Bugger!!!!

He was one of the good guys, so very brave RIP💐

This, exactly.
One of the bright lights of hope has gone out. So very sad.

This was murder, slow murder by torture.
He was repeatedly put in a punishment cell in a penal colony in the Arctic circle despite failing health.
He was deliberately driven to die.
The cowardice and evil of Putin is unmatched.

Vile regime. Tried poison, then 'prison' in Siberia. How long could anyone live, starved and exposed there? And Zelensky is going round the world with a begging bowl to expel Putin from Ukraine. P won't stop there!!!

Greenfinch Fri 16-Feb-24 14:24:37

So sad and shocked to hear the news. My thoughts are with his family. What a dreadful end to a very brave life.

AGAA4 Fri 16-Feb-24 14:24:42

His wife has spoken in Munich asking for the evil man, Putin, to be ousted.

Ziplok Fri 16-Feb-24 14:27:36

Sadly, any opposition to the existing regime is met with brutality.

I agree, the rest of the free world must support Ukraine in whatever way is needed to stop the march of Russian boots!

He was seen yesterday smiling and looking healthy. A brave man who will not be forgotten. His poor family.

M0nica Fri 16-Feb-24 14:32:52

Murdered, without doubt.

sodapop Fri 16-Feb-24 17:54:15

Such a brave man and his wife is speaking out too, I hope support is gathering to oust the vile Putin.
RIP Alexi Navalny

Smileless2012 Fri 16-Feb-24 18:18:23

Murdered, without doubt.

I think this too.
Poor, poor man.
And his poor family left behind.

eazybee Fri 16-Feb-24 18:29:32

Such bravery.
Such a tragedy.
Perpetrated to scare fellow Russians into submission.

Aldom Fri 16-Feb-24 18:30:43

This. Beautifully worded Aldom

" Shame on those who took his life."
I agree, Aldom, evil men working for the most evil of men.

I'm so sad to hear of the death of this brave, brave man. His wife and children must have been dreading this day since his return. Thinking of them and all who loved him.
R.I.P. Alexei Navalny.

Callistemon21 Fri 16-Feb-24 18:47:08

Terrible news.
Shame on them all.

RIP Alexei Navalny

May his memory live on and give others the courage they need to overthrow this evil regime.

Visgir1 Fri 16-Feb-24 18:54:26

Such a shame what a brave man.
Tbh I'm surprised he lasted so long? Putin certainly didn't want him around, he signed off his death warrant no doubt.
His poor family, he will never be forgotten.

Lucyd Fri 16-Feb-24 18:59:54

A brave, brave man. How truly dreadful it must be to live in a country which does not allow free speech.
I can recall the days of the Cold War, I lived in W Germany when the wall came now and rejoiced at Gorbachov.
How terribly sad Russia is now more like it was under Stalin and the kulag is used a means of silencing those who are brave enough to question the regime.

Grannmarie Fri 16-Feb-24 23:37:08

Navalny documentary on BBC 2 just now, Story ville.

Grantanow Sat 17-Feb-24 00:02:23

RIP. I hope his death will have bad consequences for Putin but my expectations are low.

JenniferEccles Sat 17-Feb-24 09:59:58

I was so sorry to hear this desperately sad news about a very courageous man.
He was described as being a very charismatic character who wanted to run for President.
Just imagine the difference he could have made to Russia, well the whole world really.
The war in Ukraine would have stopped for a start, and of course conditions for Russians would have improved immeasurably.

Who is there now to stand up to Putin?

maddyone Sat 17-Feb-24 10:05:40

And of course Putin is denying anything to do with his death.

JenniferEccles Sat 17-Feb-24 10:08:06

As he refuses to accept responsibility for any atrocities maddyone including the Salisbury poisoning.

maddyone Sat 17-Feb-24 10:10:06

Yes indeed Jennifer. He is a vile man, I’ve seen many countries are calling for him to not be allowed to get away with it, but I have little faith that anything much will happen.
