So, your vote is based on the one single issue of WASPI compensation? Which party will get your vote then? I’m a WASPI woman too, and believe we deserve recompense, but there’s a lot more going on than that.
Think you’ll be waiting a long time for compensation, whoever gets in!
I do not believe we will get any compensation whoever is in power so it is not an issue that will affect my vote.
Not much hope of any compensation from any party.
I seem to recall Corbin said he would compensate WASPI women. Not a hope!
That ship has long sailed.
I get rather irritated by posters declaring that one issue such as WASPI or gender issues is their reason for not voting for a party. Surely your life cannot only be focused on that one thing, however important? What about the war in Ukraine/Gaza/migration/cost of living/future proofing energy supplies/NHS waiting lists etc., etc.?

Many people voted on the Gaza war in local elections when local issues should have been the focus.
I agree, we must think about the wider picture in general elections.

I don’t get what you’re driving at. Are you saying that if she had said ‘Yes, I can tell you what Labour’s plans are, we are going to make no compensation to WASPI women.’, would you have voted for Labour because she knew exactly what the policy was?
I won’t hold my breath waiting for a payout, whoever’s in charge.
But I do think that a dangerous precedent has been set if the Ombudsman’s findings are simply ignored.
I'm very irrated at having to work at 68 and also having to pay 1
£12000 privately forva hip replacement. I'm also very irrated by losing £50000 in pension just because of my birthdate when women did not have any equality due to pay pensions childcare etc. But I'm most irrated by George Osborne's statement about saving the most money ever by raising women's pension ages.
Yes I’m irritated by that too Hippie20 but I wouldn’t base my vote on just that issue. TBH I’m not holding my breath for any compensation no matter which party is in power. I’ll still be voting Labour!
And I'm also very irritated at 68 being discriminated against for the shingles jab which I could have if I was 65 or 70 but not 66 67 68 or 69. Absurd!
As a WASPI, I don’t think any of them know much, and nothing much will happen - whoever wins.🤷♀️
I lost 6 years, but I’m not holding my breath for anything. 🙄
Ah yes, it was annoying seeing Osborne in that video, boasting about all the money he saved by the pension changes. I think he was referring to the third big hike to the SPA. Mine jumped from 60 to 63, to 64 and 9 months, then suddenly up again to 66. I was just relieved to get my pension, and my bus pass, before they slipped even further away.
My vote won’t be swayed by one issue though. I’ve many reasons not to give it to the Conservatives.
I am one of those affected but have resigned myself now to getting no compensation. Illegal immigrants have already cost us billions and these people who have never paid into this country, never worked and done anything for our country take priority over us seemingly.
I too am very angry! However, despite the ombudsman stating very clearly in March that DWP were remiss in letting some WASPI women know in good time and that some form of monetary compensation, amounts between £1,000-£5,000. However as the PO, the infected blood and the cladding issues are still not compensated, so WASPI’s are way way down the list.

I totally agree with you Hippy, not just for the compensation but the fact they sent a canvasser out who did not know anything it.
This issue is important for alot of women in the waspi cohort, not all of them have occ pens, husbands who they can share payments with. They rely on the state pension only, and find it hard to cope so yes it is a very big issue and for the canvasser to know Jack S... is disgraceful.
I can assure you labour would not get my vote either.

I’m with you on this Elusivebutterfly!
As someone who has done her share of door knocking you can't possibly answer every single question. Door knockers are not professional politicians but volunteers who may have a lot of knowledge about some matters and very little about others.
The election is still weeks away so plenty of time to find out about how the party's stand on the issues important to yourself.
Door knocking is very much about information gathering and voter intention rather than dealing with questions.
One of the reasons I don't do it any more.
rafichagran I don’t follow your logic. Are you saying you won’t vote for Labour simply because a canvasser didn’t know about Labour’s stance on WASPI compensation? Is that what you’re saying?
Yep. It is important. Canvassers should be aware of the Ombudsman's ruling. And no I won't vote for any party who does not supportvthe ruling. For me who has attended many demonstrations and who have largely been ignored by the media. It is important to me and it is my vote and it is my right to use my vote the way I wish.
You can of course use your vote how you wish Hippie20, but why are you cloaking your intention not to vote Labour in the WASPI situation, which is clearly what you’re doing? Either that or you have no understanding of the role of election canvassers - they are not candidates, they are not experts who are there to answer questions about electors’ pet issues, whatever they are.
I would have thought 3.8 million women whose spa raised from 60 to 66 without sufficient notice would have been important enough for labour canvassers to be aware of. As was Jeremy Corbyn inthe previous election
It is not a minor issue and it is a relevant question from me and other 1950s women as to Labour's stance as to the ombudsman's recent ruling.
So Hippie20 is any party saying they will pay compensation to WASPI women?
