77 Tories standing down - more to come?

After the election, which we are all expecting will result in a Labour win, the Tory party should dissolve and then re-invent itself. If true Conservatives looked at the Reform manifesto and took on board their plans, they might stand a chance of regaining all the votes they are going to lose.
The only thing that concerns me is the hunting issue. Reform are in favour of hunting, which many of us abhor.

Our MP announced he was not standing for the upcoming GE some time ago. Why he has been allowed to remain in office when he has been charged with rape is anybody's guess. A major player in the MP's expense fiddling too. Good riddance.

Michael Gove has announced he is stepping down. I have never been a fan of his. My Granny would have said he likes to run with the hare and the hounds. Likes to be best pals with whoever is popular at the time.

Sunak has announced he will bring back mandatory national service if he wins the election. He's hoping this will appeal to older voters. No wonder so many Tories are leaving.
They must realise that his plans are becoming "desperate" as Starmer has said.

What are Reform's policies please? I've tried to find out but no luck.

Reform’s policies are mainly cut immigration and encourage growth by lowering taxes, they say they will raise the personal allowance to £20,000. However that would mean they would lose approx £1500 from each tax payer whose total income is taxable and that is approx 27 million people so the amount lost in tax would be eye watering and I defy anybody to explain how they would manage to do this and run the country effectively. I believe they also believe in a small state which means benefits would be cut drastically, I doubt if they would go near pensions but they probably would if they could.

MPs are probably being inundated with lucrative offers of jobs with, for example lobbying firms, but most have other jobs anyway.

I don’t think it is a foregone conclusion that Labour will win the next election. There are many disaffected erstwhile Labour voters who are unhappy that the party is now LINO (Labour in Name Only) evolving into a dilute version of the Conservatives. For example, Reeves (we have no money) ex banker and NeoLiberal, and Streeting, private medicine fan.
Some voters will also be influenced by Gaza.

I believe we are reaching the stage in this country where we can no longer call ourselves a democracy.

Those leaving have all done so by now. I still belive nothings is cut and dry... I think the boundary changes will effect the out come.
If you apply these changes to the last elections, I read only a few days ago Conservative would won 370 seats Labour 200 so Labour have a mammoth task to win over 170 seats back to get over the line with a majority, Reform could be the fly on the ointment for both major parties.

It's unbelievably depressing that all the leading parties are not prioritising climate change..

Yes Climate Change is the biggest issue I agree, and it’s almost too late to act. None of the parties, bar the Greens, seem interested.

It’s all about money. The rich getting richer whilst the poor go to food banks.

It's on Labours 6 key pledges but it's true targets not going as far as originally as quickly as hoped.

The Tories have been shooting themselves in the foot for the past four years. Why stop now?

True Conservatives, such as my late parents voted for, are long gone, helped out the door by Johnson.

Another question without a satisfactory answer from them.

We need new life injected into politics in this country. Representatives with some radical new ideas and with more integrity.
We are all exhausted from listening to the same old same old
diatribe from the two main parties. I welcome their extinction and the formation of something more exciting.

There certainly will be more compulsory 'standing down' after the voters have had their say!
