SKY news, split between Starmer and Rayner

MayBee70 Fri 31-May-24 19:24:04

Sky News seems to be trying to find anything negative the can about Labour at the moment.

SKY news, split between Starmer and Rayner

Annie. I’ve not seen Sky news. Do you mean they’re split in support of either `Starmer or Rayner or more likely they’re suggesting a split between the leader and his deputy. I heard a commentator earlier suggesting “Rayner wears the trousers ‘,in their relationship.
Ridiculous, my impression is they’ve developed a good working relationship.
Also - has anyone met a QC who can be pushed around ?

Anniebach Fri 31-May-24 19:40:05

Sorry Iam, a split between Starmer and Rayner. Starmer flip
flop again. Rayner is strong Starmer is weak.

Iam64 Fri 31-May-24 19:45:48

Thanks Annie, I thought that’s what you meant. Starmer flip flop is the desperate cry of a dying government.
Mrs T famously wasn’t for turning, obdurate, single minded and lacking compassion
Starmer isn’t weak and accusing him of flip flopping is pathetic

Sky News are doing their best to keep this media-led issue alive. They are suggesting a rift between KS & AR. It’s rubbish! When AR commented about DA she had obviously spoken with KS first, and they were in agreement. But Sky News just can’t let it go. They just can’t say ‘the issue has been resolved’. I’ve never seen such biased reporting. Yesterday a Tory MP stood down and said he was joining the LP. Are Sky still talking about that - no! Today they’ve given Sunak and another Tory MP (didn’t catch his name) a platform to talk about DA and how ‘it’s weakened Starmer’! Why? Oh, that’ll be to support the Tories and to beat Labour. I always said KS would have a mountain to climb against the right wing media - it’s very, very unpalatable! I’ve turned Sky News off and won’t be watching it againangry

Anniebach Fri 31-May-24 19:51:57

Yes, Iam, there will be much more to come

LizzieDrip Fri 31-May-24 20:03:45

I agree with your two posts above Iam👏👏👏

Iam64 Fri 31-May-24 20:05:54

There will Annie.
You’re correct about the right wing media LizzieDrip, every Labour leader gets it.
The mp who stood down and joined Labour is Mark Logan, Bolton north east, his majority is 400. Even the tories complained he was invisible

LizzieDrip Fri 31-May-24 20:11:49

Iam can I ask you a ‘personal’ question? How do you stay so calm - your posts are always so wise and measured. I get so cross about it all - wish I didn’t reallyconfused

Iam64 Fri 31-May-24 20:28:34

Do you think I’m calm LizzieDrip?b often I’m Very Cross and don’t feel wise.
It’s clear I irritate some posters - that’s life init.
Here’s hoping we have a Starmer led Labour government. We have sone good MP’s -

LizzieDrip Fri 31-May-24 20:44:29

Iam flowers yes, let’s hope so!

Galaxy Fri 31-May-24 20:54:57

Having some posters be irritated and having some posters who think you are great is the perfect balance in my opinion Iam64wink

Iam64 Fri 31-May-24 21:15:17

Galaxy 🤙. I’ve just heard some of Trump’s press conference. He’s deranged and dangerous. If Diane Abbot I’m, Starmer and Rayner are our most threatening politicians, we can relax

LizzieDrip Fri 31-May-24 21:51:49

Iam you can say that again🙈

Its James Cleverly

"Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer was "bullied" into allowing the veteran left-wing MP Diane Abbott stand for the party by his deputy, Angela Rayner.

He has accuses Starmer of "flip-flopping" and "U-turning" over whether Abbott should be allowed as a Labour candidate"

As per conservative plan - attack left whenever possible use right wing MSM.

Splits?
Ignore the fact there is a massive split in the right and Reform could take huge chunks of Conservatives votes effectively splitting the vote allowing other parties in and the Conservatives, unless they can come to terms with Reform will never be able to gain power again until its resolved.

I have just seen Diane Abbott on the BBC news and I wonder whether she might have Parkinson’s?
Her hands were shaking and her face looked very frail and vulnerable.
I remember my Mum with that look.

Wyllow3 Fri 31-May-24 22:56:36

Several people have asked that - I really hope she is not pushing herself if really ill.

maddyone Fri 31-May-24 23:48:09

Ah well, it was all a storm in a teacup.

maddyone Fri 31-May-24 23:48:41

Or was it? Is the next instalment yet to come?

Anniebach Fri 31-May-24 23:58:19

Next instalment yet to come

I felt the same. And she seemed to be relying on others to guide her round. It made her look extremely vulnerable.

Parsley3 Sat 01-Jun-24 08:04:45

I hope that whoever has the final say in who stands for this seat will be putting competence over ideology. If Diane is becoming frail, then I hope that she does the same and doesn't push on at a cost to her wellbeing.

Iam64 Sat 01-Jun-24 08:29:57

It’s nonsense to suggest ‘the left’ bullied Starmer into ‘flip flopping’. The tories really are desperate

maddyone Sat 01-Jun-24 08:38:53

I think both Starmer and Diane Abbott were playing a game. She was stirring the pot to see what would happen. He was watching the reactions, especially of the public, to see which way to jump. He judged, probably correctly, to take the wind out of her sails and announce that she is free to stand. He initially said we wouldn’t know until Tuesday, when some committee (can’t remember the name) has met and he implied they would decide. However I think he has played it correctly. He has closed down the growing media circus over this and left her to decide.
