What the hell is happening to this country?
Send these scum to Rwanda ASAP.

Totally sick of these violent criminals being allowed to stay here.

Chestnut Sat 03-Feb-24 16:43:20

JaneJudge It is clear it was a domestic abuse. The woman was described as vulnerable. I think race and religion have less to do with this
As far as we know race and religion were not relevant (we'll have to see) but the fact that he was an illegal immigrant who should not have been here at all, well that is relevant. If this had happened in some far away country it would be no less tragic, but if you bring the world into your country then you bring the problems of the world with them.

I don't feel sorry for him either angry

it looks like he has injured himself as well

I can't feel sorry.

Excellent.

The mother and one child have 'life changing' injuries. Altogether 12 people were injured and needing hospital treatment in the attack.

I hope no-one is shielding him.

JaneJudge Sat 03-Feb-24 16:22:50

It is horrific what has happened. I wasn't downplaying it at all. Domestic abuse and violence is a real threat to (mainly) women

I despair that these acid attacks have become a 'thing'

I lived through WW2 and welcomed refugees and genuine asylum seekers. Today a lot of the latter are migrants seeking work. I sympathise with them but the UK can't accommodate whole nations. There are Afghans who helped our Forces still needing our help and being denied this. The acid-thrower was not one of them. He was an illegal immigrant, a criminal, and yet has been allowed to stay for quite a few years. I still believe we welcome genuine asylum-seekers but the problem is so many are not . Greedy lawyers should be disbarred for encouraging and abetting criminals knowing that they are criminals but thinking only of monetary gain. Sadly, not easy.

I am tempted to say the death penalty for ALL acid throwers.

petra Sat 03-Feb-24 15:58:16

CoolCoco
If you added up all the migrants who came from the Caribbean, Pakistan and Bangladesh it wouldn’t come even close to the numbers over the past 20 years.
Net migration from june 2022- 2023, 672,000.

I hope the lady and her daughters can move on from this

Are you for real have you read what happened to this poor lady and her children, she will probably end up blind and scared for life and have to undergo months even years of plastic surgery

I live a in a multi cultural area and we all seem to rub along fine so I really don't believe multi culturalism doesn't work. I think there are specific issues and areas of concern but I don't think it is everywhere and is down to extreme behaviours and beliefs (on many sides)

We're a multi-cultural family (and due to become more so we hope🤞) but all seem to be law-abiding and hardworking.

Blair did it because an immigrant vote is usually a Labour vote.
This is why I have little doubt Labour will vascilate on this problem facing the UK.

tickingbird Sat 03-Feb-24 15:36:44

Blair most definitely did open the doors and Mandelson has admitted as such. Blair has gone a long way towards wrecking this country but that’s a discussion that’s been done to death. I loathe the man and I helped vote him in!

It's hard not to be racist given the circumstances of this case - and the many others involving Muslim men.

But discussing religions is not racist is it?

Race and ethnicity are not the same as someone's eligious beliefs.

Blair didn’t open the doors - the doors have been open since WW2. Swathes of northern mill towns imported families from Pakistan and Bangladesh in the 1950s to work in the textile factories, people from the Caribbean to work in transport and the NHS and so on. It has been the legacy of empire. The Tory bosses have benefitted from cheap labour over the years, not caring for the communities that have ,been affected, it’s the same story now. Why do you think immigration has soared under this present government and their feeble claim to be controlling the borders?

Blair opened a lot more doors. Things visibly changed from 1997 onwards. I remember my underage teenage daughter being chased in the town centre by Kosovans who had come here due to the war. I was shocked because this had never happened before.

Rubbish, Blair opened the doors.

Most of the men arriving on boats are Muslim is it racist to mention the blooming obvious especially as we are a Christian country or have we become so woke and pc we dare not to.

Biscuitmuncher Sat 03-Feb-24 15:11:15

Freya5 you are exactly right

Some comments are racist that’s for sure.

And how is it racist to want to defend your own country from invasion? In the past invasion was by military means but this is a slow drip drip drip of people from the rest of the world, some of whom may be criminals or terrorists. It only takes a few to cause terrible suffering by their actions, with our Police force further stretched by having to track and trace them.

Who thought it was even possible to bring in countless numbers of people from the rest of the world into a country the size of a pocket handkerchief? We cannot keep taking an endless flow of people. If you think we can then please explain how that works.

For those who say we need to import a workforce to run the NHS, just to remind you that for every 10,000 who arrive that's another 10,000 new NHS patients who also need medical care. It just won't work.

As a matter of interest and not argument; without naming specific posters what comments do you consider racist?

I haven’t read them all so I’ve quite possibly missed some but I, personally, haven’t read any. Being anti mass immigration of cultures totally different and in many cases opposed to our own isn’t racist.

I think we all shuddered when we heard he was an asylum seeker Cossy because it's a story that is repeating over and over again.

Bring the world into your country and you bring the problems of the world with them.

We are bringing the whole world into our tiny country and that will eventually be our downfall.

People who jump in boats and risk their lives may be genuine asylum seekers seeking a new life, or they may be desperate criminals who have nothing to lose, escaping their old life. Then they are eventually lost in the system and who knows where they end up. There are thousands of them with mental problems and the authorities have lost track of them (this was admitted on the news last night).

Those on here who are defending these people need to wake up and realise what is happening. Until then you will find yourself shuddering over and over again every time one of these horrors is reported.

We are importing medieval values , misogyny, intimidation, it has been going on since Blair opened the doors, since Starmer defended foreign criminals . People think it will be better under Labour, it most definitely will be worse than it is now.
