Islamaphobia is getting out of control

We have Braverman and Anderson stirring up the most awful Islamaphobia.

I don’t think that we have ever had British MPs saying such racist and hateful rhetoric since Mosely. They are being backed by the worst sort of editorship. It is so redolent of the 20s and 30s.

Jewish and Christian leaders are calling for it to stop, as well as Tories who see this as a disaster for their party, as it will never ever end well.

Rory Stewart

This idea that “London is in the grip of Islamists” is deluded and it’s awful - an obsession that thrives among a bizarre and dangerous coalition. No conservative MP should ever be spouting this stuff.

Anniebach Sun 25-Feb-24 09:18:50

What demands are made by Jews ?

Aveline Sun 25-Feb-24 09:16:18

I just read something interesting which made me think. Hinduism. These people don't make aggressive claims. No terrorists. They live and let live and generally just get on. Hence there's no Hinduphobia. What is so special about Islam or Judaism that so many demands are made by them?

SeaWoozle and Maybee, 30p Lee makes me think of the scarecow song from The Wizard of Oz : " If I only had a brain". Can't comment on his heart.

I agree with you Kandinsky. Not so very long ago we were a Christian country - the day will come when we are a predominantly Muslim country. I’m not happy about the change - if anyone wants to call that Islamophobia so be it. I don’t like the thought of being outnumbered in my own country. What Anderson said wasn’t far off the mark.

I’ll just leave you two to it.
You’re on a wind up and I doubt you’re really that interested in debate.
You just seem bored and looking for arguments.

Someone else can indulge you.

No wind up. I just can’t stand hyperbole.

I expect that you would feel very different about the ULEZ charge if you had young children suffering because of car pollution every day of their lives.

To the rest of us it is a mild irritant to a young child it is their life.

I have asthma which is probably why I was so ill when I caught Covid.
I’m aware of the problems of air pollution. Heathrow has no housing in the area where you pick up passengers, it’s money making pure and simple.

You’re assuming all 9 million Londoners vote.
you know voter turn out is pathetic in many elections, so you can cut that 9 million in half for a start.

Okay, so if half of Londoners vote, and all Muslims vote there would be 1.3m Muslims out of 4.5m total voters, so 3.2 non Muslim voters. It still doesn’t stack up. Obviously some are children so not eligible to vote, but that would apply to all groups.

Can you please stop putting your passive aggressive smiley faces after most of posts.
I don’t know what you find so hilarious about these debates that you start?
It’s childish as best, and a bit creepy.

You may not be aware that I endeavour never ever to become personal in any of my posts.

It gets us nowhere.

🙂

*Because he is popular? He is doing stuff Londoners like? He isn’t corrupt*

He definitely isn’t popular & he’s not doing stuff Londoners like. I live here.

He gets voted in because London has a very high Muslim population - and they vote him in.

That doesn’t stack up Kandinsky, there are 1.3m Muslims out of 9m Londoners (2021 figures).

15% of Londoners follow the muslim faith.

That leaves 85% of Londoners who are not.

So your maths do not add up I'm afraid.

Most likely it’s because he’s Labour, and Londoners are disillusioned with the Tory Government. We’ll know if that’s likely to be the case if it’s mirrored in the other local elections.

I wonder why Khan is on course to win the biggest majority than any other mayor has ever won.

Lucky to have so many mates!

You said it!

maddyone Sun 25-Feb-24 08:12:32

He’s unpopular with me and I don’t even live in London. My husband went to pick our son and daughter in law up from Heathrow last week. He had to pay the ULEZ charge because Heathrow has been brought into the ULEZ area, alt it’s a good way out of London. DH was not pleased. He couldn’t take my car, which wouldn’t attract ULEZ because he said it wouldn’t fit the luggage in (long haul flight.)

So wonderful Mr Khan is the only politician never to do any favours for his mates.
hahaha.

Whatever he’s doing. as a Londoner I can assure you he’s the most unpopular mayor we’ve ever had. Christ knows who voted for him. Oh hang on……maybe it’s his mates?

😄😄😄 let’s keep this at least a bit real!!

The polls show that Kahn is on course to win the biggest majority any mayor has ever won!

Anyone who believes Khan has “given away London to his mates”. Should look at the party who have supported hedge fund managers, Russian oligarchs and property developers - they are the ones who are making profits off the back of London. No evidence that Islamicists are controlling London - it’s the wealthy elite Tory donors.

Funnily enough I watched GBNews for a bit last evening for the first time.

It had Oliver fronting the programme. I can’t believe that he believes some of the stuff he was saying. He is certainly an oddball. He should stick to history, much more his line, and he can conspiracy away to his hearts content.
