So Harry and family are coming back!
This week the PM limply tried to present the Tory party as the only party capable of defending the UK against future foreign threats. After 14 years of collapsing international relations, they have done little to prevent such threats developing, so where’s the evidence they have the wherewithal to build a different future? Within hours of this latest speech, the Tories had a mass breach of personal data! As the party who can’t even stop the little boats bringing refugees into the UK, how can they possibly think we will believe them?
There is nothing superior about me for sure. I am a member of a human rights organisation and there is more going on than is immediately apparent.
Hope this helps.

If I were to say what I think about the six point plan I would be banned. Are people really that gullible?
Probably. 🤣

Not really to be honest. It’s a bit vague so I’m not sure I believe Afghanistan translators are being shipped out of the UK.
Jonny Mercer says not.
Googled it, it does happen

The question is though, are they more gullible than those who voted Tory in 2019? I suspect probably not.
Time will tell of course. Perhaps we should keep a running tally, trade a lie for a lie and an MP expelled for another, and so on.

Have read your article.
The U.K. admitted they got it wrong and he is now waiting in Pakistan to come to the U.K.
I have picked up on the promise of an additional 40,000 hospital appointments a week and asked where the doctors and nurses are coming from to cover those appointments, throughout the night and throughout weekends. No explanation. I am not stupid.
But you have to understand that Hunt didn't enjoy putting up our taxes, he just had to do it. Just like the Walrus didn't enjoy eating the Oysters.…
🤣
I have no problem with Hunt or his fiscal policies.

I gave you the explanation Germanshepherdsmum, it’s quite straightforward.
Of course, Labour also say there will have to be ‘some tough spending decisions’. Last time I checked, that was what they called ‘austerity’ when the Conservatives made such decisions.
I just wish he had t frozen the Personal Allowance which is really low now and fiscal drag has many of us ‘borderliners’ now paying tax.

😄😄😄 I’ll trade your gullibility for someone you see as taken in by a Labours supporter’s gullibility.
I suspect that will change before the election.
There seem to be a few Labour voters here who swallow the party line hook and sinker.
I’m not one of them.I want them to win the election but have no expectation that things will change for a long time.Small changes yes, but not more as they would need at least two terms in office and that’s not guaranteed.
All this mission driven stuff is just electioneering crap.
I don’t feel safe with the Tories - they have cut our armed forces to the smallest number for centuries, cut police and prison officer numbers, closed police stations, closed prisons and fire stations. The court system is on its knees and prisoners are being released from their sentences early. How anyone can have confidence in them is laughable
That brings us neatly back to what this thread was about vegansrock. The rebranding isn’t aimed at Gransnetters with entrenched political views one way or the other, it’s aimed at those who are seen by Sunak as potential Tory voters. Sunak is the one on the back foot, not Starmer, and he has to convince voters that they should vote for him. The political pundits aren’t convinced.
The Conservatives haven’t cut numbers in the armed forces or the police - fewer are willing to join despite recruitment drives. Old prisons and fire stations have closed and new ones have been, and are continuing to be, built. Until all the new prisons are available space has to be found for those given a custodial sentence. Police stations which were little used have been closed - like banks. What makes you think Labour would do anything differently? Talk is cheap.
“Where are all those extra teachers going to come from?”
I was answering M0nica who posted the above yesterday at 15.42.

They will probably come from the independent schools when parents can no longer afford to send their children there. However see below as regards record numbers of teachers - doesn’t sound like an inspirational part of the ‘plan’ to me - like the rest of it.

Police numbers and statistics
"Have police numbers kept up with a growing population?
While the number of police officers is a few thousand higher than 2010 levels, the population has grown - by about 7% - since then.
If the number of officers in England and Wales had risen in line with the population since 2010, there would need to be thousands more officers.

It is commonplace when a politician asks a tricky resources question to answer, "but we've put X amount into ....." but it has to be measured against need.

They have cut numbers in the armed forces considerably.

That report needs careful study, Casdon. It differentiates between fully and partly trained personnel and the quote by the head of the armed forces at the end says it all - it’s not numbers, but capability, which matters.
I know, I read it - there’s no getting away from the facts though, they have cut numbers, which you said specifically that they hadn’t done.
GSM your belief in the Conservatives is clear for all to see. That’s your prerogative. If I were a ‘floating voter’ what would you say to persuade me that the Tories have been a good government for the past 14 years and I should put my trust in them to govern again? Please tell me why I should vote for them.
