News flash just now but she says she feels really well and she looks it.

Starting chemo soon. The abdominal surgery found cancer.

Summerlove
My partner spent his whole working life in the printing trade.
You have no idea how many of the great and the good he has altered ( in a very small way) and you had no idea 🤷‍♀️

A cancer diagnosis is devastating especially if you have young children. I wish Kate well and to be left in peace to rest while she is going through treatment.

I really don't see why it is necessary to carp on about anything other than PW illness or perhaps our own family and friends who have also suffered similarly, on this thread.

Me neither.
Nothing else is called for under the circumstances.

She is so young and the children are still very young. What trials they are all going through at the moment, I wish them all well as I would any family who is going through the same, as so many of us have.

I like many others have a DD who is the same age and like you all hope the press will leave them to heal as a family both physically and mentally, but somehow I doubt very much this will happen. Why do we need to know everything

Aveline Fri 22-Mar-24 20:05:23

Such an impressively articulate and brave message for the public. The poor girl. She could have done without the whipped up nonsense about that lovely photo.
I hope Catherine is back to full health and strength for her family and, eventually, for us. We all wish her well.

Joseann Fri 22-Mar-24 20:13:50

So, so sad. What a shock.

M0nica Fri 22-Mar-24 20:20:59

Summerlove AP news pulling the photo, does not mean the changes were significant. These were special issue photos, not news photos. I assume they did it because of all the hoo hah, a question of discretion being the better part of valour.

I sat with a family, Mother (lost her hair) in 20's baby still breast feeding, young man obviously at his wits end in the waiting room the other day. I did my best to entertain the little one whilst they went into see the oncologist.
I haven't been able to stop thinking about them since.

I've just watched the PW again, and I think of her lovely hair, perfectly styled, hopefully she won't loose it. Not everyone does .

Another one wishing Princess Catherine a speedy recovery, must have been horrendous all the press speculation and intrusion the last few weeks.

I admire her dignity in making such a calm measured statement. Now leave her and the family to go through the treatment programme in the hope that all goes well.

I echo that

First and foremost she is a mother, daughter, wife, sister.

I wish her well.

I hope the paparazzi along with SMS respect her privacy.

“ At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”

This made both of us emotional this evening.

my heart goes out to Catherines parents and siblings also.

I’m in Windsor where my DD lives and was so sorry to hear this. We were asked to comment by the BBC and had a photo taken as we passed Windsor Castle in our way for a meal.
My heart goes out to her.

Me too. My thoughts are also with the Middleton family. No wonder Carole looked grim faced when she was pictured driving her daughter a week or so ago.

The strain on close family members cannot be underestimated.

I hope the press behaves itself over this.

My very best wishes to her.

Yes, they must be devastated.

Labradora Fri 22-Mar-24 21:09:50

Now that's rotten luck.
Being a Princess doesn't make a cancer diagnosis any less frightening I imagine.
Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery.
She's got no spare weight to lose. They'll have to feed her up after the chemo's finished.

I wonder if all the posters who contributed some pretty horrible suggestions as to why William pulled out of the memorial service for King Constantine, on the 27th February, are feeling even just a little bit ashamed of themselves now? Some suggested that he was "off meeting his mistress: "like father, like son". Another (long standing) poster concurred and said that that was possible but, as Catherine had fought so hard to get him, she'd probably just turn a blind eye and carry on. They went to great lengths to justify their malicious, nasty comments when challenged too. So now that we all know that, on the day that William missed that memorial service, he'd just been informed that his young wife, and mother of his 3 children, has been diagnosed with cancer, all within weeks of the same news about his father; how do all the malice mongerers feel about what they've said? Any regrets? Any lessons learnt? Anything they'd like to add?

PuddyCat you'd hope they'd feel some shame for those vile comments.

It must have been so hard for Catherine to make that video. Telling my family and my children I had cancer and seeing the fear in their eyes was one of the worst moments of my life but at least nobody expected me to sit in front of a camera. I think she has been forced into this by all the rumour and speculation and it's just shameful. Hoping she makes a complete recovery and can be left in peace now.

henetha Fri 22-Mar-24 21:15:24

I was so shocked and sad at this news. I wish her well with all my heart.
The royal family are certainly going through a lot lately. Here's hoping that she, and the King, make good recoveries.

Mollygo Fri 22-Mar-24 21:16:08

So sorry to hear this but what a brave step to take to try and quell the hounding and speculation that has gone on. Will it change anything?
Well the first question in the 6 o’clock news was something like “What else are we not being told?”
So no, that’s one source that won’t let it alone.

Callistemon21 Fri 22-Mar-24 21:19:58

That's the BBC.
They really need to pull their heads in.

CoolCoco Fri 22-Mar-24 21:21:35

Many on here know the fear and anxiety that a family goes through when they learn of the cancer diagnosis of a loved one. One of my DDs had BC 3 years ago and fortunately is now cancer free but the anxiety will always be with us. I just wish the press/ broadcasters wouldn’t endlessly repeat the same old things and speculate on and on. She’s made the statement. We wish her well and will leave her to get on with it privately. That’s all that needs to be said - why did they need to talk about it for 30 minutes or more on the news?

. That's all that needs to be said.

lemsip Fri 22-Mar-24 21:24:50

Summerlove

Of course they were. The family come first.

However, let’s not pretend this is not a business with every resource imaginable. It should’ve been handled in a much better way. The palace/ PR really let Catherine down. They are the reason there is so much scrutiny.

It’s not a criticism of Catherine to say so.

Now is not the time
