on immigration can prevent this. I wonder who he is considering for the replacement. Having just seen on tv the unbelievable sight of Trump parading as a potential president in America I couldn’t but compare him to his look alike and equally egotistical Johnson.(Remember what a vote catcher he was supposed to be.Forget Corbyn who handed his majority to him on a plate) Or what about Liz Truss or dare I suggest Farage? The story is spread over the Telegraph so what now? So the infighting goes on while this country suffers.

Doesn’t matter that much if Labour gets in I suppose. I liked Theresa May, has she gone from parliament now ?

Lovetopaint037 Tue 23-Jan-24 23:30:46

Theresa May yes. However, the looney right are in the game and anyone decent and conscientious is just as likely to be discounted.

Ps Braverman perhaps. My blood goes cold.

I believe the Mogg said on Newsnight last week that the Tories would be insane to change leader now. He's probably right but they are looking a bit desperate. Still, I don't see Clarke leading the charge.

It’s all about power. Winning elections. No desire to make this country a better place for everyone in it sad.

One thing is for sure Sunak’s days are numbered. Unless he wins the election.

Hasn’t Sir Simon understood that tax cuts are on the way? Jeremy Hunt will dole them out in March and take them back after the election if still in power then.
Maybe it’s Sir Simon who is not up to the job? He needs to go?

I think you are right so what is this all about? He seems to be upsetting the apple cart and for what good reason? At a time when things need to be held steady he is just exhibiting the worst kind of unrest which the party has already displayed with the disastrous results. If they can’t manage themselves why would they be given votes. Apparently some kind of poll was held to justify his claims that a new leader could save the party. I wonder how the questions put? My guess is that Braverman’s supporter are behind this is.

Sorry about the errors ‘how the questions were put’ ‘behind this.’

So he is a 'Sir'? How exactly?

Clarke was knighted in the 2022 PMs resignation honors for services to Boris Johnson.
He is a committed Brexiteer

Was it the YouGov poll? Nadim Zahawi ?

I think the Conservative Party needs to stop the rot before it gets worse. Just remove the whip from Sir Simon and impose some kind of discipline. Suella Braverman as leader is not going to save the party. Terminal decline more like.

Thank you, Katie59. I associate Knights with brave men fighting dragons. I'm obviously stuck in the past...

I think ousting Sunak now would be the final death knell for the Tories. After the events of the last year, I don’t see how they could foist yet another unelected PM on the country. Surely they would have to call a general election.

Has Mr Sunak replaced the wallpaper at no 10 ? He'd be wise to keep the wallpaper if he hasn't, as I'm sure that it would fit somewhere else.

I believe parts of Number 10 have been redecorated by Mrs. Sunak, but there has been virtually no reporting, as all leaks have disappeared. Vast criticism of Carrie Johnson at the time, not a word since she was replaced. How strange.

He's one of our NE MPS and associated with the Teeside Enterprise Zone scandal.

Yes, hardly a party grandee😆

I expect that, should it have exceeded the annual allowance, the Sunaks are well able to pay for their own redecorations. They are welcome to decorate as they please.

Contrast with the disgusting scrounger who let his mistress loose to run up huge bills for someone else to pay...

Who the heck does he propose instead of Sunak? I can’t think of a single one. They’ve used most everyone up now.

Grantanow Wed 24-Jan-24 09:36:36

They could do better with Larry.

Not at all, I expect Mrs Sunak has quieter taste. She is also a sensible woman who doesn’t boast about her life.

Casdon Wed 24-Jan-24 09:41:26

Clarke served under Truss as a minister. Enough said, anything he says has no traction, the right of the party have insufficient support to do anything, particularly if what Richard Tice said is true, and some of them are considering defecting to Reform.

I can’t see Sunak going anywhere before the election.

Glorianny Wed 24-Jan-24 09:41:59

I wondered when I saw the title of this if there was some new development in AI and would we be seeing a robot replacing Rishi?
I do know people who think Johnson was scapegoated. If Trump is back could Boris??? No its too terrible to contemplate. Gove????

henetha Wed 24-Jan-24 10:35:35

I can't see any point in replacing Sunak now. It's too late.
And anyway, there is no-one very inspiring, is there.
