Great news that the Mirror Group have had to pay up and pay Harry's legal costs. It must be great news for the 100 other cases that are still outstanding. It should never have taken this long.

Harry flew back to present a football award in L.A. Must have been his choice when to visit his father

I thought he wanted his day in court.

This will be the best way for him I guess. Obviously a lot of his complaints were thrown out.

It would have saved a lot of time and money if he'd settled like William did

Well if everything is kept quiet you would never know what the tabloids get up to . The Royal family has their life under a microscope and it’s sad the repercussions it has on them all . Yet the British public laps up all this salacious gossip at the financial benefit of the publishing dynasties like the Murdochs.

the British public

That's rather a generalisation.

Netflix, which made the ludicrous series The Crown, lapped up by many in the USA, is an American company I believe.

A question often asked is "Why are Americans so obsessed with the British Royal Family?" It's very odd, since the USA disassociated itself from Britain in 1776.

"Let’s be real: America is absolutely obsessed with the royal family."

But yet everyone is posting their take on the family situation as if it is fact, and bears out their interpretation.

Harry couldn't stay longer?
Yesterday it was written that the king only allowed him a half an hour or 45 min (however long it was)

Perhaps Charles isn't seeing anyone at the moment, apart from Camilla.
He probably isn't feeling the best, needs peace and quiet, no visitors, then Harry turns up, the son who has caused him so much stress, which is the last thing he needs just at the moment.

MissAdventure Sat 10-Feb-24 10:27:52

Perhaps.
Who knows?

Glorianny Sat 10-Feb-24 10:31:02

Of course these are two separate issues but when the outpourings of one member of a vastly over privileged, and overexposed family are even compared with (and sometimes considered worse than,) the systematic invasion of the private calls, and conversations, of hundreds of people, by a multi-million pound press group, you realise how twisted our society's values have become.

Probably because to do so would mean acknowledging that this was a brave act by someone some people have chosen to dislike, and one which will benefit others.

I realise that actually perhaps the damning of Harry wasn't as simple as it at first appears.

Callistemon21 Sat 10-Feb-24 10:35:08

Your bias shines through Glorianny

They are both gross invasions of privacy.

If you can't see the difference between one over privileged and over exposed family and one member of it
And a multi million press group and ordinary people's lives I suppose they are.
Some are always distracted by glittery objects

Callistemon21 Sat 10-Feb-24 10:52:39

😂😂😂

We live in a Constitutional Monarchy, it must be very difficult for a republican to accept that.

Anniebach Sat 10-Feb-24 11:03:08

The most exposed member of the royal family is Harry, we were even told where he had his first sexual experience, yuck 🤮

MissAdventure Sat 10-Feb-24 11:06:10

The point is, that people watched or read it, presumably?
I wouldnt have the faintest idea

MissAdventure Sat 10-Feb-24 11:07:14

Ooh!
I don't mean people watched his first sexual encounter. 🤭

Anniebach Sat 10-Feb-24 11:07:45

It was spoken of here

Smileless2012 Sat 10-Feb-24 11:13:49

Nothing to do with a monarchy really.
More to do with the glittery objects waved by the media to distract the public. The RF is one element, soaps, celebrities, etc. there are many others.
The RF are useful of course. Playing the "good royal", "bad royal" game sells papers. And people do fall for it.
Those of us with longer memories question the allocation.

Anniebach Sat 10-Feb-24 11:15:51

^ waved by the media ^
There you have it, Glorianny, well done

It's the media. Netflix. Bashir. Omid Scobie etc etc.

The Royal family just try to get on with their jobs and are as entitled to a private life as much as the rest of us.

Me neither, I didn't bother to read it but did hear on GN that it was outside.
So someone could have been watching, perhaps a sheep or a cow?

... and gave so many details that the poor woman was outed. What about her privacy?

So you put the private life one family over the lives of hundreds of ordinary people. There's the difference I don't.
If one of the members of one of those families wants to write their story they are entitled to do so.
If a huge media corporation wants to listen to their conversations and use that information they are not entitled to do so.
Who the family is doesn't matter

CoolCoco Sat 10-Feb-24 12:07:19

Well their “jobs” are basically to be in the public eye and pose for photos, which isn’t conducive to a private life. The RF aren’t entitled to a private life according to our media which print pages of stories based on endless speculation -“ the first picture of Charles after his diagnosis” was one photo last week - give the bloke a break. Why do they issue photos of their children for the plebs to gawk at? The kids haven’t given their consent.

I think they issue official photos hoping the media will not intrude more on the children's privacy. Obviously the children will be seen at events, eg carol services.
The British press seem to respect the privacy of the children, at least.
I don't think the foreign press have such scruples.

Callistemon21 Sat 10-Feb-24 12:13:11

give the bloke a break.
Yes, I agree.

Surely Camilla should have been allowed some compassionate leave too?

Anniebach Sat 10-Feb-24 12:13:42

Photographs of the children of William and Kate are part of an agreement, they release photographs same as the late Queen. Diana tipped the press where she would be with and without the children. Nothing wrong with the children being seen at public events, Harry’s children are on videos which could only be released by the parents.

You seem to understand nothing about the role of the monarch and the rest of the working RF.
