Yet another defection by a Tory MP today. Natalie Elphick has obviously done this to make a point. She’s already said she’s standing down at the next GE but clearly wanted to cause a rumpus for the Tories. Her statement is scathing about Sunak. At this rate we won’t need a GE - all the Tory MPs will just voluntarily move over to the Labour seats
From what ppl in her area said on tv she won’t be missed as she done nothing for her area. But i think if you In a party and ppl have voted for you in that party you clearly don’t take your role or voters seriously so you should step down completely it ain’t the honky konky lol
You are so right. And how she had the nerve after years of abusive remarks about both KS and the Labour Party - and yet he’s accepted her! Very very odd.
When Starmer takes over, as it seems he will, I expect things to go on much as before. We appear to have two right-wing Tory parties going head-to-head with the inevitable result that nothing at all will change.
They say, don't they, that is someone shows you who they are you should believe them. Keir Starmer is showing us who he is, we should believe him and stop pretending that he has some sort of grand plan to be different when he is in power.
The LP or LINO as I now know them, have lost all moral compass, and I agree Starmer is showing us who he is and as long as he is leader of a party of whom I have hitherto been a staunch supporter, will never vote for them again.
I think Starmer knew more than enough about Ms Elphick before the latest revelation, and in fact (according to X) one MP has joked that she is the first Labour member of the ERG 🤣 I think it makes the Labour Party look pathetic. Any self respecting LP members should be leaving in droves.
She is an unpleasant woman and if the Labour Party thinks that someone from the right of the Conservative Party, who has made some really inflammatory comments on several issues, should be welcomed with open arms I think they will alienate many Labour Party voters and members.
I think it is irrelevant that she will not be standing in a General Election. The message this sends out is all wrong, in my opinion.
