Mollygo - itโ€™s thought a brief affair but not serious or long term

Well it couldnโ€™t be long term for either of them could it, but no-one knows what might have been.

It was wonderfully magnanimous of them both to jet cycle across several states from California to Texas to kindly deliver a birthday cake. We know how sustainable travel is so close to their hearts, so presumably they would have found a way to get that cake there in a non- polluting way, so wow good on them! such a long way to peddle with that cake precariously balanced in the basket, maybe they even went on a tandem so Meghan could maintain that carefully placed hand on Harry's back, willing him to keep going!, but phew they made it! I wonder if they were somewhat perplexed to find that whole event was turned into a photo opportunity though, because cynics might mutter it was all for effect because other mere mortals may have employed a delivery from a local bakery and Skyped their message privately away from the media glare, but that's Harry and Meghan always willing to go the extra mile smile

Hope they stay put in the US and just shut up. They are a nasty, boring couple of people. I used to like him once, too.

I hope they stay put and shut up, too.

excert;Diana and I were very good friends and we never took what the other said that seriously. Although we did talk about marriage, we did not make a point of sitting down and discussing the specifics. It was something we would chat about generally if it came up in conversation. Neither of us ever proposed.

โ€œMy main concern about us getting married was that my life would be hell because of who she was. I knew I would not be able to live a normal life and if we ever had children together, I would not be able to take them anywhere or do normal things with them. Anyone could approach me, in the pub, on the train, anywhere.

worth a read

Iโ€™ve only commented on Dodi and Diana. I had no idea about any other relationships.

They were actually in Texas because Meghan was speaking on International Women's Day www.mirror.co.uk/3am/us-celebrity-news/prince-harry-sits-front-row-32299392

But God forbid the woman should be allowed to speak.
The cry of the mob to kill the witch still runs just beneath the civilised facade.

And if Saint Meghan and Saint Harry had maintained their roles within the Royal Family Glorianny would be condemning them just as much as she enjoys sniping at William and Catherine. Some posters are just so transparent and I'm not even a committed Royalist, I just despise prejudice and unfairness. Which is actually making me post like a committed royalist!

The Germaine Greer complex. Go opposite to everyone else. Fine until you work out what it is.

eazybee Mon 11-Mar-24 07:17:06

Except that Germaine Greer is a highly intelligent, highly educated woman, and her arguments are worthy of consideration if not necessarily agreement.

Galaxy Mon 11-Mar-24 07:34:41

Yes if someone compared me to GG I would be delighted.

True ! My husband used to work with her in the 1960s. Very clever lady ( but sometimes irritating).

Anniebach Mon 11-Mar-24 10:40:45

I canโ€™t recall Germaine Greer saying โ€˜no one asked if I was okโ€™

Not all of themโ€ฆ.

Iam64 Mon 11-Mar-24 11:39:54

People who burnt witches were very dangerous. People who accuse women they donโ€™t like or disapprove of , of being witches would benefit from thinking on ๐Ÿ˜‡

Meghan did speak on International Womenโ€™s Day. She spoke about herself.

She spoke about online abuse and its toxicity. She illustrated it with personal experiences, I think it's obvious how much she has received. I also think it's a short step from abusing someone you don't know to abusing someone you do know. Drawing attention to what happens to young people who are subjected to such abuse is vital. Children have committed suicide because of how they were treated. She was drawing attention to an important subject.

I don't really care what any of them do. Celebrities, royal or otherwise don't define my life. I do find the continual abuse of individuals (and particularly women) unacceptable.

And yet your own repeated sniping at Catherine, a woman, seems not to be unacceptable?

Smileless2012 Mon 11-Mar-24 11:59:17

I also think it's a short step from abusing someone you don't know to abusing someone you do know well she knows all about that doesn't she, when it comes to her husband's family.

Would you like to illustrate that with examples please? I think I have made a few posts about how women are treated in the RF and referred to Catherine as an example of the attitude necessary and likened that to a 1950s housewife (probably a year ago). I've posted about the way she changed her life to meet William. and waited for him. I don't think I have referred to her in any of the terms used to describe MM on these threads. I really can't be bothered. I think I was chastised for spelling her name with a "K" which is quite logical- Kate= Katherine when you really know little about someone Catherine should = Cate. No idea why it doesn't.

eazybee Mon 11-Mar-24 15:38:47

If you really cannot see the difference between Meghan Markle's behaviour, particularly towards the family she could not wait to marry into, and that of the Princess of Wales there is little point in you trying to defend yourself.
