Partly with NATO mostly its the terrorist and separatist groups that cause most problems.
Voting. I’m so glad we still have the ‘old fashioned’ system…
Much as the title says. I know some GNetters have been fierce supporters of Israel's right to defend themselves by their incursion into Gaza. As the months go by and more information becomes available with regard to the treatment, deaths etc of Palestinians, has this changed anyone's opinion? Today evidence of the treatment of doctors and patients in the Nasser Hospital has been verified. Does this change your opinion?

Palestine has yet to be accepted as a full member of the UN. Attempts have been made for years to recognize it as a state in order to try to negotiate a ‘two state’ solution has been blocked.

Did you miss the war in Ukraine?
Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine poses the gravest threat to Euro-Atlantic security in decades, shattering peace in Europe and reinforcing the need for NATO to ensure that its deterrence and defence posture remains credible and effective
Do you know I might just have heard someone mention Ukraine
Katie59 if you want to discuss what is happening in Ukraine, why not start a thread? I started this one and it's about the Israeli incursion into Gaza not Ukraine.
In answer to an earlier issue, ie how do people of Palestinian and Arabic origin fare as Israelis (ie living within current Israeli state, I have found this Amnesty report that addresses the issue:
www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2022/02/israels-apartheid-against-palestinians-a-cruel-system-of-domination-and-a-crime-against-humanity/#:~:text=This%20racial%20discrimination%20is%20cemented,legal%20differentiation%20from%20Jewish%20Israelis.
jatues69 last I heard there was a genocidal incursion into Israel on Oct 7th, or maybe I'm biased?

Just reminded you about it Katie59 you seemed to think NATO was all about terrorism.
Sorry foxie48
I've just heard Blinken talking on the radio about Gaza. He didn't mince his words, compared the situation in Gaza with regard to famine to that of Sudan and Afghanistan, 100% of Gazans, 80% of Sudanese and 70% of Afghans in danger of starvation. What a dreadful world we live in with so many people in danger of starvation. However, there is absolutely no need for Gazans to be starving and it's clear the US has got Netanyahu in it's sights and about time too. The US is putting forward a plan to protect civilians whilst enabling the IDF to continue their incursion in Rafah. I just hope they allow more food aid in, this situation is untenable.
"According to the most respected measure of these things, 100% of the population in Gaza is at severe levels of acute food insecurity. That's the first time an entire population has been so classified."
His actual words.
Any longer term solution means there being land to farm and water to drink and water crops.
And control of those resources.
We keep hearing that northern Gaza is starving, that is Israeli controlled.
What is actually happening?.
This CNN report shows you.

If supplies were permitted to enter freely now lives would be saved. I doubt if Israel will comply.
Scanning the news reports it looks like Israel has lost control of the civilians in Northern Gaza who are attacking and looting convoys when they try to enter

They don't have any food so when some aid gets through they are desperate. When people are desperate, order breaks down. I think it's difficult to imagine how it must feel to be starving and unable to feed your family. The way to return order is to ensure there's enough food.

If it wasn't for Israel most of those people would not even be there. They have been herded into a tiny corner of the country are living in appalling conditions and starving, not surprisingly law and order has broken down.
Maybe if Israel kills another 30,000 things will improve.
Reports today alleging Hamas orchestrating the food disorder, to gain international support, given the disregard for Palestinian lives they have shown so far maybe they are.

OMG how on earth does anyone orchestrate anything when people are starving?
In any case it is entirely irrelevant if Israel opened the checkpoints and permitted enough food to be taken into the country there wouldn't be any riots and people wouldn't be starving.
Disregard for Palestinian lives??? The over 30,000 who have been killed by the Israeli bombing? The 70,000 injured with few hospital facilities to treat them, or the 7000 missing?

The Gazans already have international support for their situation, even the US, Israel's staunchest supporter is openly challenging Israel. Wow, I'm speechless at the lack of empathy! Imagine herding more than twice the population of Birmingham into small areas and then depriving them of food, you'd have bloody riots even without all the bombing, lack of clean water and shelter etc!
I think that there can be no doubt that genocide is taking place, but it shows how confident Israel must be that other nations are going to take little action, to ignore the ICJ’s interim ruling.
With regard to Hamas purloining all the aid, - if the level of aid was entering the country to the pre-war levels, Hamas couldn’t possibly purloin it all and starvation would be diverted. Israel is absolutely lying about the level of aid it is allowing to enter into Gaza.
I’ve got a lot more empathy than Hamas if they had any regard for Palestinian lives they would surrender, they really dont care how many innocents are maimed. They are only interested in their crusade to destroy Israel
If Hamas had any empathy at all they would not have carried out the hideous events of 7/10.

How do they surrender Katie59? and what difference would that make to the 1.4 million people currently forced to live in Rafah? Will it provide them with food, rebuild their hospitals, schools and houses and allow them to return to their own homes?
Only one country can facilitate all that
The IDF are systematically targeting healthcare facilities, healthcare personnel and really dismantling the whole healthcare system,” he said.
Professor Nick Maynard, the former director for cancer services at Oxford University who worked at the al-Aqsa hospital in central Gaza at the beginning of the year, accused the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) of “appalling atrocities”.“It’s not just about targeting the buildings, it’s about systematically destroying the infrastructure of the hospitals. Destroying the oxygen tanks at the al-Shifa hospital, deliberately destroying the CT scanners and making it much more difficult to rebuild that infrastructure. If it was just targeting Hamas militants, why are they deliberately destroying the infrastructure of these institutions?”

There is an interesting article on the CNN website about settlers who are intending to return to a Gaza where there are no Palestinians.
"The grandmother who wants to lead Israelis back to a Gaza without Palestinians "
The more I read and dig into what is happening in Israel the more concerned I become.
