Iam64 I have lost the will to debate after being castigated for giving my views (on a different thread). Apparently I get too ‘het up’.

So I’ve stepped back from the fray, but still enjoy following the views expressed by you and others (who perhaps don’t get quite so ‘het up’)smile

We all get het up, at times, over politics, because we all see it as important for us all.

Different views are always good - otherwise, it becomes an echo chamber.

So, untwist your knickers, if they were ever twisted lol, and have your say. 😉

I really enjoy your posts so I do hope that you ignore the rudeness of the poster who described you as being het-up.

Am I alone in remembering far left as those who wanted to nationalise everything? Blair got rid of Clause 4, so the party moved to the right. The far left produced some excellent MPs who believed in worker's rights, established and fought for a free NHS and decent education. They were dedicated and moral people. It's a pity there aren't more like them in the party today.
Let's remember
Aneurin Bevan
Barbara Castle
Tony Benn
Clare Short
John Smith
Robin Cook
All to the left of today's LP

WW and Cossy (and Tennyson) thanks for the moral boostthanks Much needed and appreciated.

We say ‘bugger ‘em’ in Yorkshire too!

Not just Yorkshire down south too!

Whitewavemark2 Mon 10-Jun-24 12:53:29

Here they come the fascist worms out of the woodwork.

Someone by the name of Gribbin - Reform candidate for Battle and Bexhill.

“Britain should have been NEUTRAL against the Nazis”

So neutral against 6 million people killed as a result of scapegoating people of a particular faith.

Next he will say “they didn’t understand German culture”😡💪🏼

My prediction is 1 possibly 2 who will then promptly join the Tories and fight for it to become a far right outfit.

Respectfully, I beg to differ, I believe very few voters, other than disgruntled Tories, will vote for reform. I think they might gain a maximum of four seats. Let’s wait and see.

💪🏼 come on lizziedrip

I don’t mean this literally but you get the drift😄😄😄

"Once more into the fray. Into the last good fight I'll ever know. Live and die on this day. Live and die on this day."

As the Cornish say “bugger them!”

We won’t know how much impact Farage makes until Election Day a lot of voters share his aims and prejudices whether Labour or Tory voters. We saw in the Brexit vote not all Labour are socialists, however do we really see Reform winning many/any seats?

Most polls predict one or maybe two seats, at a push. Not enough to influence much - particularly if Labour get a large majority.

One Reform candidate has already stood down to allow Gavin Williamson an easy run. Presumably, he’s been offered something in return. Or, so `Farage thinks.

We shall see.

Farage for Prime Minister, he says it how it is.

How is it?

Isn't 'how it is' a matter of opinion? There is more than one way to look at life, you know.

Casdon - thanks for your response. I’m losing the will to debate given the ill informed comments from ‘some posters’.

As I am. I do understand “some” posters don’t like Rayner but she’s certainly not “rabid left”

There are some alarming fractions in the Conservatives currently who are loose cannons like Truss. Hopefully they’ll lose their seat and whoever does take the reins has a strong and sane opposition.

I’m now in the “wait and see what happen on July 4th camp”, I’m already weary of some of the rot I read in the media which is then sometimes regurgitated on social media sites such as this.

My goodness what a pompous being you come across as. Poor you having to read comment that doesn't align with your left wing views. I do read, and you seem as ill informed about anything other than your own views, oh and how other people should think. Rayner is a loose cannon, she challeges Starmer very chance she gets, why do you think he has kept her out of the limelight recently.

Freya5, you aren’t up to speed. Rayner has not been out of the limelight at all, she was the Labour Rep in the big debate on BBC1 on Friday, she’s out campaigning on the Labour bus, she’s been in the news a lot. I get that you don’t like her, but what you’re saying isn’t the truth.

MaizieD Mon 10-Jun-24 11:38:22

As Diane Abbott is no longer a key figure in the Labour Party, tossing in irrelevancies about her maths is pointless. I seem to recall that Priti Patel couldn't even say numbers correctly let alone compute them, but it's all water under the bridge and not relevant to the future direction of our politics.

Rayner is out of the limelight because she is busy campaigning and no one is trying to implicate her in any manufactured scandal.

I will be interested to see both manifestos to see where/if they coincide.

I hope the Tories s are better at their maths than Farage.

He got completely muddled/lost when trying to defend his squillions of tax cuts/spending plans yesterday on Kuenssberg.

I don't think anyone is worse at maths than Abbott.

He is a nonentity who gets far too much airtime and should now be ignored by the media who made him.

He doesn't even want to be an MP, let alone a PM.

Attending any meeting in the European parliament was far too much hard work for him, but oddly claiming the most expenses wasn't.

👏👏👏👏👏

It’s lashing out season for the right Iam64, only four and a bit weeks to go and I expect it will then settle down to a distant rumble of discontent again.

I’m hoping Starmer will continue to try and keep Labour extremists from dominating . Successive Tory pm’s have absolutely failed to keep the rabid right in check

Tell who is the "rabid right". Oh yes people you disagree with.
Well Rayner is the rabid left, along with Abbott. Starmer will not be able to keep them in check, he even rolled over to let Abbot back in to get the votes.

The rabid right is Farage, Braverman, and judging by his recent rantings, Johnson - and his remaining coterie of the Bullingdon crew. Rabid is a good description judging by the fact bypasses their brains have undergone. The rabid left is George Galloway. I believe both Corbyn and Abbott are spent forces now. If you think Rayner is rabid left you haven’t been doing any homework at all.

Urmstongran Mon 10-Jun-24 09:38:14

Predictions are maybe 4 seats for Reform. 3 more than the Greens (Caroline Lucas) has had for years!

Dickens Mon 10-Jun-24 09:38:08

Farage for Prime Minister, he says it how it is.

He says quite a lot. Based on what he knows people want to hear.

But that's not necessarily "how it is".

I grant you however that:

He is a master of the theatrics of politics, with a ready knack for oratory and a capacity to ad lib in fluent argument – and spot and capitalise on gaps in the political debate left by the Tories and Labour. (Chris Mason, Political editor BBC)
