Lee Anderson has joined the Reform UK political party!

The country that Anderson and his supporters want back is the one where it’s ok to have signs like “No blacks, no Irish, no dogs”, where smoking in pubs and drink driving is considered fine, where women can be harassed and can’t complain about male “banter”, where homophobia is approved of and encouraged, where middle aged white men make the rules.

Good grief brings to mind that WW11 saying "If you start taking flax your over the target"

I understand that Andrew Tate has a large following of men who agree with his views. That does not make his views any less unpleasant.

My husband is a proud Irishman, not a British Citizen, with an Irish passport, should we start packing??? Or are we OK because we are white?? Odious, disgusting excuse for a man! I’m not sure why his supporters and those of Reform UK actually believe they will be forming a govt

Well, I’ve read the manifesto and it’s reads like a primary school project!

Get rid of “daft EU regulations” (no mention of which “daft ones”)

Their NHS plan is just utter nonsense, slipped in between casually stating more use of the private sector.

Controlled immigration comprises “1 out, 1 in” Bit like a multi storey car park! I would have respected a points system concentrating on those with skills and professions we are so short of.

Their costings/finance are utterly ludicrous, and there’s lots of pictures and block graphs! Yup, put together as a bunch of 9 year olds school project!

I meant by this that I don’t want them to grow up being vilified by those of other ethnicities who bang on about ‘our’ colonionism, toppling statues of white ‘bad men’ (even though the English were the first - under Gladstone I think - to abolish slavery) and also my awareness that white working class boys are at present the much marginalised group. That is what I meant by my grandchildren not being ashamed of THEIR colour - the pressure is on for white people to keep apologising. Welby doesn’t help in this regard.

I think you must surely know what I meant. Never once have I suggested that ‘brown people’ to quote some dismissive posts on here are not valued. I just don’t want my grandchildren, as the years go by, to feel ashamed or awkward in any way whilst living here in ‘our’ UK. Yes, others are welcome to come here to live and join in. Of course that goes without saying. I’ve always said ‘nice people are nice people’. But to come over and then attack us - verbally (mostly) or physically (scarily) - is just not on.

The people of Bristol toppling the statue of the guy who built a lot this City on the back of slavery were NOT all people of other ethnicities. I think you should stop digging, you’re making it worse 😂😂😂😂😂😂

No understanding of how those people were welcomed with open arms at the time because they were prepared to work hard for low wages to make a profit for their employers and bring wealth to the areas.

Well the Tories are in disarray. It's amazing how they have squandered that large majority and the goodwill that they gained at the last GE. Beggars belief. All those ‘loaned votes’ disregarded. No wonder us Red Wallers are disillusioned and feel disenfranchised.

Secondly, the Islamist issue is engendering paralysis in otherwise "sensible" politicians. Scared stiff of being branded intolerant, or even worse racist, they are sticking their heads in the sand over the Islamist extremists issue that is clearly getting out of control. Indeed their silence and reluctance to speak up is emboldening the extremists and thus making the problem worse.

At the very basic level, with the constant repetition that Lee Anderson’s comments about Khan were racist and islamophobic. They were not. I still think LA speaks for many of us who live outside the Westminster bubble.

Time will tell.

Your assumption that ‘Red Wallers are disillusioned and feel disenfranchised’ is not necessarily going to turn into votes for Reform Urmstongran. Having been failed by the Tories, and now recognising that Brexit wasn’t the bright new tomorrow, most voters will go back to their roots I suspect, and the Red Wall will be rebuilt. If that wasn’t the case, why are Reform only polling around 10% in all the election opinion polls?

I think that if the GE is held in November, after the USA and maybe a Trump win, the UK, despite electing a Socialist Gov., will turn to the Right. The tide of any sympathy for uncontrolled immigration is turning and Reform will be more of a force than people realise. This Party will have thousand of secret sympathisers, believe me.
