Yes it is reported that catherine , william and the children have joined the king at sandringham
.............................

And, in a clear sign of her improvement, she was able to join her husband, Prince William, and their three children as they set off yesterday morning for a half-term holiday on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where the King is also convalescing.

Would you not think better of them if they gave up their place in the queue by paying for private treatment? Or would you rather they clog up the queue until they are treated by the NHS or die? Choosing private treatment is not being given priority, it’s taking yourself out of the NHS system altogether and freeing it up for those who can’t, or choose not to, pay.

Exactly, I think a lot of people would think very badly of people who were able to pay, but chose instead to clog up the already massively overloaded NHS. I know I would. Annie,😄!

Fundamentally I don't accept that any priority should be given on the basis of ability to pay and thereby jump the queue. It's not personal to individual Royals. I'd think better of elite people if they took their turn with the rest of us in queueing, waiting and sometimes dying on the NHS.

😲

Really?!

Well, please yourself but I'm thinking of paying for the operations I need, sorry if that offends.

At least someone else would be able to move up the NHS queue.

Why?

If they have the money and choose to spend it on private health care, private education, so what?

I bet most of us on GN would pay if we could afford it. And why not?

Both my sons have private health insurance through their employers, it seems to be the practice nowadays, and both have recently benefited from that. Certainly my youngest son may well have had to take time off work had he not received speedy treatment, so it works from the employer’s point of view.

I'm not offended by disagreement but I think I should say what I think.

Choosing private health care is not necessarily a quicker option. I looked at booking an appointment with a local private dermatologist and the first available one is in April so am sticking with the NHS.

Grantanow Private medicine these days is very democratic with people beg, borrowing and possibly even stealing to be able to pay for private treatment. You see private treatment being crowd funded, of people taking out loans, or looking to family and friends to help. mostly for consultations and tests.

Private medicine is no longer limited to the well-off.

Grantanow Sat 17-Feb-24 23:52:22

I assume MOnica that you are being ironic. Having to beg, borrow or steal to pay for private health care is hardly a wonderful message about our democracy especially as everyone begging, borrowing or stealing has already paid for the NHS in their taxes.

Grantanow I am merely stating the facts, not voicing an opinion.

Private medecine it is no longer something only available to the rich and those with private insurance.
