Can't understand why so many are out of work and we need more immigrants to fill job vacancies. When I've been out of work I've taken agency jobs like cleaning a pub, making cardboard boxes in a factory, casual waitress for banquets, washing up in a cafe etc. As long as it put food on the table and paid my bills and mortgage I didn't care. When I got a job that I was qualified for things improved but I've never claimed state benefits.
People should be made to take any job offered regardless of whether it's their trade or not. That's how it was years ago. You went to the Labour Exchange and were sent on a job where they needed workers.

It depends where you're talking about. In my district, the percentage of people claiming unemployment-related benefits is very low. Most of the claimants aren't long-term unemployed. Small businesses, such as shops and cafes, are forever complaining that they can't get staff. We "import" people from neighbouring districts, where housing is cheaper, but that means people have to have their own transport because public transport is dire. There are many areas where the opposite is true. Housing might be cheap, but unemployment is high and opportunities are few.

To clarify muddled last sentence:

Help for Heroes sent out demands to all parties "what will you do" and shows the response. Ie Conservatives were responding to a call from them in issuing their policy, and so have Labour and Lib Dems.

Note: Help for Heros are asking for additional support from what all parties have offered.

Some jobs may be suitable for just anyone but for example a shortage of £30.000 care workers can't be filled with anyone unsuitable. The job rates are so low that it wouldn't cover someone moving to anywhere but a cheap area and if there are dependants would rely on benefit top ups.

Labour has pledged to raise Care Workers wages to £15 an hour.

Job centres do try and do this but unfortunately, unlike the old days, we cannot “match” people then call the employer and arrange an interview. Majority of jobs are now online applications

The immigrants are supposed to remain in the first safe country that they land in. As France is pushing them back to Italy why can't the Uk push them back to France? The taxpayer cannot afford anymore soongers.

According to international law asylum seekers are not obliged to stay in the first 'safe country' they reach.

We used to be part of an EU wide agreement on asylum seekers under which we could return them to the safe country they had travelled from to the UK, but since the idiotic decision was made to leave the EU, the UK is no longer party to that agreement and is bound by international law.

Of course, many of the headbangers who voted to leave the EU don't understand the concept of 'international law' or see any reason why the UK should comply with it, but, unfortunately for them the UK is no longer in a position to do exactly what it wants in the world. That died decades ago with the British Empire.

You are misinformed, actually on all counts!

Asylum Seekers, under International law can seek Asylum in AMY country of their own choosing.

Asylum Seekers have no recourse to publics fund or right to work until such time as they have their claims processed. They received a small allowance via the govt from the Foreign Aid.

Over 45% of people claiming benefits between the ages of 18-66 are actually in work, state pension is also counted as a benefit, do you consider Pensioners “spongers” Horrible appalling word to describe unwell and disabled people!!

Let's be clear its now the first country they claim asylum in not the first country they arrive in

How does any official know what the first country is that an asylum seeker has approached for asylum? As opposed to just landing there. Is there a world wide computerised process/databank?

Countries like Germany (just checked) keep records of failed asylum seekers but how much sharing is done or how effective it is I don't know.
